I really believe that there is no other summer program for kids that rivals the acceptance and nurturing nature of the staff and piers I am so grateful to have grown close with. To this day, the friends I made here are close to my heart and always in my thoughts. If you have a child who doesnt quite know what to be a part of or who to confide in or simply have a very creative and outgoing kid, you cannot go wrong with having them be a part of STAR. I joined the staff after becoming to old to enroll and I hope to return for another season someday. I LOVE S.T.A.R!!! ‍‍‍‍‍

I can't believe it has taken me so long to review this great theater. Coincidentally, the first show that my son played in (as Pete Bailey), was the first show the first reviewer had seen at this theater :) When told, "there isn't a bad seat in the playhouse" -- I was skeptical. After my son having roles in 7 shows with SVCT now, I can confirm that there seriously is "not a bad seat in the playhouse" -- I've almost tried them all ;) A great community theater, in a great community -- if you haven't been you should check out www.svct.org, and get tickets to the next show!! :) Also, tons of fabulous restaurants within walking distance - so it makes for a great date night :) Thai restaurant across the street is EXCELLELNT -- very friendly owners, and incredibly good thai food. And, Bubbles Wine Bar across the main road... very nice place as well. Plus, several more great dining opportunities to choose from down the street.

I truly loved it! I was really shocked that this place has not been Yelped yet! This theater is very easy to get too. Right off of Dunne and Monterey Road where there is a huge parking lot and plenty of little restaurants to eat at before hitting up a show at the theater. This theater is definitely a small close knit community which is really nice! The theater is small but not tiny. Our seats were perfect and it was nice being so intimate with a stage and a cast of characters. There were people old and young there enjoying the performance and it was pretty obvious that most of the audience knew someone on stage with the array of flower bouquets to greet their friends with after the show. The sound and lighting was professional and that of a big time theater. The cast was phenomenal in "It's a Wonderful Life" and I applaud (literally) each and every one of them for taking their talents to entertain so many people and bring smiles to so many faces. Such an inspirational show and I teared up a bit. There were cast members in the show as young as 7 who were so cute and did such a great job saying their lines. I didn't see anyone screw up their lines! Hooray for such a great cast!! After the show we were able to mingle with the cast members and talk to my friend's friend Dave (who played Ernie). He encouraged us to come out and audition for a future show which I might consider for fun (like I have sooo much time right? hehe) Who knows...maybe one day I will be on stage under the lights and makeup on in this theater! I encourage you to come out and support local community theater. This is a great theater which is very easy to get to and park and not to mention a really inexpensive date with your loved one. The show was $17 for 2 hours of pure entertainment. They definitely have made me a fan and I plan to become a subscriber so I don't miss one show in 2009!

She is currently in the 5-8 yo hip hop class with Savanna and 5-8 yo ballet class with Janell, and again....she absolutely LOVES it. All the teachers are really nice, welcoming, and skilled, which gives all the students the opportunity to fully enhance and develop with each concentration of dance offered. Studio Three offers tap, hip hop, ballet, lyrical, jazz and ballroom dance for both kids and adults. There are two dance floors and a newly renovated area for the dancers, fully equipped with cubbies for their bags, and an area for dancers to do their homework if they have long days at the studio. My daughter has only been here for a year, but I have to say that she looks forward to dance class every single week. Traci, Studio Three's owner, is such an awesome person....very approachable and very down to earth, and is always looking out for the students' and parents' best interest. Class fees are also very reasonable! Looking forward to many more years with Studio Three!

The playhouse, located in bucolic San Juan Bautista, was sold out. The play lasts about 80 minutes with no intermission. The physical layout was as a theater in the round with 4 tiers of seating surrounding the raised center stage. However much of the action was all throughout the theater. While primarily in Spanish, there was a sprinkling of English to assist the non-Spanish-speakers in understanding the plot. The leading actors were female with Luzbel being striking in her costume, acting and singing. As was San Michael the Archangel. Speaking of singing, there was a lot of it and it sounded good. The symbolism was well scripted and enjoyable to behold. One part of the play that brought a smile to my face with memories was the use of a Pachuco and zooters from Luis's "Zoot Suit". A live trio provided great accompaniment to the play, never being too loud. This is a Christmas play that has seen many adaptations here, as well as around the Latino community, It is a biannual production for ETC, alternating with "La Virgen del Tepeyac", so you'll want to catch it before it closes on 21DEC25. From ETC's website: https://elteatrocampesino.com/lapastorela/ Pastorelas, or Shepherds Plays, originated in medieval Europe as religious dramas and were later brought to the "new world" and Alta California by the Spanish missionaries. "La Pastorela" recreates the long trek of those first pastores to the holy site of the Nativity. The Lucifer character or Luzbel and his demons attempt to thwart the shepherds from reaching Bethlehem and the Holy Manger. However, in a dynamic clash of good against evil, San Miguel, the Archangel, and an army of angels overpower the demonic powers of Luzbel and the shepherds are at last free to complete their journey. An adaptation of "La Pastorela" based on a traditional version from San Luis Potosi in Mexico was originally created in 1975 by Luis Valdez and premiered first as a puppet show. The original script was provided by Longina Montoya of Hollister, CA. The play was later transformed into a street theater spectacle from 1977-79 before settling as a play performed inside Mission San Juan Bautista. In 1991, it was adapted into a film starring Linda Ronstadt and Cheech Marin, becoming El Teatro Campesino's first feature length film, and in 2019 "La Pastorela" was performed inside the ETC Playhouse for the first time. "La Pastorela" has been performed in San Juan Bautista biannually during the holiday season, alternating with "La Virgen del Tepeyac" - making these holiday productions ETC's longest running tradition.

This might be the only Chicano owned theatre company left in America. The playhouse is inside and old packing house and has that historic aura that takes you back to the Chicano theater days of the 1960s. There is now a historical timeline in the rear of the building that highlights all of the work they have done up to 2016. We went to see the play about Carlota and the actors were amazing!
