I have used Lavar Spa four times so far. My first visit was out of curiosity to see how the open system colonic used at Lavar Spa compares to the closed system colonics I usually receive. If the goal is the flush poop out of my colon, then the open system works really well. However it is an exhausting experience. It feels like having an attack of explosive diarrhea every two or three minutes, whereas I can just relax and let it happen with the closed system while I am chatting to the therapist who has to be there the whole time. After the first session, Michael talked me into paying for more visits with a half price deal. When it is half price (making it similar to the Groupon price), it is a good deal and much cheaper than the closed system colonics (which usually cost more than $100 per visit). Personally, I would recommend closed system colonic hydrotherapy (as provided by Inner Garden Health) for anyone's first time because there is a therapist with you to help and explain everything. Only when you are confident enough to do everything yourself without a therapist present should you switch to the open system used by Lavar Spa. --- For those who want an explanation -- the closed system uses a fairly wide tube inserted into the rectum. Water is pumped in through that tube until you say stop or a maximum safe pressure is reached, and then the water pressure inside your colon pushes the poop out back through the same tube, going straight into the sewer system. No odour and no effort by you. The open system uses a narrow tube which continually sends a stream of warm water into the colon. After your body has sensed it has received enough, it causes you to expel all that water plus poop into an open drain which is located just underneath your butt. There is very little odour because the poop goes down the drain almost immediately. But your colon works to expel that water plus poop and it can be quite tiring after a while. read more

I went for my first session just yesterday and I had a wonderful experience. Michael, the person who manages the spa, was very patient and explained in great detail how the whole thing worked. He also provided tips on what I could eat to gain energy back. I have been going through a 4 year ordeal living in a terrible place with black mold and rats infestation..., not enough air flow and in spite of my efforts the landlord took 4 years to realize he had to call a professional to solve the issue as I was literally on my way out. After 9 weeks of not being able to consistently drink water and keep it down, no bowl movements when I used to be regular I also got swollen legs in the past 2 weeks, full of psoriasis and truly unable to move. The care facility was very clean. Upon arrival Michael served us alkaline lemon slightly warm water and that was the first time I did not have a gag reaction, my stomach was actually happy. Then after a one hour explanation and consultation we started the session. I had someone with me to help me but it was easy getting on the machine. The water pressure is very gentle, I am super sensitive to everything and I can tell you it was an amazing experience. Getting rid of all that fecal matter after so long felt so good. My legs started improving almost right away, they were getting swollen even above the knees. I also noticed I had more energy, in fact after the sessions we went looking for supplies so we could also make alkaline water at home, Michael showed us how, and some special food to provide energy and I was able to walk a few blocks. I had to take breaks but it's more than I have been able to do in over 9 weeks. We paid for 2 appointments to start, it was a special deal for new clients, but I plan on making this my go to and stick to it because I feel out of all the stuff I have tried this is the winner. I do realize many people are warned that this is dangerous but to my personal experience all those reviews must be from pharma pushers who want to sell their drugs rather than let patients get to the root of the issue and truly heal. There they also have a machine to help swollen legs so I will try it if my legs don't go down this week. I am not telling my mother who has been wrecked over the years by pharma to try this, I think she will benefit so greatly she will feel younger and overall much less expensive than most other things. I don't use pharma as in 51 years it has only harmed it, being autistic my sensory system is very delicate and I usually over react to everything so I am impressed with this spa and how great it felt in there. Michael seems he does not care what meds/supplements i am taking, and what is my health issues and concerns. There is an answer, no matter how much you reveal your health history. He is more focused on upselling his products which i do not need (i have my own). He tried to convince his products are very good, but i doubt those supplements are specially better than mine. He keeps asking me to buy them $150. Are those supplements approved by FDA and a 100%resolution to my vowel issue? I