To be completely honest, going to a mechanic as a female can be quite intimidating. Mechanics have a long standing history of taking advantage of women "who don't know any better" and before we know it, there are a bunch of extra fees for repairs we don't actually need. But that is not the case at TipTop Auto Repair. It feels good to finally have a mechanic who is not only knowledgeable, honest, and does thorough work, but also displays the upmost respect and professionalism when interacting with his customers. This second time was during the Covid pandemic, with reduced hours I was told my vehicle wouldn't be ready before Monday after having it towed to them 11am Friday. Instead it was diagnosed, repaired and available for pick up by 1:30pm the same day. Every repair or part replacement that they have done for me has been explained in a way I understand even with limited vehicle knowledge, which has made me feel confident that I am not being overcharged or replacing unnecessary parts.

I refused to pay and reminded them of the inspection sheet. Then they said it was fixed. Next hot day i tried the AC and no cool air. Phoned them back and they said to bring it in. Now they say the compressor is shot and they would be happy to fix it if I come up with 900 dollars. They said it worked after they " fixed it" the last time. My question is, if they said it worked when it left the last time and werent going to fix it, then why tell me to bring it in? They knew it wasnt working properly. I jave brought it back 4 times since I bought it in less than a month. They tried to charge me for parts, repairs, etc. the whole way through this ongoing issue. Then they just say, " it worked when you left last time." I call bullshit. DO NOT BUY A VEHICLE HERE. I am not confident they did ANY of the inspection checklist now.

Now to the good part...Idylwyld Auto Service/ Joanne and Steve. Not only were they able to get me in quickly, they were courteous, had great communication throughout and were soon were able to diagnose and fix the engine problem in less than 24 hours at a reasonable cost. Overall, Joanne and Steve are so amazing; once I got it to them my stress levels came way down. I'm definitely going back to them in the future if I have any other issues and I HIGHLY recommend them if you have car issues. They're honest, don't overcharge and very patient (as I was late picking up my car). Seriously. THE BEST!

Warning: Auto Doctor is extremely expensive considering the work that they do!…read more I have taken my car to Auto Doctor in Saskatoon twice now. The first time I did I was charged apx. $250.00 to get my oil changed, get an oil leak fixed and have them check over the whole car as I had just purchased it. They changed the oil and said they have fixed the oil leak. They also told me everything in the car was working perfectly. Too bad the PCV valve in my car was leaking oil, the air filter was ruined, the case for the air filter was broken and my car was STILL LEAKING OIL. The second time I took my car there was to get my block heater replaced as well as the driver side wiper. This ended up costing me $426.00! The block heater itself was $42.05 and the Wiper blade was $14.64. It took them two hours to complete this. There was $240.00 worth of labour charges. They also "accidentally" changed the oil in my car and charged me $30.00 for this and they replaced the passenger side wiper blade as well. Neither of these things were requested. As my father picked my car up and PAID (another issue entirely) I didn't get to have my say with Auto Doctor. But I will say that every other place I called and got a quote from told me the cost LABOUR AND PARTS was anywhere from $130.00 to $180.00 Auto Doctor: Your service sucks, you're too expensive, and no one in my family will ever go to you again. I am just sorry that circumstances were such that I ended up getting robbed of all that money.
