    Chocolate chip cookie

Took me awhile to come back here after my first visit. Enjoyed my meal this time just as much. It was surprisingly very busy on a Tuesday at 6pm. Many tables taken and a (fairly short) line. The two staff members working were very pleasant! I was tempted to order the Tibetan mama again but instead went with the vegetable tajine. Very flavorful. They didn't have any juices available; I wanted to try the one with beets. We got dessert instead. We had the brownie and I took a chocolate chip cookie to go. Both are worth it!

Fast casual bougie vegan food. Veers more towards hearty bowls than light salads, so I'm a fan. I especially like how there are so many pre-configurations, so you don't have to guess what tastes good together. Mezze: Re-reading the description, they totally forgot my gluten-free crackers. That totally affected my experience, because it felt odd just eating the spreads with a fork. I really like the veggie balls, they were falafel-like. The noodle-like things had a weird texture. Tibetan Mama: So delicious! Loved the dominant flavor of coconut curry and slight kick. Nice thick texture. The veggies we amply covered in that thick curry. Vegetable Tajine: A tad watery and not as flavorful as the Tibetan Mama. I did enjoy the potatoes. The quinoa was a fun replacement for couscous. Lemonade: Premade, but served over ice. Decent.

I wanted to like this place as it's vegan and gluten free. Ordered from here 3 different items and 2 of the 3 had long black curly hair in it. I walked all the way to Le Botaniste to get one of the items replaced and then went home and found black curly hair again. Due to the unpleasant experience and the unfriendly management who didn't even say they were sorry and were trying to blame me, I will never eat here again.

I've walked past Le Botaniste plenty of times, but never actually had a good idea of what this food concept was. The interior has plenty of seating and it's a more fast casual place where you order at the counter. There's plenty of items on the menu as well as the option to make your own bowl. The staff was nice to allow my group to sample a few of the stews before committing, and that was quite helpful as it was difficult to choose. I chose the peanut curry which had a rich coconut milk based broth with chickpeas and some other veg. I asked if I could do half and half of the stews but that unfortunately wasn't possible. From there, there's the option to pick three additional toppings, but I really had a hard time narrowing down. There's options from a variety of hummus flavors to tofu to pickled onions. I ended up selected a few options that didn't necessarily compliment the flavor profile of my curry, but it was hard to pass up the opportunity to try a coconut ceviche. The toppings also didn't feel equally weighted, not sure microgreens and tofu are in the same category. The meal was overall flavorful and filling, my non-vegan friends enjoyed their food equally as much. It is a very earthy place; there are some interesting vegan/raw dessert options at the counter. Great spot for a warm, healthy meal - just wish there was a bit more flexibility in making the bowls.

The service was so elite here! The staff came from behind the high glass counter to greet and walk through the specials - the warmth of that felt standout! It was the icing on the cake for me deciding to eat here over somewhere else! They also offered a taste test of the new specials which I hadn't experienced at other locations. The Saag, which I tested, was really good just mushy likely from the eggplant in it (I'm texture sensitive). I ordered my regular -- the Moroccan Tajine and tried the electrolyte coconut water with infused passion fruit. This was the perfect meal for an intense post-run! Go, enjoy!!!

Le Botaniste definitely has an intersecting selection of plant based food. I had a seasonal special called Saag Bota that included curry chickpea hummus, sweet potato's, rice, Ayurvedic cracker etc. it was very good. I thought the restaurant has table service but it appears you go up and place your order and they make it for you right there. They have a small selection of desserts and drinks too. There's a decent amount of seating throughout the restaurant. They also have a bathroom for customer use. Prices are average to high depending on what you get. The staff is as available to answer questions when you are browsing the menu. Overall, not bad! I'd go back to try something else.

