Beautiful area. It worked out perfectly for the wedding and we couldn't have been happier.

They were extremely strict on what/how much you could have. Not a terribly lot of food and once the last table was called to eat, the staff immediately closed the doors to the food area. There seemed to be an abundance of food left but shut er down. Wonder what they did with all the left overs Anyway. I personally had just enough as I prefer to drink my calories but most at my table were still hungry.

Ruined Our Wedding!!…read more My wife and I got married on September 28, 2024, and we wish we had taken our money elsewhere. Russ will sweet talk you into choosing this place. Yes, it's nice and can be breathtaking, but the problem lies within the customer service on the day of the wedding. We had family and friends come from out of town to attend our wedding, some of whom had never been to Kansas City before, which made us feel very special. The night before the wedding, Russ called and informed my wife that we were over our guest list limit and needed to make an additional list of the people we really wanted to attend. My wife was up all night crying out of frustration because this was very last minute, and some people were going to be upset. The wedding day was a horrible experience! First, Russ's assistant (whose name I can't remember) was the worst! She's black. I believe she's racist against her own kind. She stirred up trouble the whole time, accusing the wedding party of smoking weed on the property. Keep in mind, weed is 100% legal, and if someone smoked it before arriving, it's their business. Second, there were no lights in the groomsmen's section due to a storm prior. When we asked if we could get a light to shave or whatever, Russ's assistant was very rude and even got mouthy with my groomsman, who showed her nothing but respect by saying "Ma'am" and "Please." Even after she was done chewing out my groomsmen over the light, she walked away, then turned back to finish chewing us out, informing us that certain things "were not her job." Her attitude eventually rubbed off on Russ, and he started talking to me like I was just a thug off the street, despite the fact that I had paid over $10k for this venue. Third, they started trying to do crowd control with our guest list by refusing to let our family and friends in. Some had traveled from out of state and could not get in because Russ's assistant didn't use the list we stayed up all night creating. Instead, she passed the list to our daughter (who doesn't work for the company and wasn't present) to retype, which resulted in a number of people being removed. They let all the older people in (50+) and told anyone who looked young that they weren't on the list, even though they were. Then there were the pictures. It took about 45 minutes to get the lights working outside for our pictures. Because they didn't let our younger family members in, a lot of older people had left before the reception even began, leaving us with a semi-empty room. My only wedding! My lifetime memory ruined by poor customer service and micromanagement. DO NOT USE THEM!! PLEASE GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!

We were thrilled with the availability of items we could use to decorate for the wedding and the event turned out beautifully. This is a beautiful site for any special event. Since then, she has stopped responding completely and my mother has been waiting to host a "pending cancellation" date for my father's celebration of life for over 3 weeks now. My father passed away from cancer, and Alex said she's not going to pressure the bride of the cancelled wedding bc she was recently diagnosed with cancer. I can fully respect that, however we only need the venue bc of the same reason, except it was a cancer death. I'm very disappointed with Alex's lack of professionalism, communication and overall her inability to manage multiple clients at once. In my honest opinion, having planned many events in my life, she cares more about the additional money a wedding would bring in, than actually providing fair and equitable customer service to her clients. Very disappointed. House venue is also smalls, old, outdated and very choppy small rooms. Outdoor venue is beautiful, but only in decent weather.

The DeLeon's were absolutely attentive to myself, my groom, our guests and our schedule for the entirety of our big night. They recommended their favorite officiant (Pastor Williams) and caterer (Katie's Catering) since they know them so well and they are familiar with how things work and you can't ask for much more than that when it comes to having an amazing team on your side working together to create the perfect night to remember. This lovely couple-run event space works hard to ensure they are in tune with your needs and even worked within our budget in a way no other venue has ever attempted to do. These people truly care about your experience even more than themselves and will go the extra mile to make sure it's everything you wanted it to be and more. They were with me every step of the way in terms of arranging meetings and planning the event - even to coordinating with the vendors so it takes a whole load of stress off the soon to be newly-weds. I even recall having a few short panic attacks to the months leading up to the day of the wedding and they phoned me to psyche me up and pep talk me out of my haze. If any of my friends are looking for a stunning wedding space (WITH THE RECEPTION ON SITE!!! A huge rarity these days!) I will always recommend this place to the moon and back.

