I moved to Fate, TX in January 2023 and with the new season, I needed to get my lawn serviced for a party. My former yard company was usually unresponsive so when I didn't hear from them all week, I wasn't concerned until I reached out today for an ETA and I wasn't on their schedule. I called around and did Angi trying to find someone to come the next morning. I finally ran across Lawn Nerds. He answered my call and initially told me he could come on Monday, but when I explained my dilemma, he came the same day. Hers nice, professional and it didn't take him long. He also helped me with my sprinkler system settings. They were truly an answer to prayer so I would highly recommend because he cared enough to come with very little notice. I hate writing negative reviews about a small business especially when the owner seems like a nice person. But I'm going to be honest--I'm currently watching my husband who has already worked a 65+ hour week try to "mow" our lawn with a weed eater so I'm feeling a bit salty at the moment. We started using Lawn Nerds in July 2020 and things were really good at first. About the only thing I could even say negatively in the beginning is that I asked for a landscaping quote and never received it. Still, they seemed nice and would show up when they said they would or we'd at least hear from them if they had to bump us to another day. Unfortunately, it got to the point this year where I constantly had to wonder if they were ever even going to show up. It's been a MONTH since our lawn was taken care of and despite three requests just in the last week or two with Michael confirming he'd be there--our yard has still not been taken care of. The lack of communication has been so frustrating! We are regular customers and should be on the schedule already. Why did we have to almost beg him to come? Two weeks ago our yard started looking really bad right before we had to go out of town for work. So, my husband asked when they would be able to come out because the HOA was really starting to lose patience with us. My husband was told that it would be done the next week so we didn't worry too much about it while we were gone. We get back from being out of town and the yard hadn't been touched and looked even worse! Instead of unloading the car from the trip, the first thing I did was to message Michael through the website letting him know that we need help ASAP. I told him that we have received another notice from our HOA with a fine so please do your best to get us on the schedule as soon as humanly possible. I receive a message that he will be there the next day to do the lawn. The next morning (Monday) Michael shows up and I go out to speak to him I'm told that the yard is too wet and it's also about to rain. I tell him that I totally understand but ask him to please just get the front yard done for us by Friday so we can avoid additional HOA fees. He agrees and again I ask him for a landscaping quote. Friday rolls around and we hadn't seen or heard from Michael nor received a quote on landscaping. So my husband messages again on Friday afternoon. He's told via text that Michael will be there the next day (Saturday). Saturday comes and goes and you guessed it....no Michael. And the worst part of it? No communication from him whatsoever. I think we'd have both been a lot more understanding even at that point if he had just been honest and told us he wasn't coming so we could have made other arrangements. That was the final straw. I feel like we tried really hard to be patient & understanding and we were very honest with Michael about how upset our HOA was with us over the yard. He seemed to understand our predicament. But we still spent this whole week praying he'd just get the front yard done for us so we wouldn't have a THIRD fine from the HOA and could avoid the nasty looks we've started getting from our neighbors. My husband runs his own company and our mower bit the dust last year (which is the reason we contacted Lawn Nerds to begin with) so there was no way to even do it ourselves. But, we definitely could have posted something on FB had we known that he wasn't going to show up when he said he would! It's now Sunday. We've been stressed out about this all week. Ours is the only yard in the neighborhood that looks like a jungle. My husband has been outside all day today trying to make it look a little less awful with a weed-eater. I'd laugh if I wasn't so frustrated. It's not fun avoiding eye contact with your neighbors. On the bright side, I spoke to a few landscapers today and by noon we had chosen a new company. We now have a landscaping quote, we are on a schedule for lawn service on Tuesday and I have an actual date that the landscaping will be done. I am not ashamed to say that I finally breathed a huge sigh of relief that there's a *chance* that someone will actually show up for us on Tuesday. Being an adult is so weird sometimes. I messaged Lawn Nerds to let them know that we won't be needing them anymore. They didn't even care enough to respond, which is fine. I think it's pretty obvious that our business wasn't that important to them anyway. As small business owners ourselves, we just don't believe it's a very nice way to treat people! read more

We had lawn nerds come to our house a couple weeks ago to quote us. At the time we needed our beds cleaned and that was it, just some weeds pulled. I could see it costing 100. Not only did it take almost two weeks to get back to me when I had told him I needed it done ASAP and if you want jobs you should respond in a timely manner but for our flower beds just for weed pulling, added removal of mulch and adding new mulch which mulch max should be another 50-100 we were quoted an astronomical 600$! Really? For weeds and mulching? We hired another service who also mowed and weeded our beds and paid them 100, they not only did a fabulous job, they came out and quoted and were there two days later, not two weeks. Thanks for absolutely nothing but an overpriced quote. read more

Started off well. As time went on they got worse and worse. Never knew if they were going to show up. When they did show up work was just ok. Had to practically beg for them to come finish projects that really could have been done in 15 min. Still projects remain unfinished . Every week ill be there this weekend .....nope never show over and over. Save yourself the trouble hire elsewhere. read more

Michael and his team are wonderful. Due to some financial hardships, my husband and I decided it would be best to cancel our bi-weekly appointment with Lawn Nerds in an effort to cut unnecessary costs. When I talked to Michael about it, he completely understood the situation and still managed to provide great customer service. If he ever needs to reschedule due to inclement weather or for any other reason, he is great about texting and letting you know ahead of time. His dedication to his work and his customers is why we will continue to use him in the future for all of our needs. read more
