This place is certainly old and dated but if you want new and modern go to one of the resorts scattered around Lake Geneva. This place is a gem. The folks here are five stars. The grounds surrounding the B&B are five stars. There's so much character here. On the day we were here they served little tiny kitsch for breakfast that were like breakfast candy. The room was fine. Included in the check in was a bottle of cheap wine, chocolate covered strawberry's. They had a couric coffee maker for the morning after drinking the wine. Loved the jacuzzi and the fireplace. It's certainly tucked away from the busy Lake Geneva area and I like that for a change. I'm a fan.

The Lazy Cloud was the perfect place for a girls weekend. We enjoyed sitting in front of the beautiful fireplace, while sipping on wine and laughing for hours. Our rooms each had a microwave, Keurig coffee maker and a mini-fridge (came in handy for our snacks). Other thoughtful items in our rooms was a corkscrew/bottle opener, lighter, bottled waters and most importantly....chocolate covered strawberries!!! Taylor checked us in and made us feel welcome. She gave us a tour of our rooms showing us how to use the fireplace and offered to answer any questions we had. The Lazy Cloud offered a buffet breakfast the following morning which included a wide variety of juices, cereals, oatmeal, yogurts, homemade granola, sausage, hash browns, and all the fixings for breakfast burritos!! The buffet had a Belgium waffle maker and fresh fruit to boot. But the showstopper had to be the homemade, gooey, cinnamon rolls!! The cinnamon rolls alone are reason to book your room(s) now. In conclusion, the Lazy Cloud offers the perfect place in an idyllic setting. The staff and owners are friendly and personable. Looking forward to reserving some time there in the spring or summer months to experience the English gardens.

Unbelievable experience, I will go as far to say best B&B I've ever stayed in!! Each suite with it's own design, it's very hard to choose. Now obviously these rooms are geared towards woman, but guys... really, think about how romantic you look by booking one of these. A fireplace, candles, music, some champagne, a bubble bath, and the best part is that they set it all up for you. Everything you need to get a little chica chica bon bon, e rrr e rrr, hubba hubba, a game I like to call hide the pickle, if you know what I'm saying. Really you don't even need to leave the room. A microwave and a min frig with popcorn, hot chocolate, cappuccino, and chocolates all in the room already. Plus they make breakfast in the morning and I bet they will bring it up to you if you call. Some rooms even have a TV and VCR (yeah I know VCR, they are old school). Prices are high but it's all worth it. Check it out, it's Nick approved.

My husband and I stayed in the Blue Moon suite. I've never stayed at a bed and breakfast before so I wasn't sure what to expect. It was nice. The front desk lady took us to our room and showed us how everything worked - the jacuzzi, fireplace, what was complimentary in the fridge and what we'd pay for if we wanted and so on. It was a nice personal touch. The room was a good size and we enjoyed ourselves. My advice is to bring your snacks/drinks. There's no vending machines like in a hotel. They do offer muffins for breakfast, which are already in your fridge. We went out to breakfast and brought our muffins home. There is wifi but it was spotty with my phone. However my laptop had a great signal. My phone didn't have service but my husbands work phone did so that probably depends on your carrier (if you have AT&T you're good). The inn is a little bit away from downtown Lake Geneva. Which was fine by us but if you want to be in the heart of the town, this is not the place for you. It has a very secluded feel even when there's other people staying there. We only saw once other couple and that was at check inn. Hopefully we will make our way back there one day!

This is as good as it gets. Very Romantic getaway located in a secluded area extremely quiet. The hospitality and service of the staff is off the charts they cater to every need. The room was fantastic the bed was was very nice. The whirlpool was very relaxing and very great to come out and have a fireplace. A wonderful place to connect with a loved one and experience a romantic special weekend that you will never forget.

This place is fantastic! There are fireplaces and whirlpools in very room. The staff is super nice and the breakfast was great. It is a really nice romantic get away. I suggest ordering the enchanted evening package. For an extra $40 you get champagne and this apple pie, which is the best pie you will every eat. They also lend you this silly relationship game, but it's worth it for the pie.