wonder. He encourages hydrotherapy but not saying cons or risks of the therapy. He wants to market more services and products with the other 1/2 hour talk and btw, he offers no coffee for the cleansing as another spa has offered previously. Went here for my first ever session of colon hydrotherapy. I brought my husband along as a guinea pig as well. When we went in it was a very nice place, quite calm. We were given water and a nice place to sit. We came here as I bought one of those deals and it was expiring soon. Now when I was there the gentleman that worked there was on the phone with another person that had the same deal and she was trying to get all of her vouchers done right away before the expiry. I think she thought she could just call and get in same day. Anyway the guy was trying to fit her in so she could get all her sessions done before expiry and she was complaining about the days and times offered and why wouldn't they honour the "coupon" after the expiry date. He made the very good point that it was valid for a year and it was not their fault that that person had waited until the last minute to book anything. It sounds like she was giving him a real hard time on the phone but he stayed professional all the way. I hope that lady learns her lesson on how to speak to people. Anyway besides the drama. The whole experience was nice. It was all very quiet and self controlled. I greatly appreciated the level of privacy given as it is not something I would be comfortable having someone else in the room for. the only thing was I pushed my button and waited more than 5 minutes for someone to come check on me. I would give this a 3.5 overall, but I don't' really have anything to compare it to either. So I gave it a 4 based on the professionalism. Pros: Super friendly staff, very professional. The privacy is great and everything looks sanitary. Cons: At the end they are kinda pushy for you to buy sessions. Also I wasn't sure how long I was going to be there for. I arrived at the Spa 10 minutes prior to my appointment. They had me fill out 3 pages of info regarding my personal health, and I was given a glass of warm water. I waited 58 minutes after my appointment was scheduled to start, before I was brought in. I was given no explanation as to why things were running so late. I was just told "It shouldn't be too much longer". I was very close to getting up and leaving after I saw about 3 other clients be brought in, after arriving well after my time. These clients were clearly regulars, as the front desk guy knew them by name. But still...There are obviously preferred clients, and it doesn't matter whose appointment was first. Once I was brought in, I was explained how to use the machines on my own. The man who explained it to me (the same guy running the front desk) was awkward, and didn't speak with confidence. The water was on for 20 minutes, not 30, after watching my phone, and timing it myself (after reading online that someone else had been cheated of their time). After the 20 minutes, Michael abruptly came in, told me I had done well, that I should come back the next day, and explained what to do next. Before and after the treatment, they weigh you. I was told the scale might be off by about 5 pounds. (Why don't they just get a good scale, if it's part of their process for every client?). I weighed the same before the treatment, and after the treatment. Michael told me that's exactly what he suspected. I don't get it. Anyways, I wouldn't recommend this place. I don't think I'll be returning. None of my concerns regarding my allergies/general health were addressed, and I wasn't explained the benefits, things to look out for, or, come to think of it, anything! It's really expensive, and they definitely try to upsell you (I don't blame the business for this. I think that's the real point of a Groupon, is to market your business to have customers return). Though I was hesitant, I decided to try out colon hydrotherapy. A friend was raving about how much she liked it (I don't recall where she went), and I was participating in a 10-day cleanse that recommended colonics. I initially purchased a Groupon with another company but when I found out that I wouldn't be getting an appointment for 5-weeks, I cancelled! I purchased three 30-minute sessions from Groupon for Lavar and was able to get in the next day. The initial visit consisted of a lengthy consultation which I enjoyed. I experienced terrible nausea, cramping, and numbness in my lower arms that I couldn't complete the full first session. I was under a lot of personal stress and also the first appointment colonic jitters that may have also contributed to those symptoms. The staff member was very attentive to assist me in my pain and discomfort by rubbing my belly and reassuring me. The 2nd and 3rd visit I experienced cramping again, which I guess is a normal part of the cleansing process for some people. It was an interesting experience and though I didn't notice any obvious signs of benefits, I don't regret trying it