Okay we decided we wanted some great Food tonight for dinner and decided to go here. Absolute let DOWN. The food lacked in flavor completely, but they charge you for sauces.... I couldn't even finish my food because it was so disappointing. It was supposed to be vegetables and chicken and shrimp but there were nearly any veggies, specifically when I asked for extra veggies. The soup came with udon noodles when on the menu it said rice noodles. We also ordered a shrimp wonton soup and we were served vegetable dumplings because these contained absolutely no shrimp whatsoever. There are other places you should look before deciding to come here. They served a egg roll cold. I am honestly upset but how much money was spent at this place. What the heck people. I think this was my first Yelp letdown. I got mapo tofu, which was slightly disappointing. I expected it to have ground meat, like it usually does, but theirs does not. It came with mushrooms and peas and carrots (probably from a frozen bag). Taste wasn't too bad though. I thought it actually tasted better the next day as leftovers. The rest of the menu was eh. I didn't see that many things that were incredibly appetizing or if they were, they were expensive ($15/plate for a Taiwanese cafe?! No.). I also got my usual milk tea with tapioca. I had to run down to Morgantown with honey to pick up a few things and decided to eat here based on some reviews we read. Food did not impress: lukewarm, not much flavor and the claypot squid portion was lacking to say the least. Example here, the squid was about $15, the amount in the pot may have been enough to feed half a person. When asked why there was so little they claimed that is one serving size and quickly left before we could say anything else. At the end, the total bill was nearly $60 and we left unsatisfied, hangry, and out $60 and nothing to really show for what we paid. read more

We haven't had food from here in about a year and we were very disappointed. We ordered sushi, soup, an app and a hot meal for pick up. The sushi was warm because it was placed on the bottom of the bag with all the warm food on top. I ordered the triple delight which was supposed to have jumbo shrimp but it was tiny shrimp. The food was luke warm. When my husband went to pick it up he was told that the food wasn't ready, why was the cold food warm and hot food luke warm. I came to Morgantown to visit a friend and we got delivery from here. We ordered the volcano roll, general tso chicken and taiwanese rice cake. The volcano roll was really disappointing, the rice was a bit too sticky and the rolls were so big, they were essentially burritos. My friend regrets cheating on Volcano's volcano roll. The general tso was a little too sour for my taste, and I've definitely have had better. The portions were small, but expect for a lunch special. We ordered the taiwanese rice cakes, but we received taiwanese rice noodles instead. Aside from the mix up, this dish was decent. Nothing too special, but not bad. Bubble tea was OK. Their taro and ginger milk tea was good, and I like that they have soy substitutes. I probably wouldn't come back any time soon, but if I lived around the area I would give them another shot. Next time, I'd probably order some more authentic taiwanese dishes though. read more

