We made a reservation a few hours before, and were accommodated for lunch on a Thursday with our large party without any issues. We were sat against the wall with the fold down movie theater seats but be careful - when I stood up I ended up pulling my seat off and was no longer able to use the chair! Most of the diners in my party shared different burgers (which they all enjoyed and seemed to be enough to share). I selected the Le Wok de Canard which was a duck stir fry. It was very delicious and the meat was quite tender. It was served on a bed of thinly slides vegetables like carrots and zucchini. For being located in a smaller city (not Paris) I would have expected the servers to be a little more friendly but they were friendly enough for it not to impact our experience. I would recommend Les Cornichons but allow for more time to enjoy the decor and atmosphere.

Our server was fantastic and made the evening even more enjoyable. The veal stew, oysters, and shrimp were all excellent, but the standout was the house-made butter, easily some of the best we've ever had. Everything was beautifully prepared and full of flavor. A memorable meal that we would absolutely recommend.

The chicken is cold and the lettuce looked like they made it that morning and put the whole thing in the cooler to serve at dinner. Dressing was almost non existent. The lamb from Lozère, goat cheese ravioli, and zucchini flower dish was just okay, but I have found that France in general does not prepare meats as well as the U.S. At the end of the meal, just when I thought I couldn't stuff more food into my stomach, the staff brought out more miniature desserts...which I managed to somehow squeeze into me. Did I mention there were more miniature desserts after the actual dessert course yet?!

Then for the main course I had the "homemade" grey shrimp croquettes which were barley filled with shrimp and came with no fried parsley or lemon. These were served with fries which were not bad, but were very bland. Service was very very slow and we had to go down to ask for water and pay the bill. Overall my dishes (2) came to the price tag of €40. We didn't bother with desert. In the end I recommend going out of Dinant for dinner even though the places are harder to find but are cheaper and much better.