out. The nozzle you stick in your butt (so weird saying this) is actually thin and only 1.5" long is needed, so luckily that wasn't too much of an issue for a butt virgin like myself haha. The website states the rooms are aromatherapy-scented, but I didn't notice this. I think at least 40-minute treatment sessions may be more beneficial, so that the cleanse can perhaps go deeper. It's weird to be pushing out throughout the whole appointment, but you have to treat it like the toilet lounge chair it is. Deep breaths in and out also help if you get the cramping. I liked the atmosphere of the place, it appeared clean in the treatment rooms and all the staff (Cathy, Tina, Ming) were personable and just lovely! No sales pressure either, especially for a Groupon. :) read more

DO NOT GO HERE!! I bought three vouchers (and booked all three in advance) to try out what colonic hydrotherapy was, as it was recommended to me by friends (the therapy in general not this business). When I arrived I was ignored by the front desk staff for 5 minutes, the staff who measured me were incompetent and didn't even know how to properly measure me, I waited an HOUR AND A HALF before they even told me that they didn't have a room available because they needed to do all this special testing (a lie...that never happened) and that I would have to come back tomorrow. And if I didn't like it, they told me rather rudely that I could call the voucher company to get reimbursed if I wanted to instead. I was livid...and I am not one to easily anger. I did go back two days later, for my second appointment that I had already made, just to see if it would be any different, and to give it a second chance...sucker for punishment I guess. My second time there (but first ACTUAL appointment) was no better. Although I got in within 15minutes of arrival, the actual process did not go well...the tube wasn't even attached to the machine (I found out later) so absolutely nothing happened and I was not informed of a a call button or bell to get help. Not only that, but when they DID check in on me, I told them something was wrong and that I didn't feel anything, he only asked me if the tube was in the right hole. HAHA! Seriously?!? At my age I would hope that I know one hole from the other...and if I didn't, then I most certainly would have some serious issues to deal with! lol And to top it off, after their "assessment" from a session that wasn't even done properly, I was advised I should be going every 24hrs...48hrs max. At about $100 a pop...Hmmm....I think not. Do I hear a cash grab? Overall, the customer service and competency of the staff, in my opinion, are well below par. If I could rate "no stars" I would...but apparently I have to give at least one. And I am not the only client of theirs that feels this way either. I had TWO women on both of those days who seen me in there and approach me after I walked out to ask me how my session went. With a simple "Not good" response I found out that lo and behold...they too had an unpleasant experience. Don't waste your money here. Do your research first. I wish I had. Saw that Groupon today had an offering for this place and was looking for a place to post a review to warn people ahead of time what they might be in for. Living Social had the same deal, which I bought and used last year. Was a little apprehensive, never having done a colon cleanse before, but couldn't find any horrible reviews of the place online, and price was right so figured I'd take a chance. First, let me say that the actual colon cleanse was fine. It's a different sensation, for sure, but you "self-administer" and once you get used to the feeling of water flowing in, it's not bad. There's a tv in the room and everything looked absolutely clean and sanitary. EVERYTHING else I have to say about this place is horrible. The guy in charge (owner?) Michael, was, by far, the worst example of customer service I have ever dealt with. He turned me off from the minute I walked in and it went downhill, fast, from there. This place was the colonic equivalent of a timeshare presentation. HEAVY pressure to buy future visits. I walked in, filled out my questionnaire (without my real contact info as I could tell right away what this was going to be about and didn't want any follow-up hassle). As other reviews on the http://www.n49.ca/biz/lavar-spa-h2o-cleansing/bc/vancouver/179-davie-street/ site have mentioned, Michael will take you around the corner, whip out his phone, show you pictures of him fat before and much thinner now due to a month of cleansings. Also told me that he has people come every day to cleanse, AS YOUNG AS SEVEN! Right then, I stopped really listening. Also took some pics of me, and then proceeded to show me pics of other people on his phone which I thought was super unprofessional and a big invasion of privacy. Talked a lot to me about "toxins" and kept trying to get me to answer his questions with how he wanted them answered "Don't you see that you look sick?" "So you must feel very unhealthy, right?" etc