I was invited to a Black Tie wedding here last Sunday night. The outdoor garden lights up at night and there is a big ballroom that will hold up to 300 people Located in Hollywood west of 95 on Sterling Road, there's a parking lot in the back which is valet only. The wedding was beautiful. With over 200 people and it never felt crowded. The ballroom is big and has some amazing lighting. A lot of money put into that lighting, and it shows, it truly was breathtaking and if you're looking for a picture perfect event, this could be your place. There were a couple of things that I had to shake my head at and I know if this was my party, I would have been very upset. I've never been to an event like this where they served drinks in plastic cups, had a nice range of better liquor but didn't have any basic mixers. There was no club soda or tonic water offered and no limes or lemons. The food was your typical catered food. Nothing great, nothing terrible. It was served as a buffet and you were asked to take your plate from the table and carry it outside to be served. This wasn't someone's backyard BBQ, this actually was noted on the invitation as a Black Tie affair. Somehow without fresh plates by the food, this just seems like it breaks buffet etiquette 101, as were the paper cups with the word TIPS located at the end of the buffet, all of the bars and the end of the evening coffee bar. Personally, again, if this was my affair, I would have been mortified. This was a wedding, not a condo or bowling event. Im not against tipping but I'm pretty sure, the brides parents had at least a 20% gratuity added to the bill.

From the moment we began planning for our children's First Communion we had the pleasure to find Lavan Venue and the incredible people that work in unison to make not only the event but the whole planning experience easy and seamless. We originally met Elvis through Broward Catering when looking for food services for our event. Elvis offered comprehensive details about what we would need and patiently walked us through every step of the planning and services we would need to make our event memorable. We contacted Elvis at Broward Catering from the incredible recommendations expressed by our friends who had tasted his work. Our children were active participants in the selection of menu items. The selected cuisine was Haitian black rice, chicken, salmon, and macaroni and cheese. Even our son and his usual pickiness was delighted and cleared every item on his plate. The honest and down to earth qualities reflected by Elvis add to the event planning process an easy and enjoyable. During the selection I was unsure if a fruit bar would be doable but on the day of the event Elvis surprised us with a beautiful fruit table arrangement with our children's names embedded within the design. It was the many special details Elvis included that make Lavan Venue a unique and professional experience above and beyond any event venue I have seen in the past. We were blown away by the beautiful sparkle during the performance and his offering our guests valet parking despite it not being included in our selected package. We would definitely recommend Broward catering and LaVan Venue for any event. It was phenomenal! Thank you, Elvis and Team.

While visiting Miami ,FL with friends , we stopped here for a private event that even though we had to pay a fee for entry , turned out to be a very nice gathering. This catering hall looks immaculate and I'm sure the price tag to host an event here is high one. We had bottle service which was our only option and it made sense. Not sure when I will have a chance to visit this place again but I'll be lookin forward to the next event.

Like many women's clubs in Florida, the Hollywood Women's Club was founded in 1922 during the Florida Land Boom years. In the 1920's women's clubs were formed to give back to the community. They became a way for women to get out of the house and assert their independence. They allowed women to get involved in politics and launched the women's rights movement. The Hollywood Women's Club predated the founding of the city and in 1924 they joined the General Federation of Women's Clubs. The first club members were the wives of officers in the J.W. Young Organization which was the development company building Hollywood. They met in the first clubhouse that was built on land donated by the founder of Hollywood, Joseph W. Young in 1927. Early club projects included donating hundreds of books to the first public library, holding tag sales to pay for health screenings for children, giving migrating farmers assistance with housing and welfare, getting the Miami Telephone Co. to bring the first telephone line to town, and collecting $12,000 during a war bonds drive. Today the club supports literacy programs, funds a youth scholarship, participates in the Hollywood Historical Society, supports the neighborhood crime watch, and provides financial aid to many state charities through the General Federation of Women's Clubs. The original plans for the clubhouse included an ornate Mediterranean Revival style. After the collapse of the land boom due to the Great Depression and several hurricanes the design was scaled back to a more affordable $25,000 Classical Revival style building in 1927. The building was listed as a a local historical landmark in 1985, and added to the National Register of Historic Place in 1995. Between 2012 and 2014 money was raised by the club and added to a grant to prevent the clubhouse from sinking into the sand. Other cosmetic work was also completed on this charming historical building. In 2022 the Hollywood Women's Club celebrated their 100th anniversary. During this time further electrical improvements and upgrades to the kitchen were made. Today the clubhouse is available to be rented for private events. The 1,200 square foot main event room has hardwood floors and a grand piano and can accommodate 60 people. There is also a catering kitchen. Information on how to rent the clubhouse and join and volunteer with this important civic organization can be found on the club website. If there are any upcoming events you can find that information as well. For instance they hold 2 round bingo nights for $10. The next bingo night is May 30th and they serve inexpensive drinks including alcohol and snacks. For over 100 years the women of Hollywood have been coming together to improve their local community as well as the state of Florida. Women's clubs have a legacy of helping their communities and it's nice to see that this one is still going strong today.

