We will probably be switching to a regular doctor soon because my son is aging out of pediatric care. We've been with Laurelwood since his birth and he is now 16. Over the years, I have had up and down experiences with Laurelwood. Here are my pros and cons: PROS: Friendly staff Great nurses Docs come highly recommended CONS: Our doctor is lovely but I feel like she's given me very limited options over the years to treat my sons autism and severe ADHD. Talking to other mothers, I felt like there were other options but when I brought them up, she always suggested staying the route. She referred us to a psychiatrist once but that was not a good experience. I once asked her if we could consult with another doctor in the practice because I had seen several articles he and others had written about his expertise with autistic kids. She took offense to my question and said she was the "autism expert" at Laurelwood. I did not like that and considered it to be very unprofessional. If your child is well and has no disabilities, I could see why you think this practice is perfect. However, if your child is sick on a regular basis or has disabilities, I would suggest finding a pediatrician who is open to trying everything possible to help your child. read more

I heart Laurelwood Pediatrics. My kids go to Dr. Miller and she is awesome. Very good with children, and super helpful to worried moms and dads. I've also seen Dr. Yanivshevski and Dr. Hanson when I've been in for sick kids clinic in the early mornings. Both are fantastic. Everyone is very friendly and patients do not experience long wait times here. There is a separate well child waiting room for those just there for check-ups and a great little playground outside. read more

The staff has always been friendly and very helpful. When it's time to make an appointment either over the phone or in person the staff always make it a easy process to complete. I think one of my favorite things is that if it's after hours and you need information regarding your little one you can phone in for a callback from the nurse. Once the nurse get the information that's needed you would receive a call back to be able to make a decision to either care for your child at home or if it's a dire straits situation to do immediate visit to your local hospital. Personally I have had to make a call to the nurse and the advice that was given was extremely helpful for me and I was able to give the medication needed to my little one. When speaking about the staff there are people that just do a job but you can tell that the staff here really do care and they do make sure that you get the media tension that you desire and at the end of the day that is what truly matters with the care of these little babies. The atmosphere is great, front desk staff are helpful and pleasant, and I love the well room that we can sit in when we are there for check-ups. We see Dr. Hanson for my 1-year-old. We have loved having him as primary care for our son. He is so attentive and never makes me feel rushed. In those early months he always told me that I was doing a good job- which is so vital to hear as a new mom! He is always gentle and kind and we love seeing him. We also love Dr. Joel in a pinch where we can't see Hanson. The only negative experience we have had has been with Dr. Miller. I know a lot of people see her and love her doctoring style, but it definitely does not work for our family. The first time we saw her, I tried to explain that my son was in a lot of pain at nighttime and waking up frequently. She told me that he just needed "tough love" and to let him cry. I eventually figured out on my own that it was constipation- but it's frustrating to tell a doctor that your child is in pain and feel ignored. She is also not as gentle as the other doctors and every time we have seen her my son has cried in discomfort when she checks his ears, which never happens with the other doctors. But I think some people like her "no-nonsense" vibe and she seems to work for some families, but is just too harsh for my taste. read more

I had my first baby in June and Dr. Miller made the rounds in the hospital and came and met with us. She is so nice easy to talk to and takes time with you listens to all your questions and does not rush you at all. I have been taking my baby here since and it's just great the staff are really nice and I have called to talk to the nurse at least 20 times since I am a new mom they also take time with you and don't make you feel stupid at all. I would highly suggest this group, when I have had to see other doctors because the baby got sick on the weekends of course they have all been great as well...but Dr. Miller is the best read more

My two lil ones see Dr. Miller and I could not be any happier. The wait time is not long. Usually after checking in, it is around 10 mins. They even have a nice, clean waiting area with a TV. The visit is short and efficient. She's really good at what she does. She uses an iPad to enter in everything and send the prescription(s) off to the pharmacy. This doctors office came highly recommended when we moved here a year ago, so we tried it, despite the fact that it is 30 minutes away. They have four pediatricians and relatively late hours, so it's pretty easy to get an appointment. The doctors are fine. We've seen Dr. Siegel and Dr. Lana so far. Only complaint there is Dr. Lana spends a really long time cooing over how cute the baby is, pretty much ignoring the preschooler and wasting time when she already took a long time to come to the exam room. The place looks bright and cheery. Now the reason for my low review: despite using the separate "well room" and not letting my kids touch anything in the main lobby, they've both gotten sick after appointments almost every time. There are books in the exam rooms, which are certainly good for keeping kids occupied during long waits, but there is no way to keep them clean. I doubt they wipe down the chairs in the exam rooms often enough either. I plan on finding a new pediatrics office closer to home. read more

