Bearwoods Pro Lawn Installing & Tree Services

Bearwoods Pro Lawn Installing & Tree Services

Carlos is definitely a hard worker, I have no doubt about that.  I also feel that he quoted me a…read morefair price for my service, and wanted me to be a satisfied customer. That said, I not thrilled with my experience.  I used the tree grinder he recommended, and ordered a tree from the garden center he recommended, and the outcome was OK, but not amazing. Carlos did a phenomenal job removing the old tree that I was replacing, I have no criticisms there.  If you're just looking for tree removal, I can absolutely say he did great work. As far as the stump grinder he recommended (Aaron G.), I don't know if that person was less diligent than Carlos, or if the sudden heavy rain we had in the middle of the job made it difficult to do a great job, or if he did everything right.  What I do know is that the new cherry blossom tree that was replacing the old tree was planted higher up and closer to the sidewalk than the old tree it was replacing, and I can't help but wonder if Carlos had no choice but to work around the roots of the old tree. Carlos did pick up the tree from Scottsdale Farm, and installed it the same day as the old tree was removed.  While the tree looks healthy enough, Carlos brought two areas to my attention where he was concerned.   He asked if I had any roof primer (or something similar) to paint over the exposed area and protect the tree.  I said I didn't, but that I would be happy to pay him if he could swing back by and apply what he thought was most appropriate to protect the tree.  As he continued to look at the two spots on the tree, he told me he was concerned about the tree, and that if it was up to him, he would replace it.  He said Scottsdale Farm was generally good about these things, and he would take photos, speak with them, and see what they were willing to do.  He said he'd follow up with me the next day. The week that followed this install is where I felt most disappointed.  I had to repeatedly reach out to Carlos, who would generally say he'd respond later that day or the next morning, and usually did not.  I spoke with Scottsdale Farm, who said they'd speak with Carlos and look at his photos when spoke with them.  Ultimately, Carlos did call me back and say Scottsdale Farm said the tree was healthy, and they didn't see anything concerning enough to replace the tree.  I again asked if he could swing by to apply whatever he felt was most appropriate to protect the areas of the tree we were concerned about, and got a yes, but Carlos never returned. I believe Carlos was suggesting I get some bricks to put up a retaining wall near the sidewalk, but that wasn't super clear, and I was hoping to get some more clarity when he came back, and I genuinely believe he was intending to return after our post-install conversation.  That said, the follow up just wasn't there. I think this is a hardworking guy who means well, but I'm a bit disappointed in the follow up, and wish things had gone smoother both the day of the job and the days after.

He seemed very trustworthy at first and was supposed to be coming back every two weeks for lawn maintenance. So I assumed this would be a long term plan and service provider. Beware if you hire this company for your services. I texted and called multiple times without getting an answer often time. He told me 4 different times that he would come by to finish the work and never showed up. Again it took Caros more than 5 weeks to come back and finish a job he was supposed to finish in one week. He lied to me because he was supposed to have purchase the grass that needed to be installed but every time he kept saying that he needed to go get the grass. Even now two weeks after he removed a stomp of weed/tress I just found a deep root so no wonder the weeds kept coming back.

What I'm not happy about is the scheduling. This is a two front issue. 1.) The service people rarely come the day after receiving the automated phone call. This is a problem because I mow the day or two before application. 2.) I prepaid for aeration at the beginning of May and I'm being told that my yard won't be serviced until late June! That's ridiculous. I really don't want to spread sand in July. So next year, I will be finding a new company to use. I know they have struggled to keep employees around to do the work (that's not a great sign for how the company is run), so these scheduling issues are an obvious side effect of that. Hopefully they can get that under control. I'm also not thrilled that the prices have increased multiple times without any kind of communication. I understand fauxflation has hit everyone, but at least communicate that with your customers. EDIT: The schedulers were able to move me up a week so I'm adding 1 star for the effort.

I was told since they had my credit card number and I had not used the word "hold" for my account, they were keeping my money. My yard actually looks worse every time they treat it. Horrible customer service. The other 117 1 star reviews are for a reason. Do not use this company.

Not a fan. Would not recommend…read more Started service late in the treatment cycle, so we knew we would be fighting an uphill battle, and we recognize that some things are therefore outside of a lawn care company's control. That said, we have never had weeds as bad as we had while using this company. With super hot temperatures this summer, the company said repeatedly that it was just too hot to treat without killing our grass. So, for several months, no weed treatment whatsoever. If that was factually true, that was not my biggest issue (though we were able to find another company that could treat for all weeds no matter the weather - with the exception of crabgrass). Crabgrass was our biggest issue, but to knock out the other weeds we have would - and will - vastly improve our lawn). I called to discuss the weed issue with the company and was told that the owner would come out to look at our lawn and then discuss options. I told the company that unless we could address the weed issue we wanted to cancel. Over a week later no one had come out and I hadn't heard from the company. I finally called to talk to them again about it, and left a message. I arrived home later the same day to find a sign in my yard. A treatment had been done with a note that they still couldn't treat for weeds. With no personal contact, and no plan for the weeds. I felt I had communicated that what we were looking for was a plan for the weeds or we would cancel. And what we got was charged for another treatment we didn't want and still no weed treatment. If they have a specific range of temperatures to follow in order to treat weeds (at first they told me they could not treat in 90+ degree weather, and then they later said they couldn't treat if it was 85+...which is basically all of summer always in Georgia...and it wasn't clear what the top temp really was because the number seemed to change), that is fine, my issue and complaint was the lack of attention given to my concerns (no follow up...no visit by the owner to look at weeds and no phone call to talk about the issue), and that treatment was done though that was definitely not what we talked about. We cancelled and will definitely not use again.

I found Greenfeet from a neighbor's lawn sign. The major reason I called them was the organic and…read moresafer products. My prior company had changed ownership and started spraying something horrendous on the grass. It actually smelled INSIDE the house for two days after they were here. I'd sit here and wonder what horrible disease I was going to be diagnosed with after a few more years of exposure. And my dogs were walking on it. The nice Greenfeet owner came out promptly for an estimate that turned out about $5.00 per treatment less than my old company. And they let you customize number of treatments, so I cut out a couple (I don't need a golf-course quality yard), and that saved a little more, which was an unexpected bonus. Fast forward and I've used Greenfeet awhile now, probably about a year. They show up on schedule, bill correctly, the grass looks good, and I'm not stressing over scary chemicals. The tech that comes out is friendly and cheerful. He rings the bell just to let me know he's on site and check for questions or concerns. Highly recommended.
