I don't know why this impressed me so much but it just seems so much easier to press the shoes closed than to lace them up and knot them. They don't need to be tight; in fact a tiny bit loose works better. Anyway, this place has all your bowling type needs covered: 50 some lanes with baby bumpers available, arcade, snack bar, billiards, full bar, vending machines, fancy light balls for that special occasion, yada yada yada. Laurel Lanes is like love. Wonderful New Jersey love. (And New Jersey is pretty gross, so this is saying a lot) This bowling alley is the site of many a fund-raiser, birthday party, and local performance. It is unassuming, friendly, clean, and FUN. It was here that in my oh-so-distant formative days as a teen (just 5 yrs ago, folks) that birthday parties at the Lanes was something to get excited about. It was the location of a Girl Scout lock-in, where girls bowled backwards and ran wild for an entire night. You do not know joy until you've been locked up with a bowling alley and its disco lights all to yourself. It was the place I sat outside of waiting for a first (and last) date with a dude ten yrs older than I. A bunch of fellow students in a band performed here a few times too. I'm not a huge fan of this place. It's just convenient to visit since I've lived down the street for the past 9 years. The staff has always been a bit rude. In fact after my first visit, I stopped going for years. As another post said its a clicky members only type of place. I tried again last night, and they were rude, short, and not attentive. They were very busy and told us we would have a 30 minute wait. An hour later I walked up and asked if "we've been called or what's taking so long as they're were a bunch of available lanes. Did they forget about us?" The women was seating everyone who came in. She responded "I'm not sure, I don't know, maybe, but there's open lanes". They finally seated us. List goes on. She was supposed to ask us if we wanted to join a league or we get a free game. She didn't. The rule is, then we get a free game. She marked it off on the sheet with a pen. So during check out, we explained that we were never offered to join the league and asked for a free game during the next visit. In fact, we were very interested and just purchased shoes there. She had an nasty attitude and said "you can ask my manager". He walked over and says "what's wrong". She responds "I don't know, apparently I didn't ask them if they wanted to join a league" My initial thought was, it wasn't about the "free game". Who cares. It was the concept, the principal, about quality and consistency that I never experience there. I didn't say anything, thanked them, and got my free game which I'll never return to play. My family has been going here for a long time, they have a really great deal where you get 2 hours of bowling, a pizza and unlimited soda. My family tries to go at least once a week! I love this place. Yes, it's bustling and full of energy, like Matt A. says, but it's never too crowded to get a lane. That's crucial in the world of bowling alley madness. Trust me. The lanes are decently maintained. They could use a bit more attention for the hardcore bowlers (like me?). I never have trouble finding a house ball that I like, because the alley is well-stocked. There is also an attached bar, Brewster's Pub, which on it's own is a place worth visiting. Its physical connection to such a fun bowling alley makes the whole bowling complex a fun spot. This is also a great place for families with children, or serious bowlers, or nightlifers seeking a change of pace. Be warned: Saturday nights are disco bowling. Loud music and dim lights. It's fun, and I like it, but some don't. My enthusiasm for this place is particularly loud because the staff is always so friendly and attentive. One of - if not the - largest bowling alleys I've ever been in! The lanes were in prestine condition. The place was super clean. There were a plethera of balls to choose from. The game and shoe rental costs were decent. The staff were your typical bowling alley staff. The full-sized bar - complete with billiard tables and separate from the bowling area, allowing you to keep your kids clear of it - was AWESOME to have at our disposal...but they charge NYC prices for the booze and food. While that's nothing a little (or a lot ;-) of pre-game action can't fix, it is the only thing keeping me from giving a 5-star rating. Really enjoy this bowling alley. We usually come annually for a friends' birthday or just for fun on Saturdays. I love the music they play here! Some may disagree, but it's mostly mainstream, 90s-2000s hits. Hey, as long as I can dance and sing along, I'm having a good time! They have a special that starts at 10pm on Saturdays. It's 3 hours of unlimited game and shoe rental for almost $20. There might be cheaper bowling alleys, but for standard bowling, and good music, this will do. Playdrome might look nicer but prices are steep on Saturday nights. We always have a great time and sometimes they have contests to win pizzas, bowling games, or drinks. I love this place! There's plenty of entertainment including pool tables and a decent sized arcade, as well as over 60 well maintained lanes. Laurel is also staffed with very friendly and knowlegeable employees. Besides the family-friendly atmosphere for kids of all ages, Laurel is a great place for adult league bowling. I was apprehensive about joining an adult league because I am fairly new at the game, but Laurel Lanes hosts a variety of nightly leagues ranging from two person highly competitive to 4 person adult mixed average leagues. It is fun for everyone, so head on over to Laurel Lanes for a few leisurly games of bowling or pool or just to hang out for a few drink specials during the Phillies/Eagles/Flyers games. I've only lived in the Philly area for 2 years and had been visiting before my move for another year and a half. I joined a league on Laurel Lanes which bowled later in the evening on a weeknight. The place is huge, offering a pub, snacks, pool tables, a gaming room and I think 60 lanes. I'm going to base my review on the overall experience of bowling at Laurel Lanes for two years. Regardless of the very friendly staff, (Laura in particular is a REAL GEM) the lanes are lacking. We occasionally had to move lanes because of a breakdown and the overall conditions of the lanes really sucked. I never saw them clean the lanes and my ball always came back hideously dirty after every toss. I'm not sure what they do but we have to be one of the last leagues to bowl for the day and we still get tons of oil on our balls (get your mind out of the gutter!). So how much oil are they putting on the lanes if we're still getting it back at 11PM? Here's the reason for my 2-star rating; If you're a league, don't ever consider leaving Laurel Lanes. The moment you do, the friendly atmosphere becomes anything but. Again, I have to admit that Laura took the high road and continued to serve us in a very friendly manner but it seemed like the rest of the staff has alienated our league. I know that the communications between our leadership and the management at LL became heated at times but negotiating a new contract means that you have to be willing to negotiate, not bully the other side. I'll miss Laura. Did I mention she's a really nice, sweet person who really takes care of the customers? Otherwise, I think our league will be happier elsewhere. read more

