Like many of the other Roots, this one currently has its Winter Sale going on which is 30% off select items. I was able to find a really cute long sleeved t-shirt with the Roots beaver wearing earmuffs and a scarf that was on sale! Some of the other cool items I found included a glow-in-the-dark toque with ears for kids (although those of us with small heads might fit into it too) and a men's tee with a zamboni on it.

The smaller stores, that pop up along Yonge Street, or in malls, are where I usually return items that don't fit, rejected gifts, or leather jackets that don't pass the "Why do you need another leather jacket" test (thanks to She Who Must Be Obeyed). Sure, the merch is the same as any other Roots location, but the staff is extremely friendly and helpful.

It's in a bit of a strip kind of mall with a full parking lot off to the side; no street parking - thank God! First, I must say, I'm not a huge fan of the brand because it's always been very matronly/older lady styles but I could always use office clothes at a decent price. A former colleague (older lady) used to go to the outlet in Vaughan and come back and bragged about getting five items for $120; maybe because this location is The Kingsway so it's far from those prices. It's very neat and organized inside with a lot of sales people vying for business. Some clothing was 50% off but it still wasn't cheap; a lot of regular priced items too. I went to get a nice charcoal grey skirt but I realized at $89 (not on sale) so I just passed because I knew I could get it something else for less money. I did end up getting an asymmetrical skirt by Nine West (pic doesn't do it justice) for $37 taxes in (regular ticketed price was $89); since it was clearance, no refunds. I will definitely go back but, to reiterate, no rock bottom prices.

I don't think there's anything in my current business wardrobe that I didn't pick up at this Jones outlet. Now this Canadian brand has really exploded, with many styles going viral on the web. The quality of the clothes has noticeably depreciated while the prices steadily increase. But it remains one of the few shops that carries pieces that are small enough to fit me, and embodies the simultaneous sexy and sophisticated look I aspire to. I popped into this Queens st location with a group of ladies, and we rationalized our purchases by telling ourselves it costs less to shop at this brand in Canada than in the US. While I am slowly working my way away from fast fashion, I definitely pick up pieces here and there that I wear for years.

While I am not traditional-sized, I am in the Aritzia size range and have never had an issue finding the Butter line in my size, which is 12-16 depending on the store. I wasn't shocked to see most of the items here at this location are medium, small, or X-small. All of that is fine, and I get it. What I don't get is the need for your staff to be so deeply unpleasant and unprofessional. I was with my partner, and we both made attempts to ask for help in finding a size. One staff member kept avoiding me, and even when I made eye contact and asked for help, she kept pretending like she didn't see me. Another one literally looked me up and down, like full read, and smiled and loudly said, "We don't have your size here." I said fair enough and went on my way. When I was leaving, some bleach-blond person almost hit me with a door and straight up just stood there giving me a dirty look. The security here is nicer than the staff.