    $15.50: Tibetan Mama

I typically don't review chains, but we had fantastic customer service at this Le Botaniste location, so I wanted to share the appreciation! The space has a nice, modern feel, and there is a decent amount of seating. There is a water bottle on each table for customers who are dining in. Le Botaniste has your typical plant-based menu with the higher prices associated with other health food chains in the city. Kimari recommended the seasonal Mediterranean Salad bowl, and let us sample a few of the components, so I ended up getting that ($15.50) and my friend got the Tibetan Mama ($15.50). Size-wise, my bowl definitely felt like more bang for your buck, and if you eat smaller meals, you could definitely split it in half and feel full. My friend still felt hungry after finishing the Tibetan Mama. Le Botaniste makes veggies tasty, and we enjoy their food! One small note is that the Mediterranean bowl comes with a tumeric sauce. If you're sensitive to that flavor, then request for them to go easy on it, because it can be overpowering. Kimari did an amazing job selling me on the Mediterranean bowl, and really knew the menu inside and out! I appreciated that he approached it by highlighting the ingredients instead of just pushing the fact that it was seasonal. He also let me sample the tumeric sauce before I went for it, to make sure I would be happy with the taste. Then, as we were eating, the manager came out and also checked in on us to make sure we were doing okay! My only issue with service was that it was really hot and we did run out of water, and no one helped us out with that. Otherwise, this was a very pleasant dining experience!

A unique little health food shop near Central Park -- they had a nice outdoor patio and lots of hearty options. The food was light and felt like a home-cooked meal -- I loved the seasonal Saag dish.

This sandwich is usually not something that is available vegetarian so i was curious to see the flavors and textures. The steak is chewy and meaty so if you are not a fan of faux meat then i would proceed with caution. I enjoy the cheeses here as they are unique and different from each other. The sandwich overall was okay though not my favorite sandwich ever. - smoked Mac and cheese (7/10): macaroni with smoked goat cheese, cheddar, mozzarella baked in a cast iron skillet and topped with vegan pancetta and breadcrumbs. This was a cozy appetizer especially on a cold day. The flavors of the cheese are rich and smoky with a hint of saltiness from the pancetta and breadcrumbs. I would have liked it to be a larger portion and offered as an entree. WOULD I GO BACK? Maybe. I liked the ambiance and the option to try dishes that are usually meat heavy but the cuisine is not my personal favorite.

They take pride in their restaurant's offerings, as they should. My server was wonderful, offering suggestions to this first-timer. I started with a Volcano Roll - hearts of palm substituting for fish. Well balanced and delicious. Next was broccoli "beef" - fresh broccoli and shitake "steak" with mushrooms really balanced the dish. I ended with something so unnecessary and so wonderful, I'm glad I did it: The sticky toffee pudding. Just pure delight. It was relatively quiet when I was there. I could see how it could get a bit noisy if it were crowded. But even so, the people who visit are friendly and I ended up having a great conversation with the table next to me. I'll be back. I'm not exactly local, but it's definitely worth the trip! Planta is on my faves list now!

Funny enough, we met our only other vegan friend there. So, from the vegan perspective, this is a popular and tasty place. We started with drinks, being lunchtime, we opted for non alcoholic drinks, the matcha colada and the salty maple macchiato. The matcha colada had a nice color but tasted mostly like coconut and pineapple which was still yummy. Friends ordered 3 different kinds of sushi and dan dan noodles with tofu. I was confused with the sushi as I thought vegans didn't eat fish...so yes I asked and was told that they probably made the "fish" with tapioca. I did try a bite of each roll (I was still full from the fest) and I was surprised that it tasted pretty good. They did a nice job with the roll and presentation. The matcha cheesecake was nice and creamy. I would not have known it was vegan. I don't normally like food that pretends to be something else because it usually doesn't live up to the real thing. The idea is that it is not pretending to be something but rather substituting with vegan options, I do think from a health perspective, I am more open to trying more vegan foods. Ambiance felt upscale and wait staff were helpful and congenial. I hear dinner time gets packed here. I may have to try again when I have not eaten already.

The space was super clean, calm, and had a vibe that felt authentic to the cuisine. The staff was also incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and fast, which made the whole experience even better. But the food is what really blew me away. I got the Korean Wild Green Tea First Picked, and it was unreal. Yes, it had that beautiful green tea character, but it was so much more layered than that--smooth, complex, almost naturally sweet, and honestly one of the most memorable teas I've had anywhere. I also ordered the iced matcha latte, and it was easily the best matcha latte I've ever had: no grittiness at all, just incredibly smooth, creamy, and perfectly balanced. We also had the baby dumplings in spicy sauce, popcorn shrimp, fried Manchurian cauliflower, spicy kimchi pancakes, Peking duck baos, and the duck rice bowl. Every single dish was excellent. I'm still baffled by how well they nailed the shrimp texture--seriously impressive. The flavors across the board were rich, creative, and satisfying without feeling heavy.
