The home isn't…read morejust beautiful, it has the unique character that can only be built by many generations of loving owners each making their own thoughtful contributions. The custom wood work, vintage light fixtures, mirrors, carpets and stained glass are at once classy and charming. Every aspect feels cozy and full of warm character without ever crossing over to ostentation. The only thing better than the atmosphere was our hosts, the owners Butch and Shirley. Even though we'd never met before, they treated us like old friends they were delighted to catch up with. They went out of their way to ensure every aspect of our stay was enjoyable. Butch and Shirley love the house just as much as we did, and you could tell they were thrilled to be able to share the gorgeous historical time capsule that is the Montgomery Mansion with others. The coffee, scratch made french toast and frittata the next morning were the perfect end to a perfect stay. The great place and great hosts have us searching for a great excuse to go back soon!

I found Bonnie Dwaine through Yelp, and I am so glad that we chose to stay here! From the moment we arrived, the house was perfect for our stay. Our room was on the third floor, and was renovated with a king sized bed. The bed was extremely comfy, the space was large, and we had our own bathroom as well. We chose this space for the king bed, but although it was very nice it was missing the vintage/historic feel of the other rooms located on the second floor. This room was HUGE, and would be great for a family. If we stay again, I would love to spend time in one of the other rooms, they were all so beautiful and historic. Bonnie was a fantastic host. She was so kind, friendly, and extremely thoughtful. She had a lovely home, and took great pride in making her guests feel welcome and comfortable. The breakfast that was served was fantastic, and she even made us breakfast for the morning that we slept in, and had it sitting out for us with a note when we were finally able to make it downstairs to the dining room. 5 stars for the bed and breakfast, 5 stars for friendly Bonnie, and 5 stars for the location! Amazing Mexican restaurant nearby, and the Moundsville museum is free to guests - located minutes from B&B.

You can smell the history! From the immense front porch with rockers and a swing to the claw tub to the mini farm with sheep and chickens one was surrounded with silence and thought - if these walls could talk!- Every nook and cranny filled with early 20th century furnishings and books! There is a fireplace for cool nights and one very small hidden tv which was turned on once in 3 days and that was to watch Little House on the Prairie! Breakfast each day? Delectable!

We were here in the peak fall color viewing time so it was a little slow getting around. I imagine it's always a little slow all year with all the bikes, buggy's, and tourists. Lots to do and see in the area. We were lucky enough to be here during the towns annual garage sale, so we spent some time shopping these. I bet you would be hard pressed to find someone with a bad disposition around here, everyone seemed quite content with there own pace of life they have sit for themselves. If you are lucky enough to book a room here, make sure you tell them I said hello, they are not the type to read things on line.

Beautiful accomodations in this victorian home and great breakfast…read more However, we did have a very disconcerting experience with the owner - who apparently lives across the street. He called us as soon as we got back from dinner to inquire about why the windows in our room were open. My husband explained that we enjoyed the freash air. The owner then went on to say that the air was unsafe due to all the manufacturing in the area (which made no sense as there were not alerts on air quality) and/or the heat was on and the windows should not be opened (which didn't make sense since we were the only two in the house that night and there was no need for a heater). It was odd and concerning the owner called as soon as we arrived back from dinner with made us feel like he was either watching us or had cameras in the house. His tone and demeanor were pretty negative and quite frankly made it difficult for us to be comfortable in the bed and breakfast for the rest of the evening. We have traveled across the county in the last month, from CA to Boston, and prior to this we have traveled all over the world...and this is by far the oddest and most uncomfortable situation we have experienced in our 50+ years of traveling.

We stayed in the Studio Lodge. It was spacious with a full kitchen and separate bedroom. An assortment of snacks and drinks were provided. Breakfast was a feast - French toast, eggs, bacon, muffins, fresh fruit and coffee. Pat & Tom are charming and easy to talk with. Whoever visits the CVE B&B is very fortunate. May God bless.

By far the most amazing bed and breakfast I've ever visited!…read more The home (reconstructed and build by the owners) sits atop the highest peak in the area and overlooks the most amazing rolling hills. In the early morning hours and sometimes even during the day - the surrounding hills cover with fog and you feel like you're standing on an island in the middle of the ocean. It's utterly breathtaking. (I highly recommend staying in the upstairs bedroom! Super comfy beds, an awesome bathroom/shower, and a perfect view of the rolling hills!) A large group of wedding vendors and I photographed a styled wedding on the property and we couldn't have been happier with the end result. There are acres and acres of beautiful trails to walk, a large pond full of fish, an awesome bonfire and outdoor bar, as well as a beautiful barn on the land. The space is utterly perfect for country or outdoor weddings! I cannot wait to visit again - both for professional reasons and for personal!
