If I could rate a BIG Zero, I would. Like a couple of the reviewers I was referred here by my dentist for teeth extractions.
Now I would like to say we are in the 21st century. If you have a website, it's almost confirmed that an email exists somewhere.
After my referral, I called the office and asked them what they would like from me because my dentist recommended I get three of my wisdom teeth removed. The lady Amy (she's still there) asked me if I had a referral and who gave me that referral. I told her my dentist and I asked if I can email a copy of the referral to her. They had printed a copy of my X-ray on white paper and stapled it to a referral sheet. Amy said they don't do email and I said alright because not everyone believes in email right. So I ask if I can fax it and she said no because it could mess up the quality. So I said okay. I'll drive to their location and drop it off. She asked me what day I was coming and stressed that they are at two different offices and close the one they aren't at for the day. I said I would drop it off on Wednesday where they were in Honolulu.
On Wednesday I called to ask what time they close. Amy picked up the phone and asked what I wanted. I asked for the time they closed. She then immediately asks me to hold. After about a minute she comes back on and right away asks if I can be put on hold again. Frustrated I said sure. She finally came on again and asked me what I wanted. Again, I asked what time do you close today? She then asks "what is your name?". At this point I'm pretty upset and frustrated. I just wanted to know what time they close and she has to put me on hold twice and ask for my name to tell me what time the office closes. I tell her "Ma'am, I just need to know what time you close." Then she goes, "well we are at two different offices." Well, Amy, I obviously called the right office because you picked up. Just tell me the time you close.
She finally tells me the time. I don't already like this place. No technology and no customer focus at all. Plus why all the questions. I was expecting a 30 second call and ended up being on the phone for 5 minutes.
As if my last two phone calls didn't shy me away, I still go in and drop off my X-rays. Amy wasn't too bad in person.
She calls me on Friday and I'm at work so I wasn't able to answer the call. She left me a message asking me to call her on Saturday. I was not able to call on Saturday because I was a other things I had to do and I forgot.
On Monday morning at around 8:10AM I call the Honolulu office hoping that was where they were going to be. Amy picks up the phone. I identify myself and she immediately says, "you didn't call me back on Saturday." Like it's my fault and she's accusing me of not doing my due diligence. This really sets me off.
But because I am still hoping to receive a service from them I try to shrug it off and ask her if she got the estimate for my three extractions. She said it'll be about $450 and I'll have to pay it up front. I asked if she could break down the charges for me. She immediately says, "It's Monday morning." Like I'm suppose to understand what Monday morning means to you lady. Plus why do I really care. If you don't have time for me just let me know and I can go look for another oral surgeon or at least a more tech savy customer focused one. I then ask her, "can you tell me how much it'll cost before the insurance" she says about $1,500. I said I'll just call my insurance and ask them to break it down for me because she's too busy to of it. She then says that I shouldn't do that because of doctor fees and stuff. And I'm thinking, this does not sound right, plus this lady is pretty horrible repeatedly.
I get off the phone because she's so busy but she is able to fit me in for three extractions that afternoon if I agree to the charges.
I vent my frustration to a friend and the friend points out that there's been a lot of bad press in the news about oral surgeons with the three year old dying and the 23 year old lady in a coma and a homeless vet, dead as well. I say, that's a really goof point! You would think they would want to be nice and reassuring, not callous, busy and "Amy"-like.
I never met Dr. Kim Lawler; I couldn't tell you if it is a man or woman, but I can say I never will because of Amy. I'm not sure what her issues were or if it was just me, but I did not like her at all because of the way she treated me on the phone multiple times. It's not like she was rude once because she had a bad day and I caught her at a bad time. I called on different occasions at different times of the day.
Plus it sounds like Amy has treated other customers this way too. If you like horrible evasive incompetent receptionists I'd recommend this place. If not, look for another oral surgeon like I'm about to do.
I hope this review helped the reader out. If Amy is gone and they have a better receptionist, let me know too. read more
