It begins with a fresh and beautiful buffet starter that includes prawns and cockles with an array of salads. By contrast, the weekend menu is pretty pricey, but the difference in product from the weekday plat du jour it is really incredible. The weekend plates are so well and beautifully presented to a very high standard. You won't begrudge spending the extra money for the amount and quality of food you'll receive. It toook a bit of time (because they cook the sausages to order) but it was brilliant! They were out of brown bread but hey, we were eating an English breakfast in France on a weekday at 10am . They also serve a gorgeous Sunday roast. The pub had been recently renovated with a massive back room for live music nights, and the bathrooms are great. (Yes, new toilets with seats, haha). They serve 3 kinds of locally brewed hand-pulled beer, and the wine and spirits list is long. All -in-all it's a brilliant addition to the town!

We came driving through Ribérac at 4:30am STARVING (as drunk people do). Our longtime resident and DESIGNATED DRIVER suggested we stop here and get a pizza out of the pizza vending machine because our in the country in France at 4:30am there is NO OTHER CHOICE. So, we inserted our 5€ or whatever it was and chose our pizza. We should not have picked one with mushrooms... It took about 10min and came out of the slot in a proper pie pan with a thin dough and all the cheese and toppings just dumped inside. It was scalding hot but the dough was 100% uncooked and the mushrooms had just leaked all their water content into the other contents. It was so horrible. A first and last for me, but it also made for an interesting tale to all my friends back home who are so used to all our 24h places to go after the club's close. From now on, if I go out that late I just make sure I have something waiting at home to satiate my beer munchies.
