Stopped into layaly cafe on a Saturday afternoon and had a great experience. All the staff was friendly and welcoming and the space was comfortable. A decent crowd at 4pm which is a good sign! Enjoyed a hookah with some Moroccan tea. Hookah was great! Will definitely be back !!! read more

I'm a regular here, and after being closed for six weeks, the renovation was absolutely worth the wait! The place looks brand new and stunning--everything from the decor to the vibe feels elevated. The hookah is always smooth, the food is delicious, and the service is consistently great. Definitely my favorite lounge! We are a family here! read more

An amazing no frills hookah spot in Astoria! We stumbled upon this place after not having a great experience in another new spot in the area. So glad we found this spot because this was one of the best hookah spots my friends and I tried after so long! The ambience was super chill and the staff and owners were all friendly and welcoming. We ordered a Sex on the Beach flavored hookah and large Moroccan mint tea. The tea was delicious and also came in a beautiful tea set. The prices were also very reasonable along with great service. It was a great end to our night out in Astoria. My friends and I will definitely be coming back here for more tea and hookah! read more

Ok. This is the hidden gem no one should know about but everyone should know about. I'm the kind of gal that used to study in college at hookah bars. I've had hookah all over and this is truly such a good deal. $21 for a sex on the beach + $5 ice hose. Packed perfectly. If I didn't already have dinner I would have eaten here. The Frappuccino's looked fantastic but we snacked on Mac and cheese and lemon orzo soup and Moroccan tea. If you want chill backyard vibes with unparalleled authenticity while being able to have a lovely evening discussion... come. Quickly. read more

This has been my go-to hookah& chill spot for years. Layaly is a local cafe that is homey and simple. It's not lively or a party scene if that's what you're looking for in a night out. There's lots of seating from the front to their back garden. Simplistic design and often played Arabic music sets the hookah mood. The menu has food and non-alcoholic drinks. I swoon over the strawberry milkshake every time (Diabetics, please be aware of your sugar intake with milkshakes though!). Plenty of hookah flavors and options at average costs (many other places charge $40+ a pipe). Staff members are regular folks. Not attentive but not distracted. It feels like everyone (from clients to staff) are just hanging out at home. Love it! read more

I absolutely love Layaly Cafe!!! My sister and I have been here several times already. The food is good. I almost always go for the shrimp tacos and truffle fries. The smoothies are delicious. The highlight is definitely the hookah! They offer different flavors which you can mix, and their hookahs LAST!!!! That's a plus for me. The staff is very friendly and attentive as well. Take a seat in the outdoor seating area in their backyard this summer and enjoy yourself. You will not be disappointed. read more

The service here is phenomenal... Was greeted at the door with mask and hand sanitizer. We got to choose our seats either inside outside or the back. I was even able to select the music is like to listen to. I first ordered mango ginger smoothie which was soooo tasty I'd definitely come back for this alone. Lol then I had guacamole and chips which tasted so good. The service was fast and yet so tasty. I can in to work remotely and get some good food and I got great vibes. Will definitely come back. read more

Finally found a chill hookah spot in NY that's fairly priced, has a nice ambiance, with chill people and friendly staff, and with GOOD food!

A fun hookah lounge with very tasty food. This place has so many different hookah flavors! We got the mint which was really good, as we didn't want something too sweet. Will definitely be back! read more

Came here on a late Saturday afternoon as a group of 10. It was pretty quiet inside and we were kindly seated right away. Our waitress initially came over to take our drink orders and if anyone was going to order hookahs. We ordered 4 lemon/mint fumari hookahs for the table, 2 frappachinos blended coffee drinks as well as a few pots of black tea with mint. The hookahs came out first. We were given plastic hoses with I prefer in terms of cleanliness. The hookah was nice and strong and had a great lemon taste. The frappachinos looked delicious as they were topped with fresh whipped cream. Service was great, one of my favorite things about this place was there was no rush. Our waitress was super accommodating to us, and let us enjoy a few hours and even refilled our tea pots 2 times! Will come back again for a hookah session or even to try their lunch menu! Price overall is very decent for good hookah and service! FYI: Street parking only which can be difficult during peak hours read more

