I live in Nice, I'm Asian, I speak B1 level French but when I first started coming here, I spoke A1 level French. The owners are a couple. The wife speaks English. The husband has always spoken to me in French. Even if the restaurant is empty when you walk in, it doesn't mean the restaurant doesn't have reservations for later. Restaurants in Nice usually just do one seating per table. I always get the Crab Salad and Bo Bun. The Crab in the salad is REAL and not imitation. The dressing is a refreshing lemon dressing. Came here on a quiet weeknight in November and the restaurant was completely empty except for 2 guests at a table. Went in and the owner asked if we had reservations. We said no and he said we cannot dine without reservations. He said somethings in French we didn't understand and he didn't translate. I don't know what his business practice is, but to turn away walk ins when your restaurant is completely empty in low season and probably will not have any guests come that night is ridiculous to me. I have read reviews that said he's racist and turns away Asian non French speaking customers. Cannot verify that but that would be so sad because he's Asian too. How much self hate does he have? I feel sorry for him. Either way if you're Asian and get turned away, or if you're non Asian and was allowed to eat here without reservations let me know. Chinese and Viet spot with a good assortment of both. We mainly tried their noodle soup dishes which was hearty. The owner is friendly and accommodating, also speak English. Overall a good spot to hit up if you're missing a little Asian cuisine. read more

The food here was incredible! The service was also fantastic and we even got to chat with the daughter of the owner. We stumbled across this place and had the most pleasant experience. The crab egg rolls were DELICIOUS, as was the prawn dim sum. We also had the fried rice and vermicelli with prawns and vegetables, both of which were phenomenal. The service made you feel at home. The store itself is quite small, so I would recommend making a reservation. However we were fortunate enough to be able to walk in and get a table. As a Vietnamese person, I had heard Vietnamese food is good in France, but the duck and pho were phenomenal! Service was a bit slow but it was just the owner and his wife that appeared to be serving all the tables and running the restaurant. Definitely worth the wait in my opinion. I can see after my accusations and proof that the owner or whoever was running that place that night we walked in with my wife and kids is a racist that there are a few reviews saying otherwise and going out of their way to specifically say the owner was so nice and even gave them free blah blah blah. It doesnt take a rocket scientist to see that some of these reviews praising the owner itself are from accounts with no other reviews whatsiever!!! Meaning fake accounts made just to mask and disclaim the truth!! I have been a solid yelper and have hundreds of reviews under my belt and not once did i ever accuse any operator of being racist! But this was so blatant that i cannot help myself and accuse them!! Some of the reviews following mine are obvious fakes with just one review each and all 5 stars given. There was no service in that the man saw our group and asked "reservation" and when we said we didn't have one, he said "No!" - this was at 745pm (early for nice) when the restaurant was basically empty. He probably didnt want a kid (6yrs old) and a baby at a table. Can't tell you about the food but I can tell you our first and only impression was a terrible one. Would give zero stars if I could. Ordered the beef Vietnamese Pho with Chinese pork bun (both classics). After haven eaten lots of these around the world, this place makes them as good as can be done. The Pho was accompanied by fresh chilli, basil and raw bean sprouts. Ordered the fresh mango and it was presented beautifully. Very attentive staff member (he may of been the owner and he spoke very good English and French). Service was fast, about 10 minutes for food to arrive. read more

Having enjoyed quite a lot of wonderful French food during our stay in Nice, we were really looking forward to some good Asian cuisine as a change of pace, so we went to Le Mandarin for dinner. Long story short, this place was quite a disappointment! While the service was decent, and the staff was friendly, the food was just barely mediocre, with some dishes that turned out to be completely inedible. Doubtless our standards are way too high from having spent a lot of time in California, which features some very large Asian communities with a number of truly incredible restaurants. We'll chalk this one off to experience, but when we go to visit Ireland next year, we're going to focus on restaurants that feature traditional Irish fare, and we won't go looking for Asian food there either ;-) read more

Great service and delicious food. The owner was very personable. You get free shrimp chips in the beginning, he even gave us complimentary mango juice. My husband and I ordered the crab rolls, and those were really good, you wrap them with lettuce, bean sprouts, and carrots, then deep in sweet sauce. So good! Then I ordered the Vietnamese pho, which was what my tummy needed because I'm a little under the weather today. The beef used in the pho soup were nice, thick slices of beef. Also, very delicious dish. My husband ordered the beef curry satay and vegetable pan fried noodles, he was very happy with his choice. read more

This is our first night in Nice. Came from Shanghai, we did not even think about having Chinese food in France however saw Le Mandarin by chance when our original plan failed. We had a wonderful experience there, since the restaurant staff was very warm and friendly, and the "home made" dishes were do delicious which we did not expect. Strongly recommend you to have a try if the location is not so far from your hotel. read more

Definitely some of the best Chinese/Vietnamese food I've had in my entire life. The owner was incredibly friendly (showed us pictures of his trip to London after we told him where we're from) and spot on with his recommendations: Crispy rice with shrimp: delicious. Shrimp was very fresh and the sauce was not too sweet but flavored perfectly. Beef Satay Curry: get it. The beef is medium rare and incredibly tender paired with a phenomenal sauce. You can't go wrong Chicken Ginger: another great sauce and I also tend to avoid chicken dishes but this chicken was very fresh and took on the sauce excellently. The owner did not allow us to sit down and said that there were reservations. We went to the italian place next door and constantly checked to see if we were being refused service and sure enough, we were. There were at least 4 open tables and in the 3 times we came back to check, nobody ever showed up. We were refused from being seated rudely by the owner. Find another place to eat. read more
