This left me without my medication and truly inconvenience and hurt me. I would not advise you see Dr. Zittel because do not know what type of service you will get. I hope you take my warning.

My valuation is based on 3 years experience with Dr. Zittel's office. I enjoyed Dr. Zittel, as well…read moreas her medical staff, and I agree with Dr. Zittel on her medical views. However I feel that the level of consideration for patients on the office side I feel was significantly unprofessional. The Office Manager lost his cool, raised his voice and used profane language towards me on a phone call when I asked him for an exception to a $50 missed appointment fee for a primary physical that was scheduled with a Physician's Assistant (not Dr. Zittel). I expressed to the office manager that I am very good with keeping my appointments and would have anticipated a notification from the office when the appointment was coming up. He told me that his office "did notify me in some form or another", but he did not specify how I was notified. I did not receive a phone call or a text message as is pretty standard in healthcare these days. It's still not clear to me how they felt that I had been notified prior to my appointment. The office manager would not back down on the fee, but did decide to reduce my fee to $25. I told him that I am unhappy with any fees being incurred b/c 1) I did not miss an appointment with a doctor which is who I should be seeing when I pay a co-pay, and my doctor collects money from my insurance company, as if I have seen a physician; and 2) I did not receive a notification or an opportunity to confirm my appointment, and that on the date of my appointment (which I missed) I called the office, and that no one even bothered to reschedule an appointment with me at that time which seemed odd. I received a quick goodbye from the secretary almost as if the office was excited to bill me their hidden $50 fee. I then expressed to him that his behavior was very angry and that he was elevating his tone withe me and that I did not feel comfortable have profane language in a call with my primary care physician, and that he has me strongly considering leaving Dr. Zittel's practice. He then replied, I was free to leave and that he did not care what I did. Naturally, I ended our not so enjoyable conversation. What patient wants to hear from their primary physician's staff that they do not care about their patient? I went over to the office to speak with the office staff directly and to acknowledge the inappropriate behavior I received over the phone. I asked if I signed anything that would acknowledge my understanding that missing an appointment would incur a $50 fee. I was told that I didn't sign anything, but that this was standard practice in all practice. I can say that I've never encountered a fee at another physician's office. However, while I acknowledge that fees may happen elsewhere - say at a specialist's office where the doctor has a long wait to be seen, I told the office staff that it was unprofessional to not acknowledge in some manner in person, or over the phone that fees are incurred for missed appointments. Instead, I received a cold billing notice in the mail, and that this was eye opening for me that this was how their business was being run. I told the secretary that I was in the office just a few weeks before, and no one bothered to collect the $50 fee at that time while I was there in person for a physical, they said I was free to go. While I stood in the office, the secretary told me that the $50 fee is incurred for all appointments that are cancelled up to 24 hrs in advance of an appointment date. I'm sorry - and I expressed my dissatisfaction to the secretary - but this is nuts. I am not one to cancel my appointments, but I may need to reschedule every once in a great while, and I certainly don't want to pay $50 for doing so. I expressed that a small town physicians office should have a little more consideration and understanding when dealing with suburban neighborhood clientele, and after living in major US cities for 15 years, I can say I have never been treated with such a lack in courtesy and disrespect. Lastly, I paid the reduced fee of $25 before I left the office. I certainly hope that these missed and cancelled appointment fees do go towards modernizing some of the office equipment within the exam rooms. The decor is old, and in some cases tattered and dusty. I will be taking my business elsewhere.

This is a terrific practice that we've used for over 14 years. All of the doctors, PAs, nurses, and…read morestaff are dedicated and really care about the kids. And all of our exams have been very thorough. Plus, the appointments are scheduled so well that we never wait more than 5 minutes to be seen. I was disappointed to see the negative rating here. It was a good reminder for me not to rely on the number of stars a business has, but to take the time to read the reviews. For instance, it's unfortunate that this practice should be penalized for protecting their staff and patients from a hypersensitive parent who forgot to wear their face mask properly. (Btw -- Same person gave our beloved local Kone King one star also because he was not wearing a mask. Maybe it's you.)

East Aurora Pediatrics is the example of how pediatricians should be. Dr. Barker calls us…read morepersonally to see how the kids are doing after we've had a major illness or allergic reaction. I will never forget when my oldest child was 2 weeks old and we had to bring him in for a rash. As we were walking out, Dr. Siegel (who has since retired), walked out to the elevator to tell us one additional suggestion he thought of. We remarked about how nice it was that he came out to the elevator to add that. A few minutes later as my husband and I were getting the baby in the car, Dr. Siegel came running out of the building. He came out to tell us that we could skip our previously scheduled appointment that was in a few days, since we had to come in today for the rash. He didn't need to do that. He could have let us show up to the appointment anyway or he could have had the receptionist call us. He went out of his way. All of our kids regularly see Ellen, the NP. She is amazing. Her temperament and demeanor make even the most anxious kids feel comfortable. She has helped me as a young mom with so many stages of parenting and I am grateful for the personal care that this whole office provides. She is a household name for my kids, who see her as a trusted source who cares for them when they need it. Finally, with young kids, there is never a dull moment. I can't tell you how many times I have called and they've taken me in 5-10 minutes, or how often they've rearranged appointments, stayed late or walked me through an issue over the phone. They are truly exceptional. Thank you, EA Pediatrics!