Very nice and relaxing hookah place with a very friendly staff too. This is a newer place and is very clean and modern. I came here with some friends and we tried the Blue Mist and Pirates Cove flavors. The Blue Mist had a fruit punch taste to it, while the Pirates Cove had a more smokey, cinnamon taste to it. It is only $8 to $10 for a hookah - much cheaper than in Manhattan. And the hookah here lasts for a very long time. The food here was also very good. I had a mixed platter with lamb chops, sausage, and chicken kebab. All three of these were fresh, moist and tasty. The best of the three were the lamb chops, which were very juicy and had a nice charred grill flavor to them. I recommend getting your entrees with their delicious rice too, which appeared to have been sauteed in butter. read more

My friend who's a big hookah fan and likes low-key spots introduced me to this place. Imagine a mix between a board games hangout spot, a quieter sports bar, an unpretentious diner, and Starbucks (because of the number of people with laptops! #unexpected) with loungy aesthetic of a traditional hookah bar and all of your favorite old-school R&B jams. Heaven, or Layaly Cafe? If you live in Astoria and are looking for your next chill weekday or weekend afternoon excursion with friends, this is the place for you. read more

Went there on 3/19/2022 on a Saturday evening place doesn't have reservations, so we were lucky to grab a decent table. Ordered the mango with pineapple fruit top and a ice hose. quality hookah and they constantly go around changing your coals. In case you're not aware the don't serve ALCOHOL so if you want drinks stop at a bar before you come here. They had the Knicks game on and you can play games like cards and Uno at your table, overall a cool experience. I think the total was around $50 no forced gratuity nice spot will come back sometime during the summer (sorry forgot to take pics) read more

Weak. We came here for a great hookah experience and unfortunately did not receive that. I didn't have any food here, as we had dinner plans afterwards. We also had no desire to pay $5 for a cup of coffee. We only did hookah here. We ended up doing two flavors but both were bland. The blue mist was so bad that it burnt our throats and we left early because of it, despite having quite a bit left. The hookah game here is weak. I've had much smoother, better hookah experiences elsewhere. Also, the huge TVs really do not make this place "chill" because try sitting next to a bright TV for a couple hours. Not pleasant. Not a fan and will not return. read more

This unseeming place is located on Broadway, far enough away from the crazy hookah lounges located on Steinway. Although they sell hookah and it is the focus of their restaurant they have an extensive menu that is delicious. They have a mix of Arabic American food. I had their appetizer: mozzarella sticks. They were not only cheesy but crunchy... not oily. My friend and I also ordered their falafel which came with hummus and baba ganoush. Although the falafel is a pre-made mix it is well flavored and crunchy. The side salads are perfect consistency. We even dared to try the hookah. My mouth enjoyed the flavor but my lungs needed a break. I will definitely keep returning to this spot. read more

A+ My wife and I visited NYC excited about all the hookah lounge options around. We were generally disappointed until we visited Layaly Cafe. Very fun, friendly and chill vibe. Everyone seems to know one another and everyone from the customers to staff was response friendly. The place seemed clean and taken care of and the hookah was the best flavor I've ever tasted. It was like smoking a banana milkshake. The owner of Layaly Cafe, Mo, stopped by to chat with us. You can tell he is really into his craft and he is detail oriented. He runs things his way and I much prefer his style as opposed to other not so desirable hookah spots we have visited in the area. Our hotel was far, we lost track of time, and we almost got stuck taking long subway trains back. Mo and Ahmed (Manager) stepped in and offered us a ride home. Really great cafe and the guys running it are even better. Highly recommend. read more

Currently sitting in this lounge as I write this review. I got the Blue mist hookah and it's the worst Blue mist I've ever had. The hookah used to be great here, but I guess a lot has changed since my last visit. The hookah is absolutely flavorless and doesn't even pull too well. Another thing that disappointed me was the customer service. I asked the server what their policy was if I wasn't pleased with the hookah, and he basically said I would have to purchase a head change ($7). Every other hookah lounge on this planet will change your hookah if you're not pleased, but not this one. Lastly, they added a 20% tip to the bill, and when we questioned as to why isn't 15% the explanation just made me want to leave without saying a word. They basically said they charge $15 per head for those who do not order hookah. So they were doing us a "favor" by charging us a higher gratuity instead of the extra $15 per head. It was just my boyfriend and I, so we ordered one hookah, and most lounges require two people to get one hookah! Not every person should be required to get their own hookah. Absolute bulls**t. Don't recommend it at all. Take yourself a few blocks down to steinway and go to Jasmin or Ignited. read more