More breading than chicken, sauce was full of red pepper flakes with no flavor. Ordered takeout on Valentine's Day (romantic, I know). This place caught my and my girlfriend's attention a long time ago, but we just never got around to checking it out. Anyway, I'm glad we finally did! We were indecisive as always, so we ordered a bunch of smaller items rather than one or two entrees. We opted for the deep fried crab rangoons, Taiwanese salt & pepper chicken, scallion pancake with egg, marinated beef, and chicken corn soup. The crab rangoons were the best I had ever had, as they were stuffed fuller than what I'm used to. The next best item was probably the corn soup. It had such an intense corn flavor and large chunks of chicken. The salt & pepper chicken was also really good with its sauce. We watched a movie in bed and ate the little pieces of chicken like it was popcorn haha. The scallion pancake and marinated beef weren't bad but forgettable. We're not from the area so we found the nearby parking to be a little sketch. This leads me to believe we made the right decision to take out. Overall we were really pleased with our order. Rangoons were crispy, filling had a lovely flavor, and the sauce was nicely balanced. --Shrimp Spring Roll: I was not impressed; only took one bite. Flavor is almost nonexistent, and something stringy inside put me off having any more. Outside was not very crunchy. I'm glad I only ordered one, and they were so inexpensive. --Miso Soup: Flavor was decent, but I feel it could use a bit more tofu compared to normal miso. --6 Pieces Salmon Roll: least favorite part of the order. Sushi rice was VERY dry, and the fish was not fresh - a bit discolored, more like grocery store quality than restaurant quality. I don't think I'll get sick by any means, but I won't be ordering sushi from here again. Food arrived in less than half the time estimated, which was pretty nice. The sushi was packaged in the same bag as all of the hot food, which warmed it up a bit more than I would have liked. Otherwise not bad! I remember this being some beat up take out Chinese place when I was in school so when my friend told me Lavender Cafe had taken it's place, I wasn't expecting that much. Boy, was I wrong. It's very unassuming but quite cozy when you walk in, decked out with a lavender door and all and was hopping for a Tuesday night in Morgantown while the area was under a tornado watch. I liked their menu because not only was it one type of Asian cuisine-they had Thai, Chinese and Japanese food. My friend said their sushi was amazing and I am team sushi all the way however I didn't feel so confident about ordering sushi in Morgantown. I'm a sushi snob, there I said it! Not feeling like a gambler, I stuck with old faithful and got the Chicken Pad Thai. The portion sizes were out of control-so much food on such a small plate. I ate every bite up and couldn't have been happier. It was one of the best pad thai's I've ever had and they even listened to me when I said I liked it spicy. The spice was there but didn't overtake the peanut flavor which happens most of the time with me. My friend got the Godzilla Roll and I admit, when I saw it I had a bit of food envy. I tried and roll and again, it was fabulous (see the pic, it's gorgeous!!) Staff is very friendly and they had a team effort thing going on. They must have been very concerned about my hydration since I got 8+ refills of water. I like that they care about my water intake, hugs, Lavender Cafe! I was browsing the yelp app looking for the hot spots in the area as I typically do when staying in a hotel. I decided to click the delivery tab and found this place. After checking out the reviews and the pictures, I decided to give yelps delivery service a shot. I'm happy I did, as the food arrived quickly and it was all pretty good! I started with the miso soup. The flavor there was good, however it was about 99% broth. The tofu was diced so small you hardly even knew there was any there. Next was General tso chicken. Large chicken chunks were cooked to perfection. The sauce was a hero for me, thick so it stuck to the chicken and red with chills, it had a good bite but in no way overpowering the sweet of the tso sauce. I also enjoyed mango green tea boba during this meal, as good as any other boba tea I've had. All in all, not the best Chinese I've ever had but damn good and I wouldn't hesitate to return if I'm in the area again. read more

If I'm ordering Chinese takeout, it's usually because I'm craving General Tso's chicken and some soup. I don't expect too much. Just for the chicken to be fried well and decent-tasting, and I'd hope the soup would taste normal, that's all I want. That being said, I'm quite surprised at how bad the food was here. The egg drop soup was neon orange, watery, and very oily. The General Tso's chicken was also super bland and there was way more breading than chicken. It seemed to be tiny pieces of chicken mashed together in each giant lump of dough. Also, I was unnerved at how I could taste the flavor of the oil used to fry the chicken, but there was no taste of the meat itself. It could have been anything in there, I couldn't tell. I hate wasting food, and this was the first time I seriously considered throwing away food I ordered. The food portion size is small for the price. The hot and sour soup was very delicious, as was the lomein and fried rice. However, the sesame chicken, sushi, and garlic chicken were quite average. And while if the customer service was quality, I would order again- it was far below that. I called to tell a sushi roll was bad and they yelled at me and said their job was significantly harder than mine (I'm a nurse) and said they work far worse hours than me. Fantastic restaurant. Everything there is consistently delicious, and whether you're looking for traditional Taiwanese food, Chinese, or sushi, this place has you covered. Be prepared to throw down a bit of cash (average person comes to about $20), but you won't feel like your money is wasted. The decor is quaint and easy on the eyes, and for large parties there are separate rooms, giving your group a privacy not often seen nowadays. I highly recommend the Taiwanese Chunk Chicken if you're looking for a spicy dish that won't disappoint. For something milder, but no less delicious or filling, try the Beef Stew. This place is quickly becoming my favorite place for Pan-Asian cuisine. Everything I have had here is delicious. From the Miso Soup (light, barely sweet, and very savory) to the sushi (as fresh as you're going to get in Morgantown, unless there's a restaurant with a helicopter somewhere) - I have yet to have something from this place that I didn't like. Now, granted, I am a biggish guy, and one of the reasons for my biggishness is that I like a lot of foods. But I can honestly say that the dishes here are refreshing takes on classic Asian dishes. The General Tso's chicken is spicy, with big chunks of chicken and vegetables. The Kim Chi has the most wonderful texture (although I doubt they make it in the most traditional way) and is eye-tearing, icewater gulping spicy. It is the single best dish for dark and dreary winter nights. My single favorite dish here is the deep fried fish cakes. They use sweet thai basil and other spices with a fish paste, and cook it into these golden sticks of deliciousness. I strongly urge you to check this place out. read more