Had a party here and everyone was so miserable! Considering they handle many birthday parties for kids every weekend you would think they would want to help you and make it a happy experience... nope! My pizza didn't come out until half of my party left and the lady told me the only thing she could do was offer an apology!!! Apparently they didn't make enough dough for the day?!? The Mrs. and I are both bowling fans and fortunately enough, so are our friends. We've driven by this place for quite a while always saying the ubiquitous, "we should go there some time" but never actually going.. that is until recently. For those of you who have ever been to the down home 'local' alley, you'll get it and appreciate it. Massive amounts of lanes lining one wall (we were actually in lane 64 which I believe is the last lane) with backdrops of an arcade, game room and Tony Luke's. Their website lists plenty of deals, so look for days that offer what you're looking for based on drink specials, bowling specials, etc. Bowling after 9pm until closing is usually greatly discounted for all of those night owls. I was a little unsure about availability because it appeared to be a bowling league night (despite listing it on the website for Tuesdays and Thursdays) even though this was a Monday night. Not a problem, plenty of aisle at the other end (opposite of Tony Luke's). Overall it was a great night and we were able to get a few brews from a server throughout ($2.50 PBR for those able to swallow their craft-beer pride). Our lane, as well as our neighbor's broke down in the beginning of the second game but a friendly staff person helped by resetting the game, turning it off then turning it on until it was finally fixed. For our inconvenience, we all received a voucher for a free game, which we used to help cut the bill in half ($4.50per person/game this night). I hear that they have cosmic bowling too, but not this night. Perhaps another. It was definitely a fun time and another alley to add to the bowling repertoire. read more

Although I reside in Brooklyn, I never care to drive the nearly two hours it takes to get to this part of Jersey from where we live just to go to dinner in Cherry Hill, followed by bowling at Laurel Lanes. The ambience in this place is always great! The music is fun, the people are friendly and chill. No one time have I ever encountered an argument or some time of drama by people drinking and then not knowing how to carry themselves or any of that sort of non-sense. The staff here is great! Always providing service with a smile and cosmic nights are always the best!!! I love the neon and black lights with the current music. There are a ton of lanes, all is well maintained and a must if you enjoy bowling and having a great time with family or friends! I definitely recommend it to everyone! read more

