I don't often give five stars but when I do it means something {at least to me} hehe. I first discovered this place via a Yelp elite event where we tried some of their yummy items like liver sauce made their way. I was always looking for a reason to return and we finally managed to last night taking my boyfriend's parents for dinner here.
I recently had a horrible restaurant experience so the fact that we were treated so well was a huge huge plus for me. We walked in, were warmly greeted, handed flutes of prosecco while they took away our jackets. The interior is super cozy and romantic with beautiful tables and candles everywhere and an inner courtyard for summer dining.
The menu is small and changes seasonally, always marks of a great restaurant. I like the fact that give you a little 'pre-taste' from their kitchen (a shotglass of soup, spoon of veggies and crispy bread with cheese} a great way to whet your palate. They were also very helpful in suggesting wines, it is an enoteca so you can be assured of great quality, We were craving a rose, and the 'piano piano' toscano was really fabulous. good suggestion!
I got the vellutata di zucca with crispy parmigiani flakes which was out of this world. Creamy and good, I almost licked the plate. Plus the bread they give you is of superb quality, 10 points for that addition alone! As a second, I got the the filet of duck with potatos which I absolutely adored. Duck is not easy to cook and this was just perfect, I have no need for steak with a plate like this around, plus it was cooked with vin santo for a Tuscan twist.
My boyfriend and his parents loved their plates as well, seafood salads and fresh ravioli with seasonal veggies. We indulged in a little dessert, chocolate flan with a melted interior and cream on the side. Wow is all I have to say about that.
HIghly recommend coming here for a wonderful and intimate dining experience away from the world, deep in in the oltrarno, I can't wait to go back again.. read more
