There's a huge moose decked in a buffalo plaid vest and hat that you encounter when you walk in. A lot of clothing, from full-zip hoodies, to t-shirts that either have Ottawa or Canada on them, can be found in this store, among other merchandise. Prices are decent. You can get a t-shirt for $10. The quality is pretty good for the price that you pay. You can also get maple syrup, ice wine chocolate, plushies, and more. There's a clearance section at the back of the store. A male staffer was talking to his female counterpart about some person who came into the store and caused a disturbance. He made mention of filing a grievance with the police. He then left the store. i had found a t-shirt that I liked. I went to pay for it. The woman at the counter said that it was cash only. There was a payment machine on the counter. Interesting. I let her know that it was unfortunate that it was strictly cash. I put the article of clothing away and left this store. As a tourist, I don't carry a wad of cash on me. As a Canadian, I don't either. It's such a ridiculous restriction placed on tourists and shoppers who want convenience and don't want to handle cash post-pandemic. This store does not have an ATM to withdraw cash. Instead, you need to walk over to Rideau Street to find a bank, figure out how much money you need to withdraw, and head back to this store to make a purchase. Highly inconvenient. If you are dying to make a purchase here, I recommend arming yourself with cash before dropping by. Otherwise, don't come here thinking that you can use a debit or credit card to make a purchase. Their clothes are hit or miss. In my opinion some pieces are really neat but some pieces are tacky or matronly. They have a clearance section upstairs which is a little messy but you can find some good deals. They had shoes made in Spain, Italy and Brazil (i.e. good quality leather) for like 70% off. The owner is super nice and she may sell you stuff for lower than the tagged price. Frou Frou is a cute little shop. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

I went in to check it out and discovered the wonder that is Quichua International. The store sells only products manufactured by native peoples who live in the Andes area of South America. There are all sorts of colourful ponchos, sweaters, hats (with handy ear muffs), gloves. They also have a GREAT collection of very colourful children's sweaters. The store also sells musical instruments, toys, jewelry, and art. They even sell those cool wrestling masks you saw in the movie Nacho Libre! I have seen some of the same goods at markets around town and I wonder if there is a connection. Anyhow, the prices are moderately high (wool hats for $20). But, the goods are authentic and have traveled all the way here and not all the way from China!! The store is located on a cobblestoned street free of road traffic. So, you will have to walk to it - no parking, senor!

Just looking at all the stuff in the window instantly intrigued me and tempted me in the doors. 3 Trees is a "spiritual" store and is stocked full of crystals, Buddha statues, dream catchers, insense, jewelry, clothing and other spirt conscious items. It is deep back there - goes back quite a ways - and is full of really neat items. They also have those world music/sound effect cds (ocean waves, wind, etc.) and lovely wind chimes. I was relaxed in the store by all the atmosphere created by the merchandise (is there anything more peaceful and soothing to look at than raw wood and river-smoothed stones???). Just imagine how soothed you could be at home or at the office. Please give this store a chance!

It has vintage items but also new items. Their new items are all ethically sourced/fair trade, most are made of organic materials and the designers are Canadian. The owner, Emma, is very sweet and is so passionate about the items she sells. She introduced me to 2 designers that I totally love now: Smoking Lily, and Rabbit & Empee. OMG, why did I not know about these designers earlier? Their pieces are gorgeous! Most of the clothes in the shop are somewhat quirky with a bohemian vibe to them, some with slight steampunk elements, but there are pieces that look more mainstream too. They also have unique jewelry pieces, hair accessories, belts and purses. Prices run the gamut from less than $1 (vintage jewelry) to over $150 (new clothing). New clothing starts at about $35 for T-shirts and goes up to $100+ for dresses. The shop is small and is in an old converted residential unit in the Byward Market. If you are looking for a cool and unusual piece, Adorit is the place to go! ;)

The new clothing is "environmentally friendly" and it's often made out of recycled clothing material with some really great patterns. The clothing is usually made in Tibet (fair trade) or Canada, including some work by local designers. The clothes are usually quite nice and Bohemian-inspired, although the prices run a bit high sometimes. However, they often have a sales rack and trunk with some great pieces, including my favourite coat that probably gets more compliments than any other article of clothing I own. They also have wonderful accessories and Tibet products.The owner is very nice.

I would describe the style at Hot Topic is an unusual mix of Lolita, Goth, Emo and Grunge. They have kawaii items like Hello Kitty and My Melody, but they also have black ripped up fishnet stockings and studded platform boots. They have Nirvana and the Grateful Dead T-shirts. They have Harry Potter and Emily the Strange products. Jack Skellington items from The Nightmare Before Christmas are also plentiful here. I've gotten some Star Wars items here as well as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles T-shirts and lots of Funko Pops. Oh, they have a great selection of Funko Pops. They sell clothes, accessories and collectibles. They have great stuff for Halloween and Cosplay. Staff are really nice and if you sign up for their points system they send you good coupons.
