my fiancée and I schedule a time to go in. she was to try on dresses to find her dress and the groomsman were to get measurements. he had asked them if we had to pay a deposit and they told us over the phone that we did not. i had told one of the staff that we were not sure about what we wanted for tux's and would want to talk about them. after we had got measured the lady starting asking my groomsman for deposits without talking to me first. these deposits were non-refundable took $100 in deposits before I could say something. They had also told my fiancée that if she did not get a deposit on the dress that she picked she would not be able to get that dress. even though the lady said they had to order it to come in. I only asked for a single dress, they selected a new one that had been recently added, they were so helpful in making the gown fit me for my best photo to submit and were so helpful with making notes for future reference for me for when I am ready to shop for my dress. I wasn't aware of all sales being final and I love my dress, but they ordered me a new veil without asking if that was still the veil I wanted. I sent my fiance to pick it up and when he got home with it I decided it's not what I wanted. I paid over $400 and it looks cheap. Like it came from the dollar tree. read more

If I could give a negative 5 stars I would. Horrible service and fittings, not one of our tuxedos fit even after waiting 3 hours for alterations. Spend the extra money for the ferry and go to Burlington. This is the only place available in Plattsburgh so they can afford to suck. I have never been so disappointed in a local business and how it is run. This was the only cause of stress in my entire wedding planning process. I got my gown at Laura's and was satisfied, therefore decided to give them more business with tux rentals and bridesmaids dresses. 1.)The dresses part 1-The first problem arose when one of my bridesmaid's dresses came in and was too small. The bridesmaid went into Laura's and tried to get a new one ordered and asked if there was anything they could do. They gave her attitude and said there was nothing they could do, the seamstress could fix it. She tried but there was no way to let it out. We went into Laura's and were told to go next door. We were followed by 3 employees and Laura to the other shop so we wouldn't make a scene. It felt like we had done something wrong, it was very unprofessional. They measured her again and said she was 2 inches bigger. When they measure, they don't tell you to stand a certain way, they measure you how you are standing, therefore measurements would never be the same. It was too late to order another. They tried to remedy it by taking a sample dress bottom and sewing it to the top of hers, which was fine and it worked. They insisted on sewing a ribbon on to cover the zipper, even though my bridesmaid just wanted it as is because it fit. They sewed it on and in the process, tucked it into the dress, making it smaller. Well, 2 weeks later (1 week before the wedding) it was picked up and didn't fit. They had to sell her a sample dress at the full price. She ended up buying 2 dresses . 2.) The dresses part 2-Another bridesmaid's dress was about 3 sizes too big, to the point where the seamstress we went to had to do a lot of work to the top and my bridesmaid had to be sewn into it the day of the wedding. 3.) The tuxes- the guys went to get fitted and I had paid the deposits on all of them ahead of time and the guys were aware of that. One of them was chased out the door and told to pay the deposit. I had to go in myself and make sure they applied his money to the bill. 4.) The tuxes, part 2-We were told they might not be in until Friday, the day before the wedding. This caused me a lot of anxiety, knowing how terribly the dresses fit. They ended up coming in on Wednesday. Most of the guys got a call, except for the groom. So, he called and was told that she couldnt tell him if it was in, but if he didnt get a call then it is not (with attitude). They ended up being ready for pickup on Thursday. Well of course, not without issues. One of the pairs of pants had a hole in them and they had to express ship another pair. When the guys went to pick them up, they mentioned how disgustingly inappropriate the attendant was dressed, with a very short skirt and a top that barely covered anything. Not professional at all for this type of business. 3.) The tuxes part 3- the guys were told that they had to return the tuxes between 11 and 3 the day after the wedding. The groom told them that we live an hour away, it was not possible. They said (with attitude), you need to call Sunday to get permission then. I have never heard of a tux rental needing to be returned the morning after the event. In conclusion, this business was the most unprofessional, unorganized, and unwelcoming local business that I have ever dealt with. The store sold me a bridesmaids dress at full price and neglected to tell me the dress was a sample dress. I awkwardly found the large "SAMPLE" stitching on the lower skirt AT the wedding that weekend! I was given 10% off at purchase (which was nice) since my husband is active duty military, but still paid over $160 for a sample dress. I'm pretty sure this isn't the intended manner of purchase designers have for stores that sell their dresses. When my husband addressed this with the store, the sales rep recommended that we pay out of pocket to have the stitching removed... however, the stitching is thick and sewn onto chiffon fabric. If you do plan to buy a dress at this store, just know that ALL of the dresses in the shop are samples with "SAMPLE" stitching. You have to order in the dress you intend to buy. Not a problem if you have the time, but still very important to know since the clerks won't tell you. The sale was much more a priority than the customer in this case. read more

I had a great experience purchasing my wedding dress from Laura's so I decided to go back with my bridesmaids to get their dresses. First off I was told anyone in the wedding party who purchased after me would receive 10% off their dress. At the time Laura's was also running a a deal for money off bridesmaids dresses but refused to honor both things even though no where did it say it excluded both promotions. The dress I saw online that I wanted to see for my bridesmaids they didn't even have in store. But what really sent me over the edge is we finally picked a dress and my girls were measured completely wrong. Not one of their dresses fit and not in a oh it's a little big in a it's WAY WAY too big for them. Two of them even told the girl she'd taken their measurements wrong and the dress were too big which she insisted was incorrect and they'd be fine. It's not even like they do alterations their so they don't benefit from the girls having their dresses altered. I'm not sure if I need a dress for another occasion I would go back to them knowing this now. read more
