Recently, I reached out to this firm to request a PDF copy my prior tax documents. Initially, I was rudely brushed off by the front desk, even after telling them I had reached out to our prior CPA--Eric, a couple days prior with no response. About an hour later, I received a call directly from Eric, who began the conversation by saying "I understand you're upset I didn't respond to your email as soon as you sent it" with a condescending tone. I have never been spoken to this way by a professional in any job capacity, especially considering that at no point was I rude to either the front desk or Eric, himself. I told him that was not what I had said, to which he responded by asking me "how often" I check my email and that I should check it again, because he had sent the documents to me earlier that day (again, with a condescending tone)-- he was correct--they were in my spam. That being said, I am shocked and confused why I was treated with such disrespect for simply requesting my own documents. I can only assume it is because we choose to go elsewhere for tax prep--which, if I wasn't certain was a good idea BEFORE the IRS penalty, I certainly am now. Apparently, unless you are paying this company money, you are treated like dirt.

Just attempted to file a claim against him with the AZ State Board of Accountancy: he's not even a CPA! Right now he will not return my several emails and phone calls regarding a massive error he made on my 2015 taxes. Did my 2016 taxes myself this year and sure enough the IRS took everything because he never fixed anything from 2015 as he said he did. Additionally, when I filed my taxes this year myself I received an error stating that my (minor) daughter's SSN has been filed already with someone else. Chris would have been aware of this but has never told me. His ethics are questionable. Chris Culpepper is NOT a smart choice for something so important as your taxes.

They no longer return phone calls or emails which makes running a business even more challenging. They provide dates to submit your return info online then extend you anyways despite meeting those deadlines and expect you to pay for the extensions even though you did your part correctly. They've missed some significant deductions the past few years and are generally not very thorough. There is a serious lack of professionalism and duty to their clients. I recommend utilizing another firm that is more engaged with their clients.

It was good to meet somebody in person and it did not take too long either. I really love the way that they handle business, they provide a checklist on what exactly you will need to provide as well as they have a secure online portal where you are able to upload all of your documents therefore you do not have to go in in order to drop off any information that is needed to do your taxes. This makes it very convenient as you just scan everything in and upload it if they need anything else they will let you know. This year a provided them with a completed 8938 and asked them to file that with my tax return. My invoice added $50 for the privilege. Upon querying this and requesting a refund Rachel Hutzler told me they could not file the completed 8938 as requested, they used mine to create another verify it against the one I had provided and filed it. They did not follow my instructions and did not advise me of such just went head saying they were following their own policies. After going backwards and forwards several times Rachel Hutzler has refused to refund my $50 and there was no indication that she forwarded my request to be considered by a higher authority within the company. I pointed out that if they told me they would not be following my instructions and were going to charge me $50 I would have filed it myself
