A little hidden gem. If I was ever needing a coffee shop to work in I would choose this one. It's quiet and very spacious

I lament that Bubbe's Bagels is so far away in Traverse City. The Bagel Spot has filled the bagel…read morevoid. A good bagel does not need to be toasted, and these are good bagels. They also make their smear (cream cheese) in house and slice their own lox (smoked salmon). The salmon was particularly impressive, it just melts. Their bagels are on the pricier side, but they are large, fresh, and delicious. I've tried my classic order (sesame, scallion smear, lox) and one of their bagel sandwiches (eggs, bacon, tomato, cheese), which are very hearty. They have breakfast and lunch options. They were out of the chicken salad when I stopped in, their egg salad was very good though. The were hustling on a Sunday afternoon, a really hard working staff here, but the staff who helped me remained friendly. I'm excited to try some of their more creative options.

Their bagels are huge, but fluffy at the same time so I was able to finish it. My husband enjoyed his sandwich too, he said it was even better that Jersey bagels sandwiches, and they're also known for huge bagels. I agree, these were very soft yet chewy at the same time, I really loved them. Not cheap unfortunately, a breakfast sandwich is $10 which isn't low. My guess it's probably the size of the sandwich that makes them more expensive than average. Besides sandwiches that offer breakfast plates, and home made muffins which looked very good, but we didn't get any. They have tables and booths in case you want to enjoy the food at the shop. Despite being very busy, it was clean and the staff was friendly. Being one of the tastiest bagels in the area, for sure I'll be back.

The man working here was pleasant and eager to serve. He told me he had been here for many years and I will enjoy the bagels and apologized for cash only. I am not sure why he does not accept credit but luckily I had enough to pay. The other customer agreed the bagels were good. It is a very small shop that does not carry much else, there were the bagels in bins and a list of cream cheese flavors. Everything was moderately priced and I did want to try their lox but it was the priciest sandwich so I went with a dozen bagels and a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich. The man microwaved the toppings and added it to the bagel but did not cut the sandwich in two. I was a bit suspicious of the cooking method but the sandwich was fairly decent, but pretty thin. The bagels themselves were pretty tasty. They had the nice shine on the outside and chewy on the inside. I have not had enough bagels in New York to actually compare but very comparable to the ones you might get at the smaller West Bloomfield shops. But the bagels themselves are tiny. Shockingly small. Really you could eat two to be the equivalent of one bagel from yesteryear. I paid $11.50 for a dozen, so not bad, especially since one is listed as $1.25. Would I go back? Probably. I did enjoy the taste, texture, and style of the bagel. Might I try a different location? Yes. There is one in Commerce that appears to be bigger and offer a larger selection. I am not sure if they are related, same company, same recipe...a franchise? They are not listed together online but have the same menu. The prices online are slightly different in Commerce and I am not sure if they take credit cards over there. But the ones here did taste fresh.

These are REAL bagels. There is nothing fancy about the store and they don't take credit…read morecards.,.but REAL bagels are hard to find

There were at least six people "working"--standing around talking loudly with the radio blasting, mainly--and even though I was just getting a single bagel with cream cheese it took forever. And no one else was even in the store. At a certain point, the manager/owner called over to me and said "we're having trouble with the toaster." I had been super clear that I wanted it "not toasted." Then because he could tell I was irritated and it had been, well, forever, he started scolding the workers about talking too much, the music being too loud, etc., to no avail. They just kept going. And when the time came to finally hand me my bagel, there was no apology, "I'm sorry," or any acknowledgement at all that it had been a really inappropriately long time that I had been waiting--again, with no one else in the store. And six employees working. The sad thing is that the bagels at this place are pretty good, about the best you are going to get in metro Detroit, but I won't be back. Management needs to step up in this place and enact a more professional approach to customer service.
