On numerous appointments especially early on I even showed her images of the brow shape I wanted. Fast forward months later and the price increasing numerous times (I think it went from $15 to $30?) (which I didn't mind because I was committed to having my brows be that shape and knew I needed a professional to do so), I complained for the first time in those two years that my brows weren't at the shape I had wanted them to be, in fact, they were progressively getting more arched and thinner, which I didn't want. I even showed her pictures of me from before when I started and how my brows were much more arched now. Even though I was very patient and this was the first time I had any criticism in those two years, she was very rude about it. In fact, she even said, "oh you were looking for that type of brow, I thought you meant something else". Again, I understand how she could forget despite me even showing her images of the brow shape I wanted, but it would've been nice if she could ask me to clarify at the beginning of my appointments if she was unsure. And knowing this, that she was doing a completely different shape on me than what I asked for this whole time, she still responded very rudely. I guess she was having a bad day that day idk, because she was dropping things a few times that day and was running late as well. However, it was still very rude to treat a customer like that over something that is very obviously an error on her part. I think she said something like, "maybe I'm not the one who can do this shape for you", which she could've told me months ago when I first came in. And I was showing her pictures to show her my eyebrows looked better before compared to now, and she was in denial. Like if you know you were doing something completely different than what the customer asked you, and the customer is saying "I'm not seeing the shape I asked for", for her to be so dismissive and rude about it makes no sense. Anyways, it just sucks I was wasting my money this entire time and driving 40 minutes to and from every appointment, as she was trying to make my eyebrows more arched instead of less arched lol.

That being said, the negatives that I have are purely coming from a sanitation perspective, as I am also a New York State licensed waxer. Never once have I seen a single technician wear a pair of gloves. That is New York State law. I also can say with confidence that every single time the technician picks up Wax on a stick, she blows on it with her mouth, which is also against New York State law. No one has ever put pressure on the freshly waxed skin, which is a technique that I was personally taught in school, but make sure that I practice while working to ensure the least amount of pain for my clients. Lastly, this is more of a personal issue, but I feel no matter what time of day I come into the salon, whoever works on me has just eaten a meal and I have to hold my breath because of the odor being exhaled directly into my face. Overall, I think that the salon is conveniently located, and appears to be beautiful- the staff is very kind, but sanitation practices are not consistent at all.

During my search for a new salon that uses higher-quality products for a more natural volume look, one of my coworkers recommended Manhasset Lash Bar. Although their price list is a bit more expensive than I'm used to, I booked an appointment anyway because new customers get 30% off. Street parking is hilariously easy compared to the Bayside/Flushing salons I'm used to frequenting. My technician determined that an oval lash map would suit my eye shape best. I decided on a C14 mink set, and was guided into a private area closed off from other customers by actual walls rather than thin curtains. The bed was so comfortable, I fell asleep within a few minutes of starting! Halfway through both eyes, she removed the tapes and gave me a mirror to confirm that I liked how it looked so far. The rest of the appointment went by quickly, it only took about an hour total to apply 110 pieces per eye. As a testament to their work's longevity, ZERO pieces fell out during the first week and they still looked good (slightly thinner, minimal gapping) 3 weeks later when I came back for my fill. Definitely choose mink over silk, it's longer lasting due to how lightweight and soft they are!