etc. All the while just staring, bug-eyed, not really blinking. I usually wouldn't slam people for their looks/mannerisms, but in this case/setting it was really creepy, unsettling, and off-putting. Did the cleanse. He popped in and out (after knocking) a few times during it to examine the water flow/discharge in the clear pipes and kept on again about how blocked I am, how the water flow isn't great, how much stuff must be compacted inside me, blah blah. Obviously I didn't expect to be completely Drano'd anyways, and these were clearly tactics to get me to book more, but for anyone who might not be on to what he was doing, you might feel scared/duped into buying more. After the cleanse, it was back to the reception area where the HEAVY sales talk began. *Whips out appointment book and pen* So when do you want to book? Can't remember if it was before or after the cleanse, but they talk about the session packages they offer and the costs were outrageous, IMO. I only bought this BECAUSE it was a deal through Living Social, and it was something I thought I'd try, but NO chance I'd buy this at regular prices. And ZERO chance I'd go, even if it was free, if Michael was still there. Yes, he made the experience leave THAT bad a taste in my mouth that I would take the time to write a review like this. Wish there had been one like it before I bought my deal, but I see there are many on another review site now, so clearly I'm not the only one who feels this way! My girlfriend and I tried their service. I have been doing enema for over a year for diverticulosis problem. My girlfriend has constipation issue. I was able to get myself cleaned out better than I am usually able to using at home enema. My girlfriend was able to empty out more than she had in the past few days. We used the Richmond location. My first review of this place has been filtered for quite some time. Anyone looking to go to this place should definitely read the filtered reviews before making the decision to buy any of their discount vouchers. Here is the review again: Pushy, rude, and dishonest. Thats all I have to say about the place. I bought a Living Social coupon and i had a consultation as well as a first cleansing session. The owner Michael is quite a smooth talker and convinced me to buy a package which was 5 cleansing sessions for 30 mins each for $400, to be completed in a 2 week period. So I went for it, since I thought it might be good for some bowel movement because I'm quite... constipated. So the dishonest part comes here My first of the 5 30 mins sessions worked, I passed some movement, but what I found strange was that I was in that room for less than a half hour from the time that I saw; I thought it may have been a mistake, so the next day I went, I set the timer on my cellphone, and sure enough, my time has been cheated. I was in the room for 18 minutes, and Michael came in to tell me that my time is up. I went to the front after I got dressed to speak with the receptionist because Michael was busy with a new client, so I waited. I addressed that my session was less than 20 minutes and here he tried to intimidate me by standing really close to me with very strong eye contact. There are timers outside every door and he told me that that is the time that they go by, and there is no way I was in there for 18 minutes, though I had solid proof that I timed it for 18 minutes the moment he turned on the machine and left the room. Then he starts telling me a cock and bull story about how the time of my session is determined on my colon strength. Well that makes no sense because he doesn't know what the hell my colon strength is. Then I asked him whether the timer on the door is manually set (which it obviously is) or whether the machine with the tube up my ass sets the time ( which is the only way he would be able to determine my "colon strength") and he completely avoided my question, finishing off with "we go by the time on this timer, but if you want a longer time, we'll do it for you the next session." well, DUH I bought a package for 5 sessions worth 30 mins each. So needless to say, I obviously went to my remaining sessions, except for the last one which I cancelled and forfeited, so that Michael won't try to upsell me another package which aren't cheap. If you have the money to spend, then all the power to you, go for it, but after doing this, I definitely do not recommend cleansing everyday like he suggests you to, its not good for your body as it will create dependency on the process to have bowel movements. I went to this place for my first colon cleanse by searching online. Upon arrival, I was greeted and welcomed with water and a nice recieptionist. After a quick 5 minute wait, a colon cleanse therapist (taught by owner Michael, but not licensed) sits you down and goes through a 15 minute consultation with you regarding medical history and habits. When the colon hydratherapy starts, the therapist teaches you what to do, and then tells you to try to do it yourself. She told me most clients that