I wish I could give this place 10 stars!!!…read more Kat was amazing with the coordination of my mom's party from start to finish! I came across the banquet hall after a google search when I decided to transition from my original idea. I emailed and was able to see the venue the same day. I instantly fell in love! It had the intimate feel that I was looking for. We had to put down $1000 and set up a monthly pay payment plan with the final payment due about 3 weeks before the party. A cash deposit of $500 must be turned in by 48 hours before the party for incidentals but as long as you don't mess up anything, you will get your money back. All of the logistics are detailed in the contract that you must sign to eliminate any confusion or misunderstandings. From start to finish, Kat and I developed the perfect party for my mom. She made sure that we covered every aspect and a few days before we did a final once over for the party. Yesterday was the day of the party and everything ran so smoothly. About a week before, Kat developed a timeline for the party and it was followed to the T. EVERYONE at the party raved about the decor, the food and the venue itself. It is the next day and I am STILL receiving complaints about the hall. Kat and staff - I can't thank you all enough for making my mom's 61st birthday so memorable! You have definitely gained a new loyal customer!

I chose this location because it was ideal since the majority of my family and friends live 15-20 minutes away. In addition, I chose to have my wedding here because this location can accommodate both a wedding ceremony as well as the reception. My wedding coordinator, Kat, was a pleasure to work with and she will try to accommodate your wants and needs. The menu options that were offered were okay. I did not like that we were not able to taste test the food that was paid for and as a result, I was very disappointed in the food that was served at my wedding (embarrassed actually). There is not an option to bring your own food. You are allowed to add food to the menu for an additional fee of $75 per pan. Although you are allowed to provide your own alcohol, you must pay a fee of $150 to do so with the limitation of 10 bottles. I had a total of $85 guests. We spent many months preparing for the design of the reception area. A few days before the wedding, I was notified by Kat that their "design team" did not approve of my design and there were changes made that I did not authorize. In the many months we spent planning, I had never met this "design team". The designs that are offered by the venue are basic, and any additional designs you want to add need to be "approved" by this "design team". I spent hundreds of dollars of my own money to provide additional decorations so that the reception area did not look plain. I booked the limo with La Vie En Rose. On the day of my wedding, I was to be picked up at 4:45pm and dropped off at 5:00pm. Unfortunately, the limo company that they work with had some last-minute changes and a staff member of the banquet hall had to pick me up. I did not get to the wedding until 5:30 which was a problem because they charge $75 for every 15 minutes pass 10:00pm (the end of the reception). With me arriving 30 minutes late, my entire wedding was pushed back, and the whole wedding was rushed. I was upset that I was being rushed since the venue was late picking me up. No one ever offered to give me an additional 30 minutes toward my wedding, even though they were late picking me up. A cash deposit of $500 must be paid 48-hours before the wedding, it will be refunded, if there are no damages made. You must also completely vacate the reception area at 10:00pm sharp. Funnily enough, the Dj will play songs that will get the guests dancing at this time. I had to personally go to the Dj booth at 9:50pm so that he could stop the music because I did not want to be charged an additional $75. One of the groomsmen threw up in the bathroom, and my father cleaned it up. They still charged $75 although we had cleaned up the mess. Last but not least, there was an altercation (nearly a physical fight) between my sister-bridesmaid and their bartending staff. Although I provided and paid for the alcohol to be served, the rude bartender (staffed by the venue) refused to service my sister-bridesmaid. My guests had to break up the altercation that was caused by their bartender. Their bartending staff was also hustling my guests for money, and my guests were coming up to me asking me: "why is hustling me for money". I was very embarrassed, and in the end the bartender was removed, but the damage had already been done. Overall, I would give La vie En Rose a 6/10.