I pulled up to The DeLeon..before I got out of my car I called my fiancé and told him that I hadn't looked at the venue yet but I know this is THE ONE This brick building was a beauty. I've never seen a place so beautiful in my life. Jodie greeted me at the door for a tour and she was just as beautiful as her venue. As I looked around in every room with Every step I took I fell more and more in love with this place. The colors and all the decor the venue had were so me! I booked another tour the following week so my fiancé can have a look...We took the tour with Eric. Eric is a blast and his personality lights up the room. He's the type of person you can talk to for hours yet it feels like minutes. Good guy! My fiancé was so quiet I couldn't tell if he liked the venue I was getting worried. when the tour was complete and we were in the parking lot he looked at me and said this is the one I was beyond excited and it was time to start planning. I've never been married before and I felt so overwhelmed. Jodie and Eric were always available by phone, text, or email and I can honestly say without their help I couldn't have done this all. They directed me to the caterer, DJ Mike with Fernando productions, the photographer Jared Cook with JC photography, the florists, etc. I got the best of the best! Jodie and Eric helped with me the colors, the lighting, and table decor. Not one detail was missed and I seen it all come together on our wedding day of 2/22. I was blown away seeing all the final touches Jodie and Eric did. Candles were lit, rose petals were down, music filled the air and they did it with smiles on their faces and were ready to make my day one to remember. This place felt so alive and magical. They treated me like family. I felt so comfortable. I wish I can do it all over again and I wouldn't change a thing. Jodie and Eric was with us step by step. They directed us the whole way through. My hubby and I got lost a moment when we were cutting the cake and all we had to do was look at Eric and we were back on track.I had one of the hardest dresses to bustle and both Jodie and Eric jumped in and got it figured out together. They love what they do and they do it flawlessly. And ladies make sure to tell your guests that the centerpieces aren't available for take home..my mother thought they were and had her eye on a gold glitter tree. I was so embarrassed she ran off with it but it turned out to be one of the best highlights of the night. Eric had a good time teasing me about it and a hilliarious video surfaced on social media that has me laughing to this day still. Those are the types of memories I have booking my wedding with Jodie and Eric @ The DeLeon. I'm confident No other venue will compare. Thank you sooo much Jodie and Eric DeLeon. Tears filled my eyes typing that you made the most important day in my life one to remember and cherish forever

We looked at over a dozen venues in the Kansas City area and just knew from the moment we walked in that this was THE space. It is truly a Kansas City gem with wood flooring, high beams with Edison bulbs, brick walls, and beautiful staircases. A huge standout for us was they only have one event per weekend, so we had the space from Friday (when we moved all of our necessities in) to 4:00 on Sunday ( when we moved back out). The wedding party truly enjoyed preparing with hair, make-up, and wardrobe on the gorgeous third floor, the cocktail hour was on the first level, and dinner and dance were on the second level. Everything was perfect. When you book the Oliver, you get the peace of mind of the owner Steve and the event coordinator Caitlin. We met with Caitlin on multiple occasions and she was amazing. They have a great bartending staff, parking attendants, and security guards, and a great working rapport with many local vendors. If I had to touch on any drawbacks, it would just be the gravel parking lots, which can be a bit of a challenge with ladies in heels or elderly persons. We were a little concerned with it being haunted house season but this was not an issue at all. Overall, we could not be more thrilled with our experience and I would give it more stars if I could! An absolute ten out of ten!

The cozy, warm ambiance of the place makes it feel like the ideal place to unwind. I started with a wine flight that included a white, Moscato, and a sweet red. While they were a bit on the dry side for my super-sweet wine preferences, they were still enjoyable. The mulled cider, however, was the real star--absolutely delicious! We also ordered some snacks to share: a pepperoni flatbread and a charcuterie board. They arrived fresh and fast, and the server took the time to explain each item on the board, making the experience even more enjoyable. Everything was top-notch and super tasty. What really stood out was the friendly, knowledgeable staff, who made sure we had everything we needed. There's also a big patio that's perfect for summer months, offering a great place to relax and enjoy the outdoors with a glass of your favorite drink. Plates and water were readily available for self-service, which was a nice touch. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the area--such a great spot with the perfect combination of warmth, good food, and great drinks!