come in proceed with doing the whole process (inserting a small tube into your buttocks) themselves. I was in a bit of shock as it was my first time and I had no idea what to do. She leaves the room while my stomach was being pumped with water and I had to shut the water off myself because there was too much pressure. I asked her to come in a few times to help me out since I was very nervous and the instructions were not very clear. She was patient with me, but seemed like she had a few other clients to attend to as she kept leaving. The the beginning when I stepped in, the owner comes out and recommends a special "weight loss" pill which has 1 ingredient, (they make their own pills manufactured by someone else and stick on their own labels), which costs $250 a bottle. He tells me I will need atleast 3 bottles. I told him I will think about buying 1 bottle in the future. As I am leaving, the recieptionist tells me I owe them $250 as my name has been written on the bottle of weight loss pills with a sharpie. I told her I was still considering purchasing it, and she tells me I should buy it anyways since she already wrote my name on it and I felt very embarassed not to buy it and get her in trouble, so I bought it. The pill did nothing for me - did not feel any more energetic, full, have weight loss etc. A few weeks later, I go to the health food store and ask about this "weight loss remedy" with 1 ingredient, Lavar Spa charges $250 plus tax, while health food stores such as Body Energy Club charges $23.99 for the exact same ingredient and dosage. This place is a scam and they force you to purchase products. I later on see that they have and ad on Groupon and now I know why. read more

I had a great experience at Lavar Spa. I got 3 hydrotherapy sessions trough Groupon. The staff was nice, young, energetic and seemed knowledgeable. The session itself is pretty comfortable as you are in a room by yourself, although the staff may sometimes check on you. The ambiance of the spa is also nice and relaxing. At the end of my first session, I was handed a sheet with a smoothie recipe to "equilibrate my pH". While I was skeptical, I was later told that the foods in the smoothie were alkaline and it would help to soften my excrements. I have since researched it for myself and now think that a more alkaline diet could really help my health problems (I have irritable bowel syndrom). I am thankful that trough my visits to Lavar Spa, that door to knowledge was open for me. At my last session, the guy (probably the manager?) entered in my room and told me it would be good for me to have weekly sessions, and then bi-weekly, and then monthly. Although I appreciated my sessions, I can't afford to pay so many future sessions. Surprisingly, they barely tried to sell me more. When a woman working there asked me unenthusiastically if I wanted to buy more, I just shook my head and said no, and that was the end of it. They also provide delicious mandarins to their clients in two bowls: one at the reception, one in the hallway where they'll ask you to sit while you wait for your room to be available. After my third and last session, before I left, I (in front of two clients, the guy, and another employee) took the bowl of mandarins that was at the reception and emptied it in my backpack before placing it back on the table. As I expected, I was met with confused looks, to which I simply answered: "...those are expensive these days" (i.e. I can't always afford to buy them). The guy looked at me, still a bit shocked, and said "yes, they are.....very expensive....". I apologize to the two clients who saw me and to all employees if I caused trouble, but in my current financial and familial situation, I couldn't pass on that. I didn't have an ethical issue about that, and I've come to a point where I mostly don't care what other people might think of me. Thanks again to the staff @ Lavar Spa, I'd certainly come back if it wasn't so damn expensive (even with the discount); and if I wasn't in this painful financial, familial and legal situation (I have to sustain myself entirely on a low wage, can't live with any of my family members, and my husband is a low-income US citizen who is in California, on food stamps and who did not get to finish high school when everybody did due to transportation issues; we do not meet the financial criterias for immigration...which disadvantages us even more economically, emotionally and mentally...married, but we have to live separately as if we were single, it's painful on all levels). I gave the colon hydrotherapy a try despite the cost to see if it could help with my health issues, and it indirectly did...this smoothie recipe and the explanation for it set me on a path of knowledge that might follow me for the rest of my life. I have been doing colonics/colon hydro-therapy for over 3 years now and this was the worst experience I ever had. I hated the way I kept getting disturbed during the session and staff tried to get me to buy more services during the session! I have always