The restaurant has a very nice menu, well presented and delicious dishes, a relaxing piano player and a good selection of liquors and wines. The only minus, which keeps this restaurant from attaining a solid 5 stars is that the staff is very attentive. What? Why lower the rating you ask? As another reviewer stated, the service at times feels a bit overbearing. I had at least 6-7 different people bringing and taking drinks, plates and food dishes to / from my table. It sometimes feels as if the wait staff is hovering to bring or take something which can get a bit annoying. Tempura shrimp and mussel appetizer was tasty & well presented. The sea bass main course was really good and looked impressive. Tasty bread and spread selections. For a quality meal and relaxing piano tunes, 'The Crab' is your go to venue. Beware of the hovering and at times, overly attentive wait staff.

The WORST dining experience ever!…read more Heads up, do not order the Oysters, they gave myself, my mother and husband FOOD POISONING!!!! AVOID Loch Fyne has got to be at the top of my list for the worst place I've eaten at in my life! We visited here on the 2nd January 2020 and this review has been written on the 14th January as I have tried to give the restaurant plenty of time to rectify the matter, but they haven't!! My husband and myself took my mum here for lunch. We started off by ordering 12 Oysters to share - 4 each then each had an entree and main course. We were told by the waiter that the oysters were fresh so we went ahead and ordered them. They came with Tabasco, lemon and shallots in red wine vinegar which I wish we didn't use as this probably disguised the freshness. They didn't look like the freshest oysters I have seen but I trusted the restaurant - being a seafood restaurant that they wouldn't serve us something that could potentially kill us! We are 100% Sure that it was the oysters as they were the only thing we all ate that was the same. The following day I got really sick and was up vomiting all night, followed by my husband and I called my mum up the next morning and she too was also sick. We had zero sleep that night and had to drive to the airport in the morning so it was a very uncomfortable trip. Eating at Loch Fyne was the worst experience ever, I have never been sick from something I've eaten so I am pretty pissed off that I got this ill from a restaurant. I reported this to the Council / Health department right away and they are investigating the matter. I also emailed management and they have been really slack in getting back to me and haven't even offered me a refund even though I am able to prove that we have seen our Dr and he confirms that we had food poisoning. While I have never written a negative review before like this I believe it is important to tell others about this restaurant as if I had taken my grandparents here, they would most likely have died as a result of eating here.

Upstairs is the restaurant where in my opinion the best fish meals in town are served. With boarded floors and tongue and groove panelling on the walls there is a distinct nautical feel to the dining room, but it is warm and inviting. The menu is extensive and the staff friendly and knowledgeable about the different types of fish on offer. Rather than the tapas selection served previously, the menu now caters for much broader tastes (with a slight lean towards seafood perhaps). We were warmly welcomed upon arrival and shown to our table. The premises is split into two distinct sections, with the bar and a few tables in one half and pure dining in the other. The decor is modern and stylish whilst maintaining some degree of character. We learnt that the restaurant was fully-booked, so I enquired as to whether there were two sittings (and if we'd be rushed out). Thankfully they will only book one sitting per table per night, so your table is yours as long as you want it. The wine menu was perfectly acceptable, offering a range between around £13-20 per bottle. The menu offered a fantastic selection and was nicely complemented by the specials. Once ordered, we were treated to a complimentary amuse bouche of smoked haddock, potato and cream (delicious) before the food arrived. I won't go into vast detail about the food, but safe to say it was fantastic. The presentation was lovely, the flavours complex and there were sated grins from both sides of the table. The service was friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere was cozy and warm and the night genuinely couldn't have been better. We'll be returning.

The atmosphere in the restaurant was good and the staff were ever-present without hovering at the table waiting! We settled on some prosecco to start while we decided on the food. The menu was good, enough to give variety but not enough you cant make up your mind. A really nice surprise was the amuse bouche which was a slice of pear, blue vinney, walnut & a tiny bit of salad. It was a great flavour to start our meal with and defiantly set the pace for the meal. We ordered some excellent salads with the blue vinney salad standing out and the moules were well received. A bottle of Beaujolais and a white later the mains were brilliant with the pork fillet cooked superbly, the veggie burger devoured, some amazing fish and prawns the size you rarely see in the uk! The overall experience was great and the staff and the food both contributed to this. The bill was great value for 5 people with 3 bottles, starters, mains, deserts and Coffees was about £36 per head and for the quality of food we devoured it was a bargain!
