Got about 40 pounds of burger and some jerky and elk sticks. I've gotten more meat off of a deer! After charging me $620 to process, they brought out two boxes of meat! The last elk I got was smaller than this one and I got 3x the meat. I wondered when a guy came in and brought elk meat when I was turning it in to be processed. Well, I guess they'll be making a killing selling my elk meat. From now on, I'll just take it home and having it processed there.

We purchase beef and pork products periodically as well and a jar of their tasty maple syrup, which is some of the best. The store area is clean and the taxidermy showroom is quite nice! First, the woman running the front desk when I came in with my cow elk was very friendly and helpful. Second, the quality of the packaging and processing is great as well. I've been hunting in Colorado for 30 years and after having my game processed at AGP this year, I fully intend to use them again for the next animal I harvest. I can't speak to the 2 other reviews but I can say after filling truck fulls of ice chests with harvested elk for decades, this one didn't look or feel any different than the rest. I'll be back.

Couple weeks later I got my deer and called again. This time he wasn't available because he and his were "going into town in the morning" how can you be a butcher and not be open or available during a hunting season? The sirloin steaks, two per package would feed at least five people. The bulk burger was great, when we got to the last box in the bottom of the freezer, 30-35 1lb packages. it was all marked "Wild Game Ground Elk". It was still in the box and had my name marked on it. The reason we have been going to Craig Colo was to insure a good cut, proper handling and getting OUR meat back. Maybe locals get treated different, but I can only speak to my experience, and I would NEVER go here again. In addition to short on meat the place is a dump and dirty. They use the lowest quality butcher paper which wouldn't keep the meat more the a few months in a freezer. Do yourself a favor and go to Mountain Meats in Craig they have a after hour number on the door and will come meet you. They do a much better job for basically the same money.

There is a cashier named Rebecca at the City Market in Rifle. On June 30, 2026, at approximately…read more4:15 p.m., my husband and I made a large grocery purchase, including beer. Rebecca checked my husband's ID, then insisted on seeing mine as well. Unfortunately, I had accidentally left my wallet at home. Although I am almost 47 years old, she refused to complete the sale until I produced identification. I was eventually able to pull up my digital ID on my phone, but because of poor cell service in the store, it took several minutes to load. During that time, the line behind us continued to grow, and the experience was extremely embarrassing and frustrating. This is not the first time Rebecca has handled a transaction with us this way. We understand that employees must follow company policy and state law, but her manner of interacting with customers came across as unnecessarily confrontational and lacking in basic customer service. Because of these repeated experiences, my husband and I will never go through her checkout line again. The rest of our checkout was also frustrating. The employee bagging our groceries walked away, so I ended up bagging much of our order myself. Then we discovered that the price tag was missing from a package of ribs, requiring my husband to walk all the way back to the meat department to get another package before we could finish checking out. My husband and I spend thousands of dollars at this City Market every year, and this was one of the most frustrating shopping experiences we've had. I hope management addresses both the customer service concerns and the overall checkout experience so other customers don't have a similar experience.