done this with a practitioner, but since I just moved here I figured why not get some more privacy so try this out. I thought that my experience would be even more relaxing and more effective, well it was the complete opposite and I did not even get half of the benefit, my body couldn't relax because as I started to get comfortable, someone would walk in and say something, about time or to ask how I'm doing?! (There is a button in the room for assistance, so constant checking is pointless) Anyhow, I think I would much rather have someone there the whole time, talking to me about life and making me comfortable and tracking the process as we went (WITHOUT A MILLION questions)... At Lavar, I think the concept is not to give you a more private experience, the concept is having one or two people run the business and have multiple sessions happen at the same time, rather than one-on-one costs. They should at least sell their service at a discount, yet they are charging the same or more than the spas that do one-on-one. The first thing I notice was the weird smell as I approached the spa. It definitely smelled like a fraternity bathroom even before I reached there. The smell of course intensified after I got to the spa. Nevertheless, the place was clean and the equipment was clean. The cleansing part of the experience was good. The room was private and clean. There was a lot of privacy. You get to insert the tube yourself. Below your waist, you are covered under a sheet so it's not uncomfortable even when they come in to check on you. The tubes were all disposable. The only thing is that after the time was up, I still had tons of water in my colon and they needed the room. It was good that the only one restroom in the whole place was available. Otherwise, it would have been really unpleasant (and not just for me). One thing I really disliked about the place was one of the managers is so pushy. He kept saying that one should be cleansing every 24 hours or 48 hours. As a matter of fact, several MDs question the necessity of colon hydrotherapy and that too frequent use could remove the beneficial bacteria also. In addition, he pretended to cite scientific a Harvard study about hip to waist ratio that was completely taken out of context. And made several dubious claims that might be in contravention of Canadian law. So just be aware if you go there. Though I had a few session left, I never went back just because I thought the manager was not the most truthful and was overly pushy. One final issue is that they should really do something about the smell. I think the overall experience would be greatly improved if both of these issues were resolved. read more

I bought a session from a GroupOn promo that was going on (they seem to constantly have them). The ladies working were very friendly and the environment was small but nice. Like I said, I was already a fan of this treatment so no one was in need of selling me on it BUT they TRIED (over tried) and I left super disappointed. So the session starts, I don't know what I was thinking it would be like but it was less than ideal. The session is painful and pretty disgusting/dirty. The water splashes all over your legs and table..not pretty. I actually ended up stopping my session after 15 minutes. Also, was not a fan of them trying to over sell packages after my initial treatment. She wanted me to come back 3 times the following week. No thank you. I had gone to lavar spa a while ago and there were some things that made me really uncomfortable about my experience. I wanted to give it another chance so I talked about what things I needed to be changed, like being weighed before and after, (I don't have colonics for weight loss, I have a medical condition that is relieved with this treatment) when I went back, I was so happy with the respect given to me regarding my requests. From the time I got there to the time I left the owner was being EXTREMELY pushy and just trying to make me buy their packages. They hydrocolontherapy was not doing anything for me and he was saying I need more sessions. Seriously? Of course, nothing was happening I couldn't even feel the water. I had to wait an hour and a half before finally deciding to leave. I also saw 2 people who came in after me, slip ahead of me in line with no explanation. When I asked why my turn was taking so long, all I was told was that I should have given myself 2 hours for the initial visit. In the hour and a half that I was there, I had a 5 minute consultation and 10 minutes watching a video in a cramped waiting room. I was really frustrated with my whole experience at Lavar Spa H2O as well as how I was treated. I surely will not go back. read more