In 2009, our insurance changed and we were no longer able to see our much-loved pediatrician. After doing a lot of research, we decided to see Dr. Ashley Miller based on the recommendation of a family friend. My husband and I have been so pleased with our choice. Dr. Miller is approachable, laid-back, pro-active, and a wonderful physician. She listens to concerns without judgement and really puts parents at ease. She's the perfect blend of educator, expert, and friend. Thankfully, our children are not sick often. When they are, we are greeted in a friendly manner by the office staff and are always able to make a last minute appointment with one of the other qualified, caring physicians. We have seen Dr. Lana and Dr. Hansen when we've needed someone in a pinch and have been very impressed. Dr. Lana is loving and great for that nervous, scared child. Dr. Hansen is calm, efficient, and experienced. We love Laurelwood and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a pediatrician. read more

The doctors are amazing and go above and beyond for their patients. I would highly recommend any dr at Laurelwood, they truly care and will spend the time needed to ensure all your questions are answered! They are also one of the most thorough doctor offices I've been to any problem you have they will do and take the steps necessary to ensure they get to the bottom of the issue at hand with the children. They know a lot of their patients by name I noticed when in the office and nothing makes you feel better than a dr remembering your child's first name out of ALL the children they are seeing daily, weekly, yearly. read more

I was an advocate for Laurelwood, even driving 30 minutes each way to go there. Drs were good and I felt like the care was great. It was REALLY hard to get an appt with our specific ped - he stayed booked up and we often had to resort to seeing someone else. You're telling me you don't have a 4-month well-baby check up until my baby is 6 months old? Kinda defeats the point of having a 4-month check right? However, the check-in desk staff was never my favorite. The final straw was when I got stuck in traffic on the way to a scheduled appt, called to let them know, arrived to the appt 20 minutes late and they told me the doctors were gone and I'd have to reschedule. I was choosing to drive half an hour and then almost another half hour in traffic, so to be told to leave without being seen was absurd. I transferred all 4 of my children to a different group that was closer and we've been happy. read more

Really good doctors office. We see Dr. Miller. This office is always very very clean. They have a room for sick kids and well kids separated. Each room has a mirror and kids books to keep them busy while waiting for the doctor which is usually never a long time. Also my daughter does not like doctors and they take their time with her and try to make her comfortable. One doctor even let her use their ipad to watch thomas the tank engine to keep her distracted. If your new to area and want to good doctor we love this place. read more

They consistently have issues with my kids prescriptions! Today, again found out they had not called in prescriptions they said they had.... after waiting for them to call them in again, picked up meds at pharmacy found that the dose they sent was 1/4 of the dose that she's been taking for years! Only take your children here if they are well. If they ever get sick go to someone who will listen and care. I was taking my daughter back in forth for 2 years for symptoms of we now were related to 4 different Auto Immune disorders. She started experiencing a flare up, we were told 3 times in one week it was probably allergies and it would clear up. I asked if we could see another doctor in the practice, maybe they would have experience or a history in seeing a patient like my daughter. I was immediately denied, I was specifically told "No we don't do that." She ended up loosing 5 pounds in one week, Dr. Seigel looked at me straight face and said "well its because she's not eating, maybe stop at the front desk and see if we have pediasure, (she was 17) or Popsicles you can try popsicles." 2 days later we were at LeBohneur were we stayed for 7 days for treatment. The main reason I took her to the ER is because her DERMATOLOGIST who we had only seen twice in her life said "this child is sick, and this has nothing to do with allergies." vs the pediatrician we had seen for 10 years telling me to feed her popsicles. read more

We truly have enjoyed our experience at Laurelwood Pediatrics. We switched here after going to another pediatric office in the area that was terrible. One of the biggest bonuses of Laurelwood is that they have the timeframe in the morning in which you can bring your sick child in with no appointment necessary to see one of the rotating physicians. I can't tell you how many times this has come in handy. So much better than having to wait on setting an appointment when you want answers quickly. Truly a time saver. We have seen all of the doctors there. Our pediatrician for our daughter is Dr. Magdovitz. We love her. She takes her time and you don't feel rushed at all. You can tell she is knowledgeable and really enjoys her job. We actually selected her after coming in one morning when she was on rotation during a time we had to bring in our son. Our pediatrician for our son is Dr. Lana but we were so impressed with seeing Dr. Magdovitz once that we selected her as our primary pediatrician when our daughter was born. She is top notch and I hope she never leaves. read more

