We ended up here after going to Le Papayou which is, marked as a Thai restaurant on Yelp but, other than a few thai dishes on the menu, it's NOT a Thai restaurant. The waitress there recommended that we go to this place if we want Thai food :-) Sure enough we ended up here. I am fussy about Thai food and whilst the ambience and service here is good, the Thai food is only ok. The menu is very authentic thai and, there are about 10 main courses on the menu, all €12 each and, they include spring rolls (4 to a serve) & soups as main course. All courses except for dessert are one price. It was the most expensive spring roll dish I have ever seen ;-)) The food lacked the punch or flavour of a proper thai meal and, it contained too much aubergine in the curries. The dessert of sticky rice with mango was also ok. The mango was excellent but the rice itself was so so. This place is not cheap if you add drinks to your bill and, the food is ok. Maybe for France or, the French people this might be a great taste but, for me, it was not. Good thai is all about fragrance, texture and good strong flavours. The service here is excellent and they speak good English here. Not my choice of place for a meal but I would imagine it appeals to many others. The place was packed when we got there and there were a few people waiting in as the night went on.

You have to try their Tom Yum Kong, it's really good, the prawns are fresh and also their mushrooms. If you feel not spice enough they provide chili powder And the service are good, super friendly and they can speak English too

Amazing Thai food! We had their pad Thai, veggie fried rice and red curry chicken. All great food.

We got to the address per yelp and found the doors locked and chained and looks like they have been closed for awhile.

This restaurant serves authentic Thai food. Quality is good and prices reasonable. It can get quite busy.

Very impressive with service and food. If you crave for Thai food in Nice, this is the one. It will be crowded every night.

The husband has always spoken to me in French. Even if the restaurant is empty when you walk in, it doesn't mean the restaurant doesn't have reservations for later. Restaurants in Nice usually just do one seating per table. I always get the Crab Salad and Bo Bun. The Crab in the salad is REAL and not imitation. The dressing is a refreshing lemon dressing. I've had Pho here as well. I'm a regular here. I'm Japanese American and the owners are NOT racist.

We said no and he said we cannot dine without reservations. He said somethings in French we didn't understand and he didn't translate. I don't know what his business practice is, but to turn away walk ins when your restaurant is completely empty in low season and probably will not have any guests come that night is ridiculous to me. I have read reviews that said he's racist and turns away Asian non French speaking customers. Cannot verify that but that would be so sad because he's Asian too. How much self hate does he have? I feel sorry for him. Either way if you're Asian and get turned away, or if you're non Asian and was allowed to eat here without reservations let me know. I'm curious why he has a restaurant like this!

This review is strictly based upon our dining experiences (6 of us) at Lao Vientiane Restaurant…read more First of all...the name is deceiving to advertised as a Laotian restaurant. It IS NOT! It's a Vietnamese / something else and definitely NOT Lao or Thai. I asked our kind server if this was a Lao restaurant (hence the restaurant name) she looked at me like I was crazy for asking such question. Then she replied (No...its Vietnamese) The restaurant is very very very very small...if one blink, one will missed the restaurant. They have a total of 10 tables (2 people per table) and A server (ONE-server-probably the owner's daughter) was working the entire 10 tables. We were so hungry after traveling from Florence,Italy to Nice France on such a long drive. One would think the food would be outstanding considering how hungry we were. Oh la la...I have never had such awful Asian food in my life. The papaya salad had no flavor (it lacked all the ingredients of a tradition Lao or Thai papaya salad) the beef satay is beyond salty, the lemon grass beef smells like it was spoiled, the chicken curry is horrific and the pad Thai was made with fat noodle instead of the regular pho noodle. Speaking of pho, one of us ordered pho and she couldn't even stomach it. The flavor for all of our items were off and could NOT stomach the food. I am so sorry to give such a review...when it comes to food, we have high expectations and standards. we eat out around the would and love Asian food. What we had tonight was anything but. We will NOT be coming back to this restaurant.
