We had a wonderful evening and breakfast at the TC Smith historic Inn. These days, classic B&B's are harder and harder to find. This one is the real deal! We had a lovely private bedroom, and a spacious private bath complete with whirlpool tub and shower. The owner, Maureen, is a real sweetheart! She knew that it was my wife's birthday, so she had fresh cut flowers and balloons in our room. That was a nice touch and very unexpected! We were her only guests that evening, so we had Maureen all to ourselves the following morning at breakfast. Breakfast was wonderful, with homemade pastries and multiple courses. I agree with another reviewer - Maureen knows the true meaning of "Hospitality". What a treat! Did I mention she is a sweetheart? I've read some other negative reviews about issues with dogs, clutter, etc... We experienced NONE of that. If you're looking for a "modern" or "contemporary" stay, book an airbnb. The B&B is well appointed in charm and decoration....Randy, Tammy, and Debbie, took our experiences to the next level. Breakfast was on point both mornings....the guys in the group didn't get to enjoy much of the bfast on Saturday morning due to us running late for our tee times for golf, but what we did taste of the Quiche and those amazing Peaches, I would ask Randy to serve again on our next visit..... with a side of Rumchatta French toast. We checked in around 3:30 in the afternoon and met our host and hostess who were very nice and gave us a brief tour of the second floor rooms before we got settled. We stayed in the Egyptian room, which has a small bathroom (sink and toilet) as well as an in-room jacuzzi and a small sitting area. Since it was cold during our stay, we didn't use our balcony, but did use the small heater which they keep in the room to help warm up the room. The bed was comfortable, and in the morning the breakfast was very good--Trader Joe's yogurt, pastries, fresh pineapple, orange juice, tea, coffee, eggs, and sausage--served at a cozy table in a breakfast nook accompanied by pleasant conversation with our host and hostess. Considerations: * Watch yourself if there has been snow recently when you visit in winter. The parking area was a bit slippery, and since it isn't perfectly level, you can slide if you aren't careful. * If you have cat allergies, understand that they do have some friendly indoor cats. (My husband is allergic, but our room was extremely clean and he had almost no problem while at the castle.) * If you're a light sleeper, bring earplugs. My husband could hear the cats prowling, pouncing, and meowing above us at night, making it difficult for him to sleep soundly. (I had earplugs, so I slept through any sounds entirely.) * There is no Wi-Fi, and there are no TV in the rooms, although there is one available in a common area. Overall impression was good and we were glad we stayed there this year. If you like solitude and quiet, it's a great choice for a unique country getaway for a night or two.

The hosts were also very knowledgeable about local landmarks and things to do (and I really enjoyed visiting an observatory nearby that was just gorgeous and doing some shopping downtown -- was there for work so not much free time). The room is quaint, nicely furnished for the antique look, and has a very comfortable bed. (The Sunshine Room.) I would go back there in a heartbeat next time I am in Lake Geneva.

Sue cooks and Bob plays waiter/busboy. Very, very tasty...Sue is a fantastic cook! Our only complaint was that the sheets weren't super soft and the towels might be the ones they bought when they opened the place 19 years ago...pretty scratchy and dingy. They could use some new ones. But otherwise we enjoyed our stay here. Sadly Bob and Sue told us they might stop running the place in the next year or so and hand things over to their son. Hopefully he will run things as well as they do!

It's from the 1800s and it's in amazing condition considering that age. If you don't want all that goes with staying in a cool historical building, get a room at the Hilton and call it a day. Okay, rant over. Now the good stuff. We stayed in the veranda suite for a long weekend and it was WONDERFUL. The room is lined almost entirely in bookcases with cool old books to be perused and enjoyed. Upon check-in the man who greeted us and provided our key was the sweetest of guys and the rest of the weekend we were left in peace. No intrusive keepers here! We were greeted by a small basket of fresh local apples when we arrived and while it's a small gesture, it was well appreciated (there was a rosy apple with pink flesh in the mix that I'm newly obsessed with). There was a coffee/tea station outside our room, wine glasses to be used at our leisure, silverware, fridges in the room and outside of it for our restaurant leftovers, and a wet bar in the room itself. Amenities were few but thoughtful. And honestly I appreciated not having a ton of unnecessary bells and whistles. Ultimate highlight besides the cool library vibe: THE VIEW. the room comes with its own private porch with table, chairs, and porch swing where you can look right out onto Lake Geneva. No buildings stand in the way. You're right there on the lake. Very romantic with a bottle of wine and the fall rain we had while visiting. Definitely a deal maker. Location! We were walking distance to everything good. You're mere steps away from the harbor, restaurants, and the downtown. We walked everywhere with ease. The keepers of the villa offer free parking, as well. No parking hassles at all!! The only things i didn't *love* about the place were the size of our shower (way too small, I bumped my elbows constantly) and there is a moderate amount of noise from people walking upstairs from you (old house floorboards, after all). That being said, what you get with the Inn far outweighs those minor inconveniences. I'd definitely stay here again.

Both items did not come out at the same time because they accidentally put blue cheese on the first chicken sandwich. However, I've been many times before and the service is usually great, and I appreciate the server catching it before it got to our table. My favorite of the two was the burger, they even add fresh dill to it that works SO well. Really a great place to grab food in Lake Como!
