She continued adding unexpected charges after everything had already been finalized, including a last‑minute bar fee. We were told there would be bartenders and security, yet she ended up acting as both and making extra from the tips at the bar from the guest. She hovered over the entire event like a gargoyle, rushing everything and making guests upset & uncomfortable. My aunts spent two full days cooking and preparing food only to spend about ten minutes inside the venue because of how chaotic and unpleasant the environment became. I would give the owner a -10 and the décor a 2, as many promised elements were missing. Her communication was terrible, and I cannot recommend this venue in good faith to anyone. As a fan of history and architecture, the Hollywood Women's Club certainly caught my eye as I was…read morewalking along the exercise path that runs along the historic Hollywood Beach Golf and Country Club across the street. Like many women's clubs in Florida, the Hollywood Women's Club was founded in 1922 during the Florida Land Boom years. In the 1920's women's clubs were formed to give back to the community. They became a way for women to get out of the house and assert their independence. They allowed women to get involved in politics and launched the women's rights movement. The Hollywood Women's Club predated the founding of the city and in 1924 they joined the General Federation of Women's Clubs. The first club members were the wives of officers in the J.W. Young Organization which was the development company building Hollywood. They met in the first clubhouse that was built on land donated by the founder of Hollywood, Joseph W. Young in 1927. Early club projects included donating hundreds of books to the first public library, holding tag sales to pay for health screenings for children, giving migrating farmers assistance with housing and welfare, getting the Miami Telephone Co. to bring the first telephone line to town, and collecting $12,000 during a war bonds drive. Today the club supports literacy programs, funds a youth scholarship, participates in the Hollywood Historical Society, supports the neighborhood crime watch, and provides financial aid to many state charities through the General Federation of Women's Clubs. The original plans for the clubhouse included an ornate Mediterranean Revival style. After the collapse of the land boom due to the Great Depression and several hurricanes the design was scaled back to a more affordable $25,000 Classical Revival style building in 1927. The building was listed as a a local historical landmark in 1985, and added to the National Register of Historic Place in 1995. Between 2012 and 2014 money was raised by the club and added to a grant to prevent the clubhouse from sinking into the sand. Other cosmetic work was also completed on this charming historical building. In 2022 the Hollywood Women's Club celebrated their 100th anniversary. During this time further electrical improvements and upgrades to the kitchen were made. Today the clubhouse is available to be rented for private events. The 1,200 square foot main event room has hardwood floors and a grand piano and can accommodate 60 people. There is also a catering kitchen. Information on how to rent the clubhouse and join and volunteer with this important civic organization can be found on the club website. If there are any upcoming events you can find that information as well. For instance they hold 2 round bingo nights for $10. The next bingo night is May 30th and they serve inexpensive drinks including alcohol and snacks. For over 100 years the women of Hollywood have been coming together to improve their local community as well as the state of Florida. Women's clubs have a legacy of helping their communities and it's nice to see that this one is still going strong today.

I don't typically leave reviews to criticize businesses, but rather to bring awareness so others can make informed decisions. Unfortunately, our experience had a significant issue that needs to be shared. During the wedding rehearsal on Thursday, the venue was extremely hot. When I asked a staff member about the air conditioning, I was told that nothing was wrong with the system and that it simply hadn't been turned on prior to the rehearsal. We were reassured that everything would be cool and comfortable on the day of the wedding. However, on the actual wedding day, both the ceremony and reception were just as hot--if not worse. There was no effective air conditioning. It became so warm that the bride's cake actually started to melt. The staff attempted to help by setting up a couple of fans, but with over 150 guests in attendance, this was nowhere near sufficient. We brought the issue to the staff's attention again and were told it would be addressed, but unfortunately, nothing changed. Because of this, I feel it's important to share this experience with future couples considering this venue. While it is undeniably beautiful, please book with caution. Your guests may be extremely uncomfortable due to the heat. Given the cost of renting this space, working air conditioning should absolutely be a standard expectation.

Every time I thought I could finally put my license away, there was someone else asking for it. That aside, the actual show in itself was wondrous. The creativity was booming, as was the atmosphere itself, which made having a conversation nearly impossible. It was loud, full of people, and it was a Friday night. Not to mention that with admission you got a free drink. This was clearly popular! I had a Jack and lemonade and it was refreshing. I also tried a Jack with ginger, I believe, and that was just as good (or nearly anyway). I would have stayed longer, but I wanted to chat with company, and besides, we had a dinner reservation elsewhere.

A detailed review depends on how the event promoter organizes it and what's included, so I think 4 stars is about fair. Architecturally, the space is an open warehouse with a steel truss roof and lots of open space. However, this can make for iffy acoustics. Street parking, as with almost any time there's an event in Miami, is a challenge so your best bet coming here is to UberLyftCab. I didn't have to use the bathroom any of the times I went so no comment, but the overall space seemed pretty clean. For my most recent event (the Jack Daniels' one), the art was hip-hop based and besides full paintings there were smaller prints for $25 available. That looked like a great way to start your art collection! The friend I went with and I had dinner plans elsewhere, but there was also a concert happening. As far as comp drinks, there was only one per person and I seem to recall it being more generous in years past. At least my Jack & Ginger was pretty good, with just the right amount of sweet to balance out the whiskey.