Worst cleansing treatment! Those employees are pushy, forcing you to get the service. Once you become a regular face, they won't be as nice as before and make you wait before you go into a room (even though you are the only client in that hour). Sadly, I became a victim too. After going to several sessions, I felt horrible. I couldn't have any proper bowel movements for weeks. Lavar Spa is my first experience of Colon Cleansing. I met Iris a beautiful young woman who explained to me exactly what the process will be. I read that women do not speak perfect English. They are Asian, then yes they have an accent, so what ! Me as well, I'm European. But everything was very clear and well explained. I am now on my 6 or 7 sessions. I feel good, I lost 6 ibs, my stress is lower than before. it's funny because the majority of the clomplains come from groupon voucher. You need to know that on a groupon voucher only 40% of the amount goes to the company . One can understand that they prompt you to take further sessions. Such a terrible experience and now out $100. I normally go to Natural Refresh, which is an amazing place. However they were fully booked when I needed to get in so I thought I'd try Lavar Spa thinking it may be a similar process. Little did I know there are two types of Hydrotherapy systems: open and closed. They use an open system at Lavar Spa which is gross in my opinion and makes it very awkward and uncomfortable. In a closed system the water goes in through a tube and you get flushed out through the same tube. In the open system the water goes in and you are supposed to try to poop stuff out around the tube, while it's still up your butt?! I was not able to do this, and asked to use a washroom and then left. They still charged me $100! So upsetting. I will never be back. read more

Do not go there ! i have been there and while the ladies are really nice and professional, the owner, a chinese man called ''Michael'' is a pushy salesman who will stop at nothing to have you use his machine. He pretends that it is safe but i had part of my intestine blown up because of the pressure from his machine, i do not wish that on anyone so please ask your family doctor before you try this therapy as it can be very dangerous, i had to have many surgeries to fix my digestive system after i went to LAVAR SPA and as of today i am still not completely healed. it only takes one mistake from them on the pressure or water temperature and you could be in a hospital bed for 3 months like me. please be very cautious and just avoid this place. on top of that, they pretend to have a naturopath doctor named Sanja Tamburic working there so your health insurance would cover you but it is not true, she has never EVER been an employee there as they all are Chinese, and now i have to pay back Sunlife for 1000 $ for that treatment. you should definitely avoid this place, full of lies and dangerous for your health. You are now aware of this practice and consider this WARNING before you give them a chance to ruin your health !! read more

I found Michael pleasant enough till he told me I had to come back the next day (which I couldn't). Then he became rude and annoyed. Basically I was no longer worth his time. Oh well, maybe I wasn't as I probably won't go back as his attitude was very poor as I was leaving. read more

The 1 star is for the friendly staff. Having one prior experience with colonics, I expected all treatments to be like the first one, I couldn't have been more wrong. Here at Lavar you are left on your own, if you want anything you have to buzz your practitioner. Their focus on the benefits seems to be twisted as your appearance takes precedence over the actual real benefits of colon therapy. I had to buzz a couple of times for my practitioner to tell her how uncomfortable I was. When things started to improve, I was told my session was over, but she would be kind enough to allow me another 10 min's! I couldn't believe this! I got out only after she discussed fecal matter & constipation at the reception area with all staff members and another client... WOW, how unprofessional can one be?! I was so distended upon leaving I weighed over 2 lbs more than arriving. I felt awful upon being at home for awhile, so I phoned to cancel the following appt., told the person how I was and no one talked with me to discuss my situation nor returned my call until almost 2 days later... completely unacceptable. I have since received a credit from the coupon company, but let my experience be a very BIG RED FLAG to you all... treatments here are not what a colonic should be like. Two very BIG thumbs down and I've got mind to contact the health board who regulates this area of healthcare. I recently went for my first session of the hydrotherapy using a voucher I'd bought from a daily deals website. I had read on one of the google reviews from a previous disguntled customer that you should allow two hours for the first appointment, which now seems totally arbitrary in terms of the interaction I actually had with the staff, and the length of time of my treatment. The treatment itself was fine - very easy to use, not unpleasant at all, totally fine. However, it took me over an hour and a half to even get into the room, which meant that I had less than 20 minutes for the treatment itself. I was waiting in the waiting area for at least 3/4 of an hour before