    Bourbon lemonade my fav

In 2010 two brothers decided to open Le Boucan Smokehouse on Notre-Dame W. Street, in an old antique shop, in Montreal district called Griffintown. Le Boucan is known for its ribs, pulled pork and chicken wings as well as it's beautiful bourbons. On my last visit on Friday night I did notice a slight decrease in the food quality, quantity and ambiance. The reason I always come back here is because of the wings, they're smoked and sweet and the Alabama sauce is on point. I don't have any complaints about the wings I enjoyed every bite. However the salmon was a small "7 oz and tasteless piece of fish, the sides were even worse.. frozen veggies. The ribs were dry and came with no sauce so had to ask for some, the sides again weren't very good the coleslaw needed salt and salt and salt. My salad was great fresh greens and I swapped out the dressing for the Alabama sauce and it was great. The most disappointing part was the cake at the end last time it took them 30 minutes to make it and it was amazing this time half that time and you could tell it wasn't fully cooked. So disappointing. I Over heard the waitress telling clients that it's late and that they usually don't serve ppl so late almost hinting them to get out, pretty dumb as there's so many dumping places on notre dame you don't want to lose clients. I've noticed it's not as busy as it used to be seeing that there's so many new hip and chic spots. So let's break it down Food :3.5 Ambiance:3 Price:3 They need to step their game up as there's loads of new spots opening daily, I get it that they are one of the only smoked house but we have rube and black strap as well.

The food is always delicious here, the service a bit to be desired. We walked into a pretty empty restaurant on a Wednesday at 6:30. The bartender greeted us and asked if we had a reservation. When we said no and inquired if we needed one she shrugged, sighed and then pointed us to a table. No other tables came in while we were there, roughly 45 minutes. I asked if they still had red stripe (beer) on the menu and she informed me she didn't but tried to guide me to other red beers that I would like. When I asked if she had any pale lagers she looked at me funny and continues to offer me red beers, almost confused as to why I'd ask for a pale beer. Red stripe is a pale lager and not a red but oh well. #beersnob The waitress that brought our food was very pleasant and smiley. We ordered a pulled pork poutine and Mac and cheese; Both REALLY good, however the poutine doesn't come with a lot of fries or cheese but still really good. For a dollar more you can get their home made habanero sauce and it's DELICIOUSLY SPICY and compliments the Mac and cheese nicely. Good food, probably caught the bartender on a bad day which sucks but happens, would go again tho.

Had a very good brunch in the backyard here. The cocktails, thick cut crispy bacon, and nice (albeit slow) service made for a great experience. I can't emphasize enough how great the bacon was. It was good. Cool "mule" cocktails too with a mini ginger beer bottle in each glass.

I came to le Boucan for a birthday party. I was happy to see there was plenty of free parking in the area. My friends came here for their ribs. The restaurant is small- it was annoying because there wasn't enough coat hooks to put our coats away .The one that is available- I had to stand on the chairs of the booth to reach it (kind of ridiculous). For food I ordered the beef brisket sandwich with a side of their staple cheesy corn and potato salad. The beef was very well cooked and tender. Great cuts. As an overall meal- I wasn't crazy about it- maybe because I expected more from a smokehouse. The sides were also average. For dessert, the buttermilk pie with ice cream was pleasantly nice- not too sweet. As a smokehouse- I would grade this as average until this I will be on the search for Montreal's finest.

This place is a small and cozy restaurant at first sight, but there is apparently seating out in the back too. Our server was friendly, spoke English, and looked like Ryan Gosling. We had a little bit of everything: Wings, ribs, chicken, pulled pork, fries, potato salad, coleslaw, and mac n cheese. I have been going to quite a few rib festivals this year and i have to say that the ribs here were one of the best, if not the best, I've had all summer. Everything was delicious. I will definitely come back and recommend the place to anybody in Montreal.

This place was serendipity. We actually were trying to go to JUNIORs Philippine restaurant a couple of doors down but they were closed. Started walking towards a Yelp recommended place around the corner and passed this place. Why not we thought. Lo and behold BEST ribs I have had in Montreal. I kid you not. Chicken was very good too. Nice selection of beers; great ambiance; friendly staff. What is there not to like!

I ordered the pulled pork Poutine and loved it! I also ate some wings which were great as well. They have a great selection of drinks. I ordered my regular vodka cran but my friend tried a few of their whiskies. Our waiter was super friendly and knew a lot about whiskey and was able to make recommendations to my friend. The atmosphere was cool, there was a small terasse out back (we called to reserve an outside table) and all the staff was amazing. I can't wait to go back and try their Mac and cheese :) Update: I tried the Mac and cheese and it was good but there were too many onions for my liking.

I left disappointed. And disappointed that I was disappointed if that makes any sense. I wanted to love this place. I fist saw it on the TV show The Opener where (somewhat) celebrity Chef David Adjey help these 3 sweet guys open their first restaurant. I can see that most of what they put on the menu remains today. So I ordered the burger, and it was just boring. Like a burger from Chenoys would be. One of my friends had it as well and we felt exactly the same. There was some mystery meat on top of the patty, maybe bacon, but it was raw. My 3 other friends had the chicken and all thought it was real dry. Everything else about this joint was cool, the decor, waitresses, terrace, etc... I will give it another try when someone suggests it. This friendly lady started up a conversation with me as I waited for my table. She recommended the pulled pork and the poutine. Next time I'll listen to her. Give it a try!

