If you have a bigger grocery order, you would be better to drive East to No Frills or Food Basics. With Foodland's high prices, you would think this was the only store 500 miles back in the bush. It is the only grocery store in Amherstview. It is too bad this grocery store is so expensive because there are a lot of people on welfare and disability who reside in Amherstview that have no transportation. A lot of those people must have to rely on the food bank to supplement their groceries if they can only shop at Foodland.

If you fancy it, it's a nice walk to get to the store to get your provisions for the next leg of your voyage. Or, if you're local, it's a decent place to drive in and grab food for the week. This is a mainstay in Gananoque and has all the essentials and then some. Decent produce and meat cuts are available with a decent array of other consumables. The staff are friendly, helpful, and efficient. Also, if you find yourself in a pinch, their floral section can help you get out of the doghouse. A decent grocery store for sure.

My coffee was up to expectations for Horton's; chocolate dip doughnut was a little dry. The dining area was very clean, and I was impressed when returning the next day to see the staff scrubbing down the sidewalk in front of the doors with vinegar. I am glad I got to try a different location, but will be honest and say I prefer the other one. Not in the area of service, though. Jennifer took care of me and she gets a perfect 5 star from me. The difference between this one and the other, I would guess that this location is older. I really did like the sky painted on the ceiling. I had forgotten that I got the gluten-free buckwheat crepe as a base for my Tex Mex Benny at the first location and got the GF toast instead. It just wasn't quite as good. Much, much less veggies on the benny too, and when you have something else to compare it to, the food didn't taste as fresh. The eggs were cooked perfectly though, and the food was good, it's just when you go to another location, of course you are going to compare. But this was still a really good breakfast, and I enjoyed it. The service from Jennifer was way above average too. She really made the experience of eating there and makes a mean mimosa too! This location is also in a shopping centre and there was plenty of parking. It was a late Tuesday morning, so definitely wasn't overcrowded. Seating was comfortable and the bathroom was clean as well. Even though the Gardiner location is a little more 'fancy' and the food was a bit better by comparison, I would definitely come back to this location, especially since the service was just as wonderful here.

However, the okra was a huge (and possibly the only) letdown. The staff was a little dismissive, but I get it. Long and busy day at work, so I hold no grudge. They have ample parking spaces and the store itself is very spacious. They have a lot of sales and I find the prices quite phenomenal and I don't say that very often! I will definitely return if I'm ever around there.
