I am remodeling a bedroom into a laundry/dog room - the electrician did all the wiring, the plumber set everything up for the WD and the sink, and my contractor patched up all the drywall and painted. Now for the cabinets all the way around.
My contractor found LCM sort of by accident, took a tour, thought the quality looked OK, so suggested we try them. I provided a floor plan that showed exactly what was to go where, the approximate sizes based on my measurements of the room, and photographs of what I wanted. Justun provided a first draft of plans, and cost estimate for my approval.
Next step was for Liviu to come out and take the actual measurements for production. When he arrived he commented that he usually brings a paper print-out of the plans, but had forgotten mine. But he could pull it up on his laptop which he did. But then he seemed to have trouble adding text boxes and notes on the plans. We discussed some minor changes like making all the drawer panels shaker style (rather than having the top panels plain), and he measured everything including for a door to the broom closet which had not been included in the first draft of plans.
The 2nd set of plans that Justun sent did NOT have the changes that I went over with Liviu, and also the north wall elevation still did NOT show the broom closet door - it had the room door, and the cabinets, but no broom closet. A drawing of the broom closet door was provided on a separate piece of paper, but in order to be sure everything would actually FIT as designed in the space provided, I wanted to see the door included to scale in the plans.
So Justun sent a 3rd set of plans. In this set, he removed the room door entirely from the elevation (!!!) and then just stuck the broom closet door in the middle of the remaining space. When I added up the measurements he showed for that wall, he had TWO INCHES more cabinet width than there is actual wall space to put cabinets.
When I called and spoke to Justun, and pointed out the cabinets as drawn were NOT going to fit when they arrived, he said he would have to go back to the "red line" copy, and get back to me. Never heard from him again. My contractor called, and he never heard from him again either.
I do NOT recommend this cabinet maker - I believe if I had proceeded with them I would have received cabinets that were 2" too big for the room. read more
