This review is strictly based upon our dining experiences (6 of us) at Lao Vientiane Restaurant. First of all...the name is deceiving to advertised as a Laotian restaurant. It IS NOT! It's a Vietnamese / something else and definitely NOT Lao or Thai. I asked our kind server if this was a Lao restaurant (hence the restaurant name) she looked at me like I was crazy for asking such question. Then she replied (No...its Vietnamese)
The restaurant is very very very very small...if one blink, one will missed the restaurant. They have a total of 10 tables (2 people per table) and A server (ONE-server-probably the owner's daughter) was working the entire 10 tables.
We were so hungry after traveling from Florence,Italy to Nice France on such a long drive. One would think the food would be outstanding considering how hungry we were. Oh la la...I have never had such awful Asian food in my life.
The papaya salad had no flavor (it lacked all the ingredients of a tradition Lao or Thai papaya salad) the beef satay is beyond salty, the lemon grass beef smells like it was spoiled, the chicken curry is horrific and the pad Thai was made with fat noodle instead of the regular pho noodle. Speaking of pho, one of us ordered pho and she couldn't even stomach it. The flavor for all of our items were off and could NOT stomach the food.
I am so sorry to give such a review...when it comes to food, we have high expectations and standards. we eat out around the would and love Asian food. What we had tonight was anything but.
We will NOT be coming back to this restaurant. read more