We've stayed here three times. Infact we had our wedding there in 2011. Very romantic place to stay. Staff is wonderful. The little extras are great, like the champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. The sticky buns are to die for. Each room has a hot tub for 2 and a fireplace.

The Abbey Resort - Harbor View King room

I had an outstanding experience at The Abbey thanks to Illeyana--also known (and now forever…read moreremembered) as Ms. Goldfish. From the moment we walked in, her energy, attentiveness, and genuine friendliness set the tone for the entire visit. She was on top of everything--quick service, great recommendations, and always checking in without being overbearing. It's rare to find someone who makes you feel both taken care of and completely relaxed at the same time, but Illeyana nailed it. The nickname "Ms. Goldfish" fits perfectly--she kept things fun, memorable, and just a little bit legendary. If you're heading to The Abbey, do yourself a favor and ask for her. Customer service like that is hard to come by. We'll definitely be back!

This resort has taken a significant downturn within the last 10 years. It truly is work to stay…read morehere. The best part of the trip was the time we spent outside of the hotel. From the moment we got here we were inconvenienced. 1. We checked into our room and there was no hand soap, tissues, or conditioner. 2. There are only a few entrances to the resort instead of having an entrance to each building to make it easy to bring stuff to and from your car. 3. The gift shop is crazy expensive, bottled water is almost $4 a piece and a case of beer is $80. 4. The TVs in the room are completely locked down and you're unable to screencast Netflix. Your choices are 30 basic channels of infomercials and $25 movie selections that are mostly from the 90s. 5. The room service for food ends at 10pm and the vending machines were bare, there is no where to go for a late night snack. 6. If you go to the restaurant to order food to go, they won't do it. They'll refer you to calm room service for your room forcing you to leave a tip. 7. If you want a cart to bring your luggage to your car, a bellhop has to supervise you and watch you do it the whole way. 8. On our last day the boiler was down and there was no hot water to take a shower before you check out. 9. We asked for a plate at the front desk to warm up food in the microwave (only one shared microwave is available for each building), and they couldn't find any. In short, this place is like a glorified motel 8 that doesn't truly respect their customers. Their operations are only convenient for them and nothing about the stay was easy. We almost felt like we were in a prison. I did enjoy the stay 10 years ago but we were very disappointed by how it is currently ran.

We drove up and the propriatress was chatting with neighbors. She greeted us and when we asked if it was OK to take photos of the outside. . . she have us a tour of the inside! Wow, that was unexpected! Super warm and friendly owner, the Inn has many of it's original features including wood floors, lighting fixtures, coal burning fireplaces, stained glass, and more. It also boasts a beautiful new kitchen and glorious gardens including milk weed for the Monarch Butterflies which have been rapidly decreasing in numbers in recent years. So yay! She has a small shop of movie themed items and a museum cabinate of movie props. We were told about the filming pricess at the inn and told about plans for the gardens. Lori and George, the Innkeepers are very nice. The Inn is so fun. This is where Bill Murray's character in the movie stayed and the front looks exactly as it did in the movie. Lori gave us a map of the spots in town with marker's of sites from the movie, so we did that for a half day. The inn has a dining room where breakfast is served, there is the parlor with chairs for reading, or a sofa for watch Groundhog Day on the big screen. There is a small breakfast room with a refrigerator, coffee maker and snacks for the guests. There is one guest room downstairs and the others are located on the second floor. They even have a small gift shop area, where Mr. Bee bought a replica clock from the movie, it is permanently set to 6:00 am and the button on the top plays a portion of the radio show it played in the movie. We stayed in the Black Walnut Suite and it was extremely clean, and comfortable with 3 large windows that looked out over the front yard and the street just like in the film. Breakfast was good and plentiful. One morning we were the only guests so I told Lori the night before to take a day off and we would enjoy breakfast in the town square. I can't say enough great things about our stay. The front porch is awesome and fun to sit in the evenings with a glass of wine. The gardens and koi pond around the house are also stunning and beautifully lit in the evenings. There is parking off to the side of the driveway which is really convenient, or street parking. You can also easily walk into the town square from the Inn. We highly recommend checking out The Cherry Tree Inn for a fun weekend or even mid-week stay.