Overall, we have been very pleased with our experience at Laurelwood. We have seen all the doctors and while I prefer not to see two of them, it is very much a personal preference and would not hesitate to use them if we were not able to see our regular doctor. The doctors and nurses are all very patient and nurturing. No question is too dumb to ask...believe me, I have asked my fair share! Prescriptions are sent to your pharmacy electronically, so by the time you get out of the office and make it the pharmacy, medicine is ready. So important when you have a sick, fussy kiddo! The office staff could be friendlier and are not cognizant that when you have a sick child or are a new mom, it is not always easy to sign in, be told to wait so they can get your co-pay (and wait, then wait some more), only to be called when you finally do decide to sit down with your baby, then have to fill out paperwork- the same paperwork you have filled out every single time you have walked in the office. This is the only doctor's office I go to that makes me do this, so I am not sure why it is necessary, especially when I am trying to keep a sick baby calm. There are separate well and sick child areas, but the exam rooms are open to all. The office and exam rooms could use some updating (especially the waiting room carpet- yuck!) and there have been occasions when I wondered if the exam room we were in had been cleaned/disinfected recently. Ultimately, though, the doctors have been patient and helpful with my child. Staff training and cleaning should be made a priority, but the doctors and nurses do a good job. read more

This pediatrics group was recommended to us by our OBGYN due to our location. We started seeing Dr. Miller because of the great reviews we read, however we ended up switching pediatric groups and here's why: Pros: -friendly office staff, but slow on getting you shot records if you request them -nice and colorful facility with a big fish tank in the sick child waiting area to occupy the kids -separate rooms for sick and well children Cons: -a couple short months after birth, our son began having terrible stomach pains and spitting up constantly (so much so that we compared it to a fountain). We knew these stomach induced screaming fits and constant spitting up was not normal and brought him in to see Dr.Miller countless times in hopes of some help and answers. The only thing she gave us was this prescription liquid for acid reflux that tasted and smelled so bad that our son gagged and refused to swallow it. We even had the pharmacy flavor it and it was still awful. After the countless times of taking him there and getting no answers and no help, we felt defeated. We would go there and waste our time, money, and worst of all our child didn't feel any better. I was made to feel like I was a hypochondriac mother or something. We brought him in yet again for his 4 month checkup and were told that he had dropped down to an extremely low weight percentile, and she suggested we switch him to formula so we did. She never told us to bring him back in for a follow up or anything to check to see if his weight went back up, despite this being such a serious problem that it could have lead to stunting his growth. This was our first red flag. -during this terrible phase and for the majority of all these appointments, we would be left to wait anywhere from 15 to 40 minutes in the room with our screaming infant until the doctor would finally come in. She would rush in, apologize and say something about some kids just needing extra love and care (which apparently ours wasn't one of them), look him over super quickly, say he looked fine, and rush back out. The exams were always rushed and never seemed to be as thorough as they should be. -eventually our son outgrew whatever it was that was causing these problems, but shortly after, he began to have symptoms consistent with an ear infection for weeks at a time (congestion, runny nose, pulling at his ears, and a very slight fever sometimes). We took him in once again only to be told he was fine and that there was nothing wrong with him and to just keep on giving him Tylenol, vapor rub, and saline spray like we had already been doing. We knew something wasn't right so we decided it was time to take him to another pediatrics group for a second opinion, and lo and behold, he had a bad ear infection. We have not been back to Laurelwood since. read more

For 3 years we have had another pediatrician do to insurance and it was a nightmare, Laurelwood Pediatrics came highly recommended and we know why they actually care and have concern. Dr. Siegel, is awesome one visit and we have been set up with several specialist to try and solve our daughters issues. Dr. Siegel calls and checks on progress showing real concern and reassures us we will solve this issue. I cannot thank him and Laurelwood its so rare now days to have such care and concern. I moved to memphis devistated to leave the pediatric office my 3 children go to and I had been going to since I was a child. I found LaurenWood on Yelp and it was only a few miles from my house. I've been 2 times now and i LOVE it. Dr. Miller is amazing, and the staff is so friendly. I had to do a same day appointment and they got me right in for a well visit! Its very clean and my son (3) actually enjoys going to see all the colors and playground they have outside. Even though he never really gets to play because I haven't had to wait longer than 5 minutes! If i could rate this place 10 starts out of 5 i would! read more