Love it here. Lots of great memories with more in the making. Service is key when it comes to going out and having a good time. I get nothing but the best when I come here. From bartenders, waitresses, bowling service, and even the security guards have the right attitude. Im not a professional bowler so I can't comment on lanes and oils, but whenever I come it's always clean. This establishment has yet to fail me in a sanitary way. Upon arriving, we were told an hour wait time. We headed over to the bar and grill to have some drinks and food before bowling. The bartender told us angrily that we would have to wait 20 minutes before he would have time to take our drink order. We had a long wait for our lane anyways so we had no problem with this. He eventually came around to take our order. We received our drinks the same time our lane was ready, it took a full hour. After getting the text our lane was ready, we headed out. The server screamed at us to finish our drinks before heading out. We apologized saying we didn't know and had just got them and were forced to chug them. He then yelled at us again to pay with him because he could not transfer our tab, which we did and apologized again. We asked him to send our food to our lane when it was ready. When we got to our lane, the waitress at the lane said the bartender had told her we already got our food (this is 2 minutes after he agreed to have our food sent to the lane). The manager came over and refunded us the food saying we allegedly didn't get it, basically siding with the bartender without ever hearing our side. I told him this could all be solved if he sends our food over here we don't even want our money back and he again spoke to us in a disrespectful tone and waked away in the middle of my sentence. We all left feeling disrespected. Usually have a great time, but the staff was terrible and the manager did nothing about it. Been a server for four years and have never left a bad review about a staff member but his behavior was not acceptable. Pricing was good and lane waitress was great. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I went here tonight with a few friends and they refused us food service and said they were "closed" but then had "last calls" for food after we asked for it. We said something and the worker said "sorry I was closed I didn't know the kitchen wasn't".... how are we supposed to order then? Are we supposed to go in the kitchen? Also, we weren't offered a deal and ended up spending more than $75 just for 3 games and when we brought up the deal to them they said we'd have to pay for what we already paid for and then the deal on top of it. I come here with my family whenever we're all home for the holidays. The 10:30 deal (15.99/person for 3 hours and shoes) is great for the older crowd. If you get in early and want to wait there's video games, pool tables, and a bar to pass the time. Servers have always been nice and if I get a drink that isn't made well there's never a problem getting it remade, just be friendly, the staff there has always been friendly and responsive to us. read more

I love this bowling alley! My family goes there a lot and enjoy it soooo much! There are options to choose whether u want bumpers or not, and you can play around with the pictures and play games on the touchscreen or in the arcade. The food is great and I think you don't have to get anything extra, but they give you 2 slips of paper, one saying that you get 1 whole free pizza and another saying you get 1 free bottomless drink. We were there today oh, we made it clear when we checked in that we wanted to get food as we bowled oh, we were told that somebody would be down to take out order, after 40 minutes or so my daughter got impatient and used the intercom to ask if somebody was coming down, we were told somebody was coming down to take our order, in the meantime we could see a male waitperson serving a table three or four times three tables over, we waited and saw him look at us and he never came down, my daughter again got impatient and went to the food bar to ask if she could purchase food, she was told to go back to our lane and wait, finnaly a girl did come down , she went straight to the couple that had got there 10 minutes earlier after we have been there over an hour and took their order,she then took the order of the couple on the other side of us who had just got there because the male got in her way and just started ordering, we sit still not had not even been asked, we left after an hour and a half this is our first and last visit ever read more

I attended a birthday party here recently. Walking in it was big and didn't seem to bad. They directed us to the party room which was dark and very musty feeling. The party host was very rough around the edges and was not to polite. The workers did not seem to care about any concerns parents were having nor were they very friendly and patient with the kids. For crying out loud its a party of screaming 6,7 & 8 year olds. The bowling was fun and pretty nice but the arcade and party room was a waste of money. Would not recommend having a party here unless you just walk in and bowl. Customer service is key and this place had none. read more

I have never been treated as poorly as I was last night. I have been going there for a couple of months at least once a week. Last night i got carded just like i always do, no problem, but this time they took my ID to the back and 15 minuets later they came back and asked for a second form of ID. When i asked why what is wrong with my ID they would not give me a straight answer told me it scanned just fine but it was at her discretion if she wanted to serve me or not. Now mind you i am 23 years old and have never been treated this way. When we asked to see the manager he refused to even look at my ID and kept giving different different reasons as to why. Then refused to serve my friends as well. I am discussed as to how we were treated there last night and refuse to go back! They are rude and disrespectful to myself and my friends!