they deigned to 'consult' me, which turned out to be a 'test' on why I wanted to have the treatment and what I thought it involved. I was asked questions in the waiting area (thankfully there were no other people there by this time, as all the people who had come in while I'd been waiting had been rushed through to the treatment room). These questions had nothing to do with the treatment itself or how it would apply to me, but about how much weight THEY thought I needed to lose (which was a lot), and seemed more like accusations than questions - none of which would have the remotest impact on the efficacy of the treatment. It was totally bizarre. The manner of the man who I dealt with was extremely unappealing. It seemed like a bit of a set-up, to be honest, and he seemed like a total quack - showing me 'before' and 'after' pictures of himself, just the general tone of his 'consultation' was really, really strange. It was like the receptionist girl was in on the sham, too - showing me her feet where the 'toxins have pooled', and one foot was perfectly smooth and the other was all cracked.. I have no idea what was going on - it was totally bizarre. Once I mentioned a particular health problem I have, it was as though his whole presentation was targeted towards that and instantly this was the solution to all my problems. I have to say the actual treatment itself is totally fine, albeit I would believe my experience was cut significantly short. I felt like I was a bit swindled since I had a pre-paid voucher, so they could basically do what they want. At the end I was offered the year package deal which is in the realm of $1500 - not something I would purchase there and then on the spot after my first treatment. Overall - totally sub-par, bizarre staff, but the treatment was good, in very clean, pleasant surroundings. It's totally private so the person explains what you're going to do, and then you're left to set yourself up and get a sheet to cover yourself with, but the man I was dealing with kept on coming into the room and talking to me throughout the treatment - I wish he had just left me alone!! I felt uncomfortable when I was mid-treatment and he'd come in - not really an ideal time for a conversation when you have something up your a**.. Again, testament to the totally bizarre staff. read more

I bought this as a coupon deal last year, and I was appalled by what happened there. I was left to stick the hose in me by myself, when I have had other treatments where the doctor at least bothered to stay to ensure that it was being done correctly. But the most repugnant thing is what the Lavar spa "doctor" told me during the pre-treatment interview, when he found out that I had MS: He kept saying that my colon was the cause of my disease. "This is why you have MS." He repeated it over and over to the point where it sickened me. He clearly has *no* concept of what Multiple Sclerosis is, and yet he thought he could use that scare tactic to convince me to come back. A true waste of my time and money. went in with a friend, and we were both so turned off by the whole thing from the minute we walked into the place. very nice decor but thats about it....Seemed very unprofessional. If we could leave a ZERO STARS, we would...My wife and I arrived at Lavar after having purchased coupons to use the services offered by the merchant. We were greeted and requested to fill out forms that asked questions about our personal health habits. There was also a disclaimer in which Lavar absolved themselves of any responsibility for our health and any claims about the effectiveness of their services. By this time, we were close to an hour after the appointment time. It was at that point that they attempted to extort an additional "Transaction Fee" from us even though we had already paid the agreed upon amount for the coupons. For us, it would be like going to, say, buy an new appliance or whatever on line, going to pick the item up and then being told that we must pay an additional, up until then, hidden fee before completing the purchase. For us, this is dishonest. It is deceptive. Had Lavar been up front about it, it would then be our choice to buy or not buy. We have two problems with this transaction. Firstly, that there were any additional charges AT ALL and secondly, that they were hidden until the last minute. We will NOT EVER do business with this merchant again because of their deception and dishonesty. We strongly urge anyone considering doing business with this merchant...DO NOT!!! read more

these people just want your money. they dont pay any attention to you while you are there, ive been 2 or 3 times, and once while i was there i was running late for work and they left me in for way longer than they should have because they were busy doing other things, and i tried to ring the buzzer(there is a doorbell light on the wall beside the bed you can press and it lights up to show you need help) and they ignored it for more than 5 minutes! what if i was dying???????? ya no. im not going back here.
