Lance and his team were fast and did a great job. They were also pleasant to work with and have in the house. We had just changed the stairs and the second floor from carpet to hardwood. They patched and painted the baseboards around the entire second floor and the stairs. They painted the stair risers and they painted three rooms as well. They taped carefully to get straight lines and removed outlet covers to do a thorough job. One thing to note is that they ask for a little flexibility with the exact start date (plus 0-3 days) since it is a small company and they want to line up their jobs to not leave workers without work/pay between jobs. That was ok for me. The price was also competitive when I got several quotes. I would definitely hire them again and recommend them to friends and family. read more

I'm happy that I chose Lance Cole Painting to paint the exterior of my Eichler house in Cupertino. The result is my house is better sealed against the elements and looks well cared for. Lance was easy to talk to and gave me his time to help me understand various options to get the effect I wanted for a reasonable price. The entire project took six work days, with about four crew members on average, with Lance there about half the time. His senior crew member was always there and also knowledgable and easy to talk to. At the end of every work day Lance and crew neatly put all their tools and materials away and disposed of any trash. Features about my painting project that Lance handled well are: * My Eichler home has a lot of wood detail, especially around the windows and doors. His crew painted them all correctly and neatly. * My home had cross-grain wood cut ends in the patio roof that had rotted due to rain exposure, a few other wood pieces on the wood paneling that were rotted, plus other wood that was never finished correctly. Lance's carpenter replaced the rotted wood and made the other repairs. I didn't need to manage a carpenter separately from the paint job. * The underside of my home's roof is cellutex panels, that extend from the underside of the eaves to the interior ceiling of the house throughout. The cellutex provides ceiling insulation and is hard to find and replace, and some of the outside panels were stained by leaking rainwater over the years. The outside layer of the cellutex was a little flakey and crusty, so Lance's crew had to gently scrape off the outer layer before painting it with special thick paint that would stick well. The cellutex panels look fine now. * The home's back porch roof consists of three layers: a lattice wood structure that is stained dark brown, a layer of boards placed across the lattice that is painted the same color as the house, topped by corrugated aluminum roof panels. Several small leaks in the aluminum had allowed rain to wear away the wood stain, so I knew the entire roof underside needed to be painted. It looked like it would be a lot of work -- and it was, but Lance and crew stained and painted it ALL correctly. I know Lance's price was fair because I interviewed a total of six painting contractors before I chose him. All the painters had good reviews on Yelp or Consumer Checkbook and almost all of them I think would have done a good job. The interview process taught me what to expect when painting my house. A tip, all the painters said they started their exterior painting projects by power washing the house. Do put towels next to all the windows that open, to soak up the water and dirt that will come in. It seemed the crew worked constantly while they were at my house. If you are thinking of painting your house yourself consider that it is a LOT of work. Lance also stationed a port-a-potty on the sidewalk for the comfort of the crew and to avoid the awkwardness of having crew come into my house. Though to finish painting the windows that opened -- all casement windows -- the crew did need to come inside for half a day. read more

Lance painted my house seven years ago. The old house looks beautiful after that . He matched the paint and gave me good suggestions on the trend of the trimming. We are extremely happy with the exterior of our home. We had no idea it could look this good! After 16 years, it was due for an update. Lance and his crew did an exceptional job. They filled every crack, crevice and hole that needed filling, sealed all of the seams around the windows, doors and eves, and replaced the entire front of the second story, which was damaged by weather and a recent roof replacement. We removed old shutters and were concerned about how the house would look without them, but Lance and his crew made it look great. The areas of stucco they repaired are not at all noticeable, which requires a special talent! They also replaced the side door to our garage, which was a challenge. Because of the age of our house, the new door didn't exactly fit. They took special care to adjust the frame around the door to ensure it fit properly and would open and close easily. His crew was polite, thoughtful and thorough. They were actually pleasant to have around. They didn't miss a thing. They even painted the gas pipes and meters, the small wires and doors to the utilities. They left our property immaculate. You would never have known they were here. We wanted to give our house a fresh look and turned to Lance and his crew to do the work. He has painted many houses in our neighborhood, and even though he doesn't have many Yelp reviews, his reputation is well-established. He came out to our house within a couple days of our first call to him, and together we walked around the house, and he talked through the things that would need to be done for our stucco home. In addition to the paint job, there was additional work that needed to be done on some of the decorative shutters and a water heater closet door that has been slowly falling apart. A couple days later he gave us a quote for the work, which included the repair work and the painting of three rooms. The price he gave us was very reasonable and we gave him the green light to get started. He put us in touch with a paint consultant at a Dunn-Edwards store so that we could make our final color