Brasserie Bellanger - Couldn't decide between the Bernaise sauce or garlic herb butter so got both!

Oh my goodness, what a find! We stopped here for no better reason than our apartment was right…read morearound the corner and we were in the mood for a nice French lunch. Such good luck! I started with the free-range eggs with mayo, and my wife started with the leeks with vinaigrette. The eggs were delicious, but the leeks may have been the best preparation I've ever had in my life. For our main courses, she had the egg muffin, and I had the sausage and mash. Our meal was superb. Whoever is in the kitchen has clearly learned the art of French cuisine well. Service was fantastic, the people-watching (we ate al fresco) was fantastic, and I simply couldn't think of a way to make this a better meal.

Luca was my server and he was very welcoming in hospitable to this weary traveler. I sat on the patio towards the end of the row so I could take in the atmosphere and people watch a bit. Luca Recommended a meal with a mashed potatoes and sausage with French bread and salad and it sounded tasty so I gave it a go! All the flavors went well together; mashed potatoes were well seasoned the sausage had a good flavor, and the salad with the vinaigrette added a crunch in an extra flavor as well. I drank a French hard cider while I gobbled up my meal, which also was new for me and tasted great after I was done my meal. Luke brought me a shot with rum and some other ingredients, including lemon that definitely hit the spot after a good meal.I recommend Brasserie Belanger for anyone near GDN Train Station that enjoys great food and patio dining. Cheers!

Wide variety of seating, food, and flavors!…read more I made a lunch reservation at 1:30 on a Monday. They still had some tables empty but a reservation is a good idea to be sure. I was seated in the backroom which was all high tables and very quiet. Notre Pâté en croûte - This was great. A slice of bread with chunks of duck and other meat with pickled items on the side (which I always love!) and a little bit of lettuce. It is not like a spreadable paté. Capra (salade) - this was a large salad with three large fried goat cheese balls. I had to take much of it with me. It has a variety of ingredients which don't necessarily go together but you can mix and match with each bite. They have a QR code to their website for the English menu if you need. I was stopped at the door asking if I paid which was strange because the tables in my section all have QR codes on them to pay before leaving. Do Parisians not use these? Next time: I'll sit upstairs and try some other dishes.

This place is BUSY and reservations are highly recommended. They have sufficient staff working here and they all are very attentive. Food omg, who knew you could do SO much with pomegranate seeds. Ahi Tuna was mouth watering delicious. It came with rice and tossed with pomegranate seeds. It was so flavorful and tasty. Ceviche also had pomegranate seeds and honestly never imagined how tasty the two combined are. Our guest had duck with was marinated in orange and lemon juice, served with mashed potatoes and veggies. Duck was cooked well and very juicy. So glad this restaurant came highly recommended and I can't wait to be back here.

Unfortunately, it was past 10 pm so a lot of places were closed. We were getting frantic trying to find a restaurant that was still open. We finally pinged this place on GoogleMaps. I have to say, this place is the definition of a hidden gem. It's a small French tapas place off on a side street that unless you were really searching, you would probably walk by it in favor of larger restaurants. I don't know if our waiter was also the owner or the sommelier, but either way, his English was limited. Luckily, my fiancee's sister speaks French so she was able to translate the menu (to an extent). As such, this was a tapas restaurant so everything was small plates and meant to be shared. I don't remember the exact name of everything we ordered, but I remember a Pad Thai, a beef dish, smoked salmon, octopus, and a fried dish (maybe calamari, but I don't remember). The food is excellent and packed with flavor. You'd be surprised how filling these little dishes can be. If you ever come to Paris, I recommend going off the beaten path for this little piece of heaven.

The food was served tapas style, and they have deals such as getting 5 (or 10!) plates at a discounted price. We ordered 5 for the two of us, but the tapas here are much larger than they are in the states, so we were STUFFED and didn't even finish three fourths of it! Well worth the money. Because it is a more authentic place, most waiters didn't speak English. They were helpful to the best of their ability, and I would highly suggest giving them a try even if you're not overly confident in your French!

We had a chicken stir fry bowl that was served with crusty bread and the meal was absolutely incredible! We decided we had to try dessert because they looked far too tempting to pass up. When checking online to confirm our train times we saw the schedule had moved up and we were concerned we'd have to skip dessert. Our server assured us it would come quickly and he was not kidding; I'm glad we listened. The cream brûlée and the fondant au chocolat were outstanding! While it would have been lovely to linger over our meal the staff made sure we could be on our way. It was a great finish to a whirl wind overnight in Paris. I would most definitely recommend planning a meal there before or after traveling!

I also had the orange juice, which was fresh and delicious. Overall, a great experience!
