Hello, I brought my 15 year old son who is on the autism spectrum to Lawless Forge for a bottle opener class. He was giddy with anticipation as he's always wanted to try forging. Lawless Forge did not disappoint! Cade, our instructor at the Marysville location, was excellent at explaining each step of the project - breaking it down into doable chunks. He first demonstrated then and let him try each step giving helpful suggestions or guidance along the way. He was respectful of my son's learning process and only helped out after asking permission to step in if needed. His time management of the class was spot on allowing a few water breaks as well- it gets warm in there. Overall this was a very fun and engaging experience with safety emphasized. My son proudly showed off his project to family & friends when we got home. I'd highly recommend taking your family young & old alike to enjoy a forging class here! read more

Fantastic place! The class was a lot of fun and very accessible, even if you have no experience with anything related to blacksmithing. I had Cade for my instructor and he was very kind and encouraging. For all of the hot things you are handling, it's a very chill environment and very welcoming. I highly recommend dressing in layers if you go in the winter. It starts out kind of chilly, but as you work it gets very hot. This is kind of an aside, but I've often been interested in very male-dominated activities and have a large variety of experiences. I've seen many women taking these classes in pictures and reviews, but my class was almost entirely male except for me and one other woman. Even so, it was one of the best experiences I've had taking a class. If you are a woman who is nervous about being in male-dominated environment, please know this is a very welcoming, encouraging and inclusive atmosphere. read more

My son (14) and I visited the Marysville location this past week to make a knife from a horseshoe. It was a lot of fun and an easy going environment. Plenty of parking and easy to find the place. Our host/teacher was friendly and helpful and easy to approach with questions. He made our experience a lot of fun and I would recommend them for an interactive family night. Our class did last almost an hour longer than expected but I'm guessing that's because it was a bigger class. It wasn't a problem for us but something to keep in mind if you're on a specific schedule. read more

I did the horse shoe knife class at the Marysville facility. I had an awesome time, the instructor Jay was awesome, very personable and made even the "boring" safety stuff interesting. The music was going the atmosphere was relaxed and fun, everyone in the class was talking and working together, the whole thing was just excellent!!! Absolutely worth doing! I will totally go back for more classes! I looking forward to them expanding this location!!! Gave this to my 11 year old for Christmas. He loved it, said it was the best present he has ever received. The instructions were step by step so he had no problem following with the class. I was allowed to stay and observe, taking pictures. Instructor, Jay, was great, kept building my sons confidence, telling him how good he was doing and telling him this is your knife you dont have to make it look like anyone elses. We participated in the knife-making class and had a great time! Makes for a great gifted experience - we did it as a celebratory activity and had a great time! Our instructor, Buddy, was clearly well-prepared and experienced. He was super helpful and funny. The class structure was independent but the instructor showed each step and then was around to help if you got lost. 10/10 would recommend! No experience necessary and we walked out with some seriously cool knives! read more

This was fun! Awesome. My husband and kids teens and pre teens) really enjoyed learning about this art and Cade our instructor was clear about instructions, fun and supportive. Bc of the nature of working in a Blacksmith shop it can be warm and a bit loud. We were given all the gear to take care of our bodies, offered bottles of water and encourage to ask questions any time. Its a great program. Highly recommend! read more

It was such a great experience. The instructor has so much knowledge and helped us through every step of the way. Dont think your strong enough to swing that hammer? He teaches you the correct way so you dont wear yourself out. Downfall...standing on a concrete floor for 3 hours. The class before us was running late so we did as well. Amazing time here! Joined a group of coworkers and attended the 3 hour workshop where we forged a knife out of a horseshoe - Peter was our instructor and kept things fun and engaging and was there to help or assist every step of the way. Great time and fun experience. The instructor Cade was knowledgeable and easy to work with and learn from. Just enough coaching to make a nice knife but too much where you feel like your watching a knife being built. I have an will continue to re commend this experience to others. Cade was our instructor for the bottle opener class. It was a blast, and was accessible for even my parents in their 60s. Very friendly, informative, and we have great creations to take home. It's definitely dirty work, and we were starving by the end of the class, so plan your day accordingly. Highly recommend! read more

Our class was Awesome!! 13 guys from church ranging from 17-65 had a blast at the forge!! Jay was fantastic as a smith, as a teacher and very friendly and open to any questions!! we are already talking about the next class!! Our experience of forging knives from horseshoes was great. Our party included two dads and two boys aged 9 and 11. The boys had a great time and there was plenty of time allowed for the dads to help the boys and also complete their own knives. Our instructor Cade was great. read more
