Om Tree was the first studio we tried and we never left. Until I moved away, that is. Since I moved away I have tried four different yoga studios where I am living now and none of them even come close to competing with Om Tree. I haven't been to Om Tree since the summer of 2013 (but have been meaning to write a review since then) but the things I loved about it then were: 1) Amazing teachers. They were all awesome and provided assistance with poses, excellent adjustments, and often used the Sanskrit words for the poses, which I really appreciated. 2) Great music during the classes. This is a big deal to me and one of the things that's disappointing about my current studio is that many of the teachers don't use music at all. 3) Lovely studio. I liked the mirrors so I could check my alignment, the natural light coming in through the windows, the plants, the scent, everything. 4) Great variety of classes and times. 5) Student discount! OmTree was the first place I practiced yoga regularly, and that practice helped me get through my second year of grad school which coincided with planning a wedding with my long-distance fiance. It was exactly what I needed at that time. I think of OmTree often and it's probably one of the top 5 reasons I wish I still lived in Lawrence!

I consider myself an intermediate yogi and this class really gives me a workout. She's always very conscientious to ensure you know of a good modification if you can't quite do a pose and is really great at helping you have correct form so you get the most from the poses. She includes just enough meditation, breath work and mental/spiritual stimulation to ensure that I am calm, centered, in the moment, and able to forget I just spent 8 hours on a computer chair underneath fluorescent lighting... but not so much that I feel like I'm at a new age church. I also really enjoy Yeshe's bellydance class. It's more for movement, fluidity and healing than performance. I always leave here in a great mood! The studio itself has a great environment and look to it. A little on the expensive side ($15 per class or $120 for a 10-class card) but the quality is spot on. Highly recommend!

So lucky that I found this place! I also asked a few friends to tag along and they had a wonderful time. In a week we managed to hit the studio three times and all three times were fantastic, mind-opening experiences. Loving this place and can't wait to visit again next summer.

The studio is equipped with every prop you could think of, including mats, blankets, blocks, straps and metal chairs. My instructor is sweet as can be, and she listens to your individual needs--shifting poses so they'll be more comfortable, or adjusting your pose as you go along. The classes are for an hour and half, perfectly balanced between active and less active poses. I feel so good after class, I recommend yoga for everyone!

My sweetheart - who had very little yoga experience - and I wanted to experience partner yoga so we booked for a private session. Clare showed up on time and was very warm and personable. We were a little nervous going in, but soon were having fun. The instruction was easy to follow and Clare was very patient with us even when we felt discouraged by the more challenging poses. I have some physical limitations and Clare was able to smoothly work with my body. We even got to do some fun acro yoga! I felt very comfortable with Clare and it was a fun, bonding experience for my sweetheart and me. I have training as an educator and I can confidently say that Clare is a stellar instructor - knowledgeable, adaptable, and able to communicate clearly. I would definitely recommend giving Clare a try!

I had been having pain under my shoulder blade up into my neck for six weeks when I finally went to…read moresee Georgia. She asked many questions and then started on the front of my shoulder, rather than the back where it was hurting the most. She then worked on my back and had me do some movements by rotating my shoulder as well. The next day, my pain was still there but had definitely subsided. Over the next few days, it disappeared and has not returned! This was my first experience with bodywork and Rolfing and I am a complete convert. I've never cared for chiropractors as I don't think they do anything for me that my own yoga practice doesn't, but this was a truly unique and remarkable experience. Highly recommend!

However, if you understand that it is very difficult to get out of without moving or proven health issues, then don't expect otherwise. You can sell your membership to someone else, though. All that aside. I really like it. There are good classes, a daycare, a discount at the spa and salon attached to it. The steam room, hot tub, and dry sauna have cooled cloths dipped in essential oils for when you get out. Nice. The equipment is well maintained and there is plenty of it. I recommend it completely.

I have friends and my sister who all said they would join if they were open a little later. Other than the hours, it's an amazing gym! Being female only, I get amazing workouts in, stretching, take yoga, and find myself there for 2-3 hours when I have the time!
