When I travel, I generally look for B&Bs because I have done corporate america hotels. I have had many, great expwriences with B&Bs, and Air B&Bs. Many of the corporate hotels are overpriced with horrible/terrible food options (complimentory breakfast? It's worked into that final bill). B&Bs have a niche in persoanlization and care, equating to better food to eat, very competative pricing, and increased safety. Tina and Dean made this stay wonderful!!!!! There were both very attentive and respectful for privacy and timing. The reasons I stayed at this Inn were its location, close to Genoa City and by the lake (little did I know, but you can ask for kayaks or canoe options to use the lake). Though I did not use the lake nor its trails, I know these are options for my next summer getaway. Second, the price and dates were competitive and open. I was pleasantly surprised with two day's worth of steak and eggs for breakfast! Again, because it was not a hotel- Genoa City has "sad" options- it was super quiet and peaceful. The knowledge that I won't be woken by cleaning crews, screaming kids, nor immature adults slamming doors made my stay even better and HIGHER quality. And that is truly what the Inn at Lake Elizabeth and Tina and Dean offer: Quality. I highly recommend you pass up on a hotel and direct yourself to experience that which many are missing: quality.

You also won't get a better start to your day than Dean's savory breakfast skillet and Tina's scones, ideally while sitting on the front porch and gazing at Lake Elizabeth. Their place is super easy to find, though in a peaceful area, with access to a lot of great local food and shopping. We are already planning our next visit!

On Sat & Sun mornings we walked up to the Inn to enjoy breakfast with the Inn's guests, and take in all of the "Groundhog Day" movie memorabilia. The full breakfasts provided by George and Rey (Rey is also the gardener, and she has created some truly lovely spaces around the Inn: lovely flowers, 2 koi ponds, scattered seating areas) were absolutely delicious with all kinds of breakfast items like pancakes, quiche, bacon, eggs, biscuits and gravy, potato waffles, fresh berries, melon, strawberries, yogurt, granola, bread pudding and more. The guesthouse and the Inn are walking distance to the Woodstock Square and we enjoyed the farmer's market & brick and mortar stores for some retail therapy. Live music on the square on Friday night, too. We had a great girls' weekend!

We drove up and the propriatress was chatting with neighbors. She greeted us and when we asked if it was OK to take photos of the outside. . . she have us a tour of the inside! Wow, that was unexpected! Super warm and friendly owner, the Inn has many of it's original features including wood floors, lighting fixtures, coal burning fireplaces, stained glass, and more. It also boasts a beautiful new kitchen and glorious gardens including milk weed for the Monarch Butterflies which have been rapidly decreasing in numbers in recent years. So yay! She has a small shop of movie themed items and a museum cabinate of movie props. We were told about the filming pricess at the inn and told about plans for the gardens. A lovely Bed and Breakfast, if you find yourself in Woodstock, IL, check on availability. Stay where Phil Conners 'stayed'.

But the food and wine here is so abysmal, I don't know how they found the audacity to serve what they do for as expensive as it is. I went here with my husband and brother in law for dinner, looking forward to a good steak and wine. We ordered a $50 bottle of a white wine, the server brought it out, and it was a twist off bottle...never seen that before at a restaurant but we gave it a try. Looked it up, $9.98 from Walgreens, and it had weird grainy chunks resting at the bottom, that we accidentally drank when we poured the rest out. The server tried to explain it off as rind, but this was grainy and salty?? The server did make it right and comped the bottle, but we were shocked they put such a cheap bottle on the menu... they tried to give us a new french wine that was $98 on the menu, but it was also twist off?? Now for the food. We ordered the $10 artisanal ciabatta with European butter, word for word what was stated on the menu. What we got was a Walmart off the shelf quality of bread, and not kidding, Sysco butter packets! We ate the bread and dealt with the wine situation, and almost walked out, but held out hoping the bread and wine were just flukes, and the entrees would make up for it. The steak wasn't even up to par with Texas road house steaks. I was heartbroken. Everything was over salted and cold, and took an hour to come out! How do they have the audacity to charge $65 for a steak and have such poor quality of food! Lake Geneva has so much great food options, don't waste your money coming here. The servers were so nice and accommodating to make up for such terrible quality of food and drinks, and the only reason I gave this two stars.