Located in the heart of Old Port, this small joint offers a simple menu of bbq meats and sides. There is only beef ribs, porc ribs, pulled pork, brisket and smoked chicken, served with your choice of mac and cheese, coleslaw and baked beans. There are no appetizers and no deserts - however there is a cocktail and drinks menu. I do find it odd that the food menu is not posted on the website, nor on their social media. I saw some outdated photos of the menu other customers posted. The only place to see a physical menu is on the outside of the restaurant itself, otherwise once seated, there is nothing printed and the server will be the one to talk through the options. My partner and I opted for the beef ribs (there is an extra $7 for this option), pork ribs and smoked chicken. The meats were all very tender but lacked flavor - as if there was not enough seasoning or sauce. We had sides of mac and cheese and coleslaw. The food was very good, but not amazing and expensive for around $40 a person to start with plus the surchage for beef ribs. Cocktails were around $17. Very pricy dinner, for this, I expected larger portions. I found the Texas bbq experience to be lacking despite the website claiming this is Texas style. They surely do not serve American sized portions. I am a slim female with a healthy appetite and was disappointed in the lack of food, especially for the sides. There are maybe 3 or 4 bites of coleslaw or mac and cheese in each serving, yet these are the cheapest foods I don't understand why they couldn't be more generous. The time it took to prepare the food and serve us was also puzzling. We arrived when the restaurant just opened and were among the first to order yet waited probably a good half hour or more before our food arrived. The meats are all cooked in advance and I suspect the sides were as well - as we overheard a server mentioning the food is smoked in St-Eustache which is North, outside the island of Montreal. There are no smokers on site at this restaurant. I am glad I tried this place as there is a shortage of good BBQ within Montreal - however due to the portion size, slow service, price and location I would not come back. Unfortunately there is no parking nearby so be ready to pay upwards of $25-$30 for a paid parking lot, or take public transit if you can.

I thought I had pre-booked a reservation, and we were running late. Parking in this area can be a trick. I dropped my wife off and continued to locate parking. She contacted me and said there was no reservation. I panicked as I parked my truck and sifted through my emails for a confirmation. I hustled the 0.4 miles back to her. When I went in the hostess said it wouldn't be a problem and brought us to a table. My wife later told me she was offered tea while she waited. The waiter was on spot. He knew their menu and provided us with his insights. All the food was Devine. Beautifully laid out and brought out each course in the perfect time. My wife loved the hibachi, she doesn't eat much in general and I do most of the cooking at home. She couldn't get enough of putting items in the hibachi and moving them around. Guess I need a hibachi at home lol. Also my wife is 86 pounds, so she gets cold easy. The hibachi was the perfect personal heater too!! We had a great time together. The ambiance had that perfect Japanese appeal, while still modern. I used to live in Japan so I can be skeptical when it comes to Japanese flair & food. This establishment did not disappoint. So if you are in Montreal, I highly recommend giving this place a go. Side note, pricing is very reasonable considering what is included in packages. And the Saki I had was delicious and looking it up for the going rate they make around $5 per bottle based on what they sell it for and market retail price (place around the corner up charges 110%). So you are more than getting what you pay for in my opinion. And sometimes you just cannot put a price on excellent service! We will definitely be returning when we venture. To Montreal again.

Service was very attentive although the kitchen was quite slow. Our appetizers came 1 hour after our meats arrived, which was a bit strange. Ambiance is a bit cold since the tables are so close to the doors, so we constantly felt a gust of cold air during our visit.

No more wonderful steak Philly on the Friday. Most of what was offered on that daily menu is permanently gone. They added many different poutine that actually existed before but part of a secret menu you could learn from their social network page. Some starter too. They change the recipe of some of the food. The Mac N cheese is now more creamier and the cheese is more present and flavourful. I never had it by itself, but in the poutine Mac TeX, it's a miss for me. It used to be the poutine I always take when I go there, poutine Mac TeX. Tried it 4 times already since the switch, always the same and I don't like it unfortunately. Maybe others don't. From the post they made on Instagram stating that it was now creamier due to popular demand, I guess that's how people like it. But I think people was taking it by itself and not into a poutine (I never see much people eating a mac te when I'm there). Also the new Mac N cheese on the Mac TeX make it you taste nothing except the creamy liquid cheese from the Mac N cheese, nothing else. I normally add the homemade steak sauce available on the table in the poutine and when I tried it with the new recipe, it wasn't good. I also trie the dirty Poutine. I totally forgot what it is. There's like 2 sauce, I think it's meat sauce? Sorry I really forget. It was good, but about half way through, I was done with the taste just like the current Mac TeX. I still finished it though. Again, it's not bad, everyone has different taste and I started by liking it. I had the same experience when eating the smashburger poutine after eating a smash burger. Don't do it, take either one, not both unless your really into the taste of smashburger cause that's the only thing you taste. Last time I went, I took again the smashburger double cheese and bacon, a must for me, and I took a regular poutine. First time in what, 2 years and at least 30 visit that I take the regular one. It was good. I do miss my og Mac TeX but it's a good replacement. The bonus is it cost about 10$ less and fill less, so I was able to take something off the desert menu for the first time. I toon the chocolate cake and it was very good. The service is always good when I go there. It might be a bit a miss when it's overbooked specially if your table is hidden In a corner (happened a bit in the past). The only reason I bring from 5 to 4 stars is only because I prefered the old menu and old recipe. I did talk to a staff last time about the Mac TeX recipe and was told sometime it's because of new chef. I guess he wasn't aware that the recipe actually change, he did seemed new since I hadn't seen him before. I'll talk to jack or one of the owner last time, not to bad mouth, simply to have feedback from customer on the menu.
