The venue is conveniently located on Brickell's main avenue, yet it feels reserved for those who already know the top-tier service their team provides. I was immediately greeted by the manager, Raúl, who welcomed me to explore the space with no pressure. I noticed his attention to detail as he worked on a client's cut, carefully measuring and outlining each section of the hair. The client looked completely relaxed, clearly enjoying the experience. Raúl introduced me to Eduardo, who took on the challenge of impressing me with his scissor skills (yes, I only get scissor cuts), as I prefer a classic style. As I described what I wanted, Eduardo understood right away. He then guided me to the wash station, where the shampoo felt like a refreshing massage, perfect for cooling down the Miami summer heat. The pleasant scent of the product (which everyone else also acknowledged) lasted a couple of days after, even after already washing my hair. To enhance the experience, he offered drinks ranging from whiskey and beer to a traditional Venezuelan holiday drink called "Ponche Crema" (known as "Coquito" in Miami, or Nutmeg in the rest of the world). The Ponche brought a wave of nostalgia, it tasted just as I remembered from holidays back home. Eduardo continued with calm precision, cutting my hair step by step, checking in to ensure I was happy with the length and flow. That level of care really stood out, most barbers don't take the time, which has often left me disappointed. Eduardo's method and technique made it clear that he's not just skilled but truly passionate about his craft. As he finished, he confirmed that I was satisfied, which I genuinely was, for the first time without needing any corrections. Before leaving, I explored the shop further. They sell quality hair products, including my all-time favorite Venezuelan signature hairstyle product, Rolda, which is distinguished for its excellent quality (Promised no co-sponsorship here) and they even have a PlayStation in the lobby if you're waiting. The decor and vibe reflect a strong Venezuelan/Latin energy, you can feel the camaraderie among the team. It's like hanging out with your neighborhood "panas" who just happen to be amazing barbers. Thank you, Born Barbers @ Brickell, especially a LOUD shoutout to Raúl and Eduardo, for not only delivering a great cut but creating the most chill and enjoyable haircut experience I've ever had! Otro nivel panas, tremendo estilacho!

Gustavo Briand's women's haircuts have become increasingly poor quality. Historically he had cut…read moremy hair into long layers and I would only visit him for my hair cut and keratin treatments. In June 2023 I asked him for a trim specifically no more than 1/2" cut. He cut several inches off my length and didn't layer the hair sufficiently. Please see the attached photos. The black jacket photo was the before where the front of my hair was several inches below my chin. The after photo shows the hair shorter than my chin without blending. My hair was a hideous mess that required another cut from a different stylist. I will never be his customer again. Gustavo behaved incredibly rudely during my last salon visit. I scheduled an appointment through Booksy and paid the deposit. When I arrived for the confirmed appointment, another woman was in the middle of a cut and keratin service. I waited for him. Then very late into the evening he starts my cut. Gustavo called offering to "fix" the cut and a keratin treatment for free. His gesture was kind, but his dramatic cut of several inches of hair, when I asked for a trim, broke the relationship. Another stylist candidly indicated that Gustavo may have used a thinning shear on my hair or a dull scissor. My hair had many unusual cut lines some going at angle from the back to the front. The hair in the front had a hard cut line of several inches. Gustavo is a nice person. I simply do not understand or know why he cut several inches of hair when I asked for a trim. Gustavo cannot "fix" over cutting the hair. In six months my hair will be "fixed" when it grows another three inches. I would encourage his clients for a thorough discussion about what you want whether it is your first or successive visit to his salon.

The shop was founded in 2015 and is locally owned by Christian Alvarez, who built it with the idea of bringing back a traditional, high-quality men's grooming experience to the Grove--and it absolutely shows. With a couple of hours to spare before catching a movie, and in need of a haircut, I decided to give this place a try as a walk-in. The moment I walked in, I was greeted by a friendly, smiling staff member who immediately made me feel welcome and got me set up without an appointment. I was paired with Grace, my barber for the day that's originally from Argentina and been cutting men's hair in Miami for over three years. She was outstanding. We spent time talking, and by the time she finished, it felt like I had known her for years. As someone who's always a bit skeptical trying a new barber as a walk-in, I was extremely impressed. I walked out so happy with my haircut that I even took a selfie and posted it on Yelp. This classic barbershop offers a full range of services, including: * Men's haircuts * Beard trims and shaping * Hot towel shaves * Line-ups and detailing * Hair washing and styling * Kids' cuts The shop itself is spotless, modern, and very well organized. The staff is professional, highly qualified, and truly customer-oriented, delivering the kind of attention to detail you don't always find anymore. They even offer coffee, cappuccino, soda, and more while you wait or during your service. I didn't try it myself, but Erika B, who was with me and said the cappuccino was fresh and delicious. Even though the pricing is on the higher end, the service was top-notch and absolutely worth it. Before I left for the movies, they even washed my hair, which was a great touch. I highly recommend The Spot Classic Barber Shop and look forward to returning for my next cut. A true gem in Coconut Grove.