choices, which was a great help. Lance's team was very meticulous about the prep work prior to the actual painting. A few days were spent power washing the exterior and then sanding down all the smooth surfaces, including the downspouts from the gutters. A couple days were needed to do the woodwork, including the replacement of the water heater closet door, which had to be custom-ordered due to its nonstandard size. After that, it was a matter of priming and painting, which proceeded without a hitch. The attention to detail was great, as the gas meter and utility boxes were painted as well. He even re-installed all the hooks under the eaves for our Christmas lights. For the interior, his crew worked quickly and had the walls painted in just a day. We noticed, however, that because of the color we chose for a couple of our rooms, there was some unevenness to the coverage. The next day, they added a third coat of paint which smoothed everything out nicely. So, we're beyond thrilled with our experience with Lance and his hardworking crew. We were so fortunate to find this gem of a painter in Lance Cole of LC Painting. My cousin recommended him as he has painted houses in her neighborhood (San Tomas & Hamilton). But we also found out that he's painted 3 other houses on our street in Sunnyvale! We got some bids from corporate paint company and a sole proprietor owned company, but Lance's company stood out. First he was easy to talk to, a good listener and could make suggestions to make it even better. His price came in the most reasonable compared to the other 2 bids, and he accurately estimated the # of cans of paint. We thought, too good to be true! One of the other bids from the other companies had estimated 2x the amount of paint than Lance did. What I liked about Lance is that he had a crew of always 1-2 other people, plus himself. He finished our exterior and 3 areas inside the house (2 bathrooms and living ceiling) in a shorter time than we had expected! He also brings his own portable potty for the crew. Second, you can tell right away that he has the experience (he worked for the largest painting company in CA decades ago, and now has his own business). He's been painting for 30 years, so he must be doing something right. As we walked through, he could would tell us what would be prepped, what finishes he recommended. He was the only one that talked about our revitalizing our deck (which was greying wood). He could do something which would bring it back to life. Wow, he really brought the deck back to life. It looks like our redwood when we first installed it. He even pointed out an issue with the garage door, which would be a problem down the road. He caulked where there were gaps in the eaves, sanded and smooth wood, patched areas of the stucco that had broken off or cracked with excellent workmanship. They primed and primed more, to use up what we had. They ensured the exterior paint covered everything and it looked nice and thick. He and the team were so fast to paint the exterior, that they started the interior a day earlier. Third, he really bends over backwards to get you what you want. I had given him the wrong color for the living room ceiling. They were painting the interior on the last day in the last 3 hours of their time that day. They were almost done, but I just put a kink in their schedule. My husband and I didn't think we could live with the wrong color. Lance didn't fret, he was cool. So he told Jose to stop, and cut out a square so he could do a color match at Sherman Williams. Lance drove to the store and came back an hour later with 2 cans of paint to match the living room ceiling. It was so perfect. And Jose did a great job at patching the seams that were showing and smoothing out all the bumps on our ceiling. Also, I was obsessing over our dryer exhaust vent which was cracked, and he kept assuring me that he will do his best to fix it. He certainly did. We got a replacement installed and it got painted with the exterior paint. Lance came back the next day to do any touchups that we asked. Fourth, his crew is professional and polite. I provided them some snacks and each one came up to me to thank me. They worked in unfortunate heat, but yet they painted with such detail and quality. Lance is also one to work with the crew. He can delegate tasks to ensure everyone keeps busy and going forward. One of his crew members, Jose, helped with fixing up things outside of painting such as replacing our dryer vent exhaust hood which was cracked due to age and sun; added screens to our foundation vents to cover up a hole; and putting up our new floating house numbers. The crew put all the things away at the end of the day. Thomas and Mario were excellent as well. They both worked efficiently and did nice clean work! I would 100% recommend Lance for your painting needs. He will get it done at a very reasonable and fair price AND with amazing quality. But first and foremost, he was so easy to work with. He's such a great person. You have to be flexible with the dates. He'll put you in a queue for an approximate time. He may call you up and ask if you are ready. Just say "Yes". Get some ideas of paint colors ahead of time is helpful. He can put samples up for you to decide before he starts. We are so pleased with how the house looks. Lance Cole is the owner and manager of the local painting business LC Painting. He and his crew just painted my 40 year old two story stucco house in Sunnyvale. It is just like new. No it is better than new. He and his crew fixed some minor flaws that were part of the original construction. His team was very professional and proficient. Even more impressive was the way that they protected my property. They masked all windows and doors, they took down and reinstalled the outside lights, and they covered all of the sidewalks and driveway with tarps. I was very pleased with the care they took not to injure the adjacent landscaping. Best of all the painted surfaces are beautiful. I could not be more pleased. Their proposal was a little bit higher than some painters that I had used before; but the quality of the final result was well worth it. read more
