TLDR - no communication, sloppy work, we feel ripped off…read more We hired Jake to grade and seed our backyard. The project was to get a nice lawn that we could easily mow and run around without twisting our ankle or tripping on stumps. First he failed to show for two weeks without calling to give us a heads up. When stump grinding began, he left several stumps. Luckily I went out to walk the property before he left. Then for the grading, it's very sloppy. Debris just piled up instead of hauled off. Back 20 feet of the yard was left un-graded. He told me to just put pine straw down to cover up all the roots and stumps (that's not what I wanted). An area I pointed out at least twice that I wanted graded wasn't done and he requested to use my bag of topsoil to fix it when I pointed it out. Seed was dumped on several spots and not properly spread. Stumps and small limbs that should have been removed were left and covered by straw. Top soil brought in appears to be clay, hard packed, and fescue seed will be fighting to sprout. It doesn't appear to be hand graded to even out problem areas despite his claims. He walked off the job and we thought he would be back the next day but he wasn't. By the time he came out to discuss the issues it was too late to fix. We are left with an awful sloppy mess. For all the issues he provided a $600 discount which isn't enough. He failed to listen to my expectations of the project, failed to ask questions to understand, and provided a sloppy product.