I went to Layaly Cafe with 3 friends visiting from out of town. We were looking for a hookah place and decided to try Layaly since I live close by. Food was amazing! Rarely find hookah spots with such high reviews on Yelp, but now I understand why. This place is awesome. I came amongst a group of 15 for a birthday celebration. The staff was quick and attentive, the food was spectacular, and the place is really well-decorated. Several TV's, would probably be a great spot to watch a game as well. I honestly didn't even try the hookah--I was blown away by the food. Highly recommend the Kofta Kebab platter, the nachos, and the wings. I usually am hesitant to order non-middle eastern food at a hookah spot but this place does it really, really well. My friends really enjoyed the hookah so I'm sure that's great too. The restaurant even brought out my friends birthday cake with a giant sparkler and started playing happy birthday on the speakers. Really great. And the place is certainly good value. Today was my first and last day coming to this lounge. The good reviews on here for this business are absolutely shocking to me. Whenever I go to a new lounge I try the Blue Mist flavor because that is not a flavor that can be messed up unless its a horrible lounge. Well considering the Blue Mist was horrible, I'm going to say this lounge is horrible. They also have a very limited hookah menu. Another reason I am giving them 1 star is because of the 20% gratuity they add to your bill which is just ridiculous. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time and money at this lounge. Below I'm going to list some lounges you can get your moneys worth. - Xhale (Forest Hills) - Ignited Lounge (Steinway) - Jasmin (Steinway) - Cafe Istanbul (Steinway) read more

Tuesday afternoon, looking for a hookah joint that was open and took credit cards. Settled on this spot given the good reviews and preferable location. Not much going on inside, but the windows were open to let the nice weather in and a few TVs playing a soccer match. Looking through the menu, decided on the Guava-flavor Hookah ($12) and a Mango Smoothie ($7). Hookah is relatively smooth, a solid amount of coals though just a hint of guava flavor. Mango smoothie is thick; actually felt they used real mangoes to make it (for the price, was hoping so). Coals are refilled intermittently without burning the flavor. Was going to give four stars but had to take one off for the auto 20% gratuity. For one person, not sure why they felt the need to do that (I also made the minimum charge for a credit card). read more

Friendly staff, cheap affordable yummy hookahs with tasty combos of shisha BUT something's missing...oh yeah! My "disposable" hose I found had a piece of tape on it...and looking down the pipe I saw some corrosion which led me to believe that it was not in fact new! They do advertise having new hoses for each hookah. No worries, everyone is given an individual tip for their hose! Choosing an orange fruit head and natural coals I was sent for a loop by achieving quite the buzz, and balanced myself out with a "sampler" of hummus, labneh, and grape leaves. They were definitely worth $5 for 3 choices in NYC, but my grape leaves were served cold (Any other time I've ordered them they were warm, which I prefer). One soda, the sampler, and a fresh fruit head hookah WITH 18% gratuity already added was only $26 total. This is the price of one plain, nothing special hookah in CT. If you can handle loud music, I would say go because its worth the bargain price! read more

Had the Philly steak and falafel and everything was delicious. However, I read many reviews about the welcoming, friendly service and unfortunately that wasn't our experience. $15 minimum per person, which means you'll probably be ordering drinks and food if you're not here by yourself. I was a little concerned, given that I had actual dinner plans after coming here for hookah, but I shouldn't have been. The food is worth getting! The falafel appetizer comes with baba ganoush and hummus, and the falafel is shaped into pucks (not unlike hookah coals!). The baba ganoush tastes extra eggplant-y and garlicky, and I was really pleasantly surprised. A friend ordered the fries (could have been fried a little longer, but that's my own preference), and another got the hummus. We also got pita with our orders. They use plastic disposable hoses which means you don't breathe in the gunk left behind from the last person who smoked from that hose. We ordered melon, and the quality of the flavor, paired with the lightness of a clean hose, brought me back to 12 years ago, the first time I smoked hookah from disposable plastic hoses in Cairo. Sigh. What a great time. I'll be back soon! read more
