He was always very easy to communicate with and had me on the right track from the get go. My most recent experience with Minor and James came through a trip to the ER. A myriad of doctors came and went not really knowing what was the exact problem. I first met up with Dr. Patani who admitted for excruciating pain. The gastro team didn't know what was going on and Dr. Patani quickly admitted me suspecting degenerated uterine fibroids. I've seen other reviews that she has a "less than desirable bedside manner." Dr. Patani may not be a touchy feely sort of doctor, but she knows her expertise well which is what matters most to me. Also, I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Houlton during this experience. After being in the hospital for three days with no locked down-diagnosis, she was the one to pull the trigger and gave a diagnosis. We had about a half hour conversation which prompted me to right then and there switch her to my primary OB/GYN. Under Dr. Houlton 's and Dr. Patani's care I was able to go home after five days having fought off the infection. Unfortunately, due to the "issues" at hand I had to get a total abdominal hysterectomy. There were some unforeseen difficulties during surgery that Dr. Houlton handled quite well. I am extremely thankful for her experience and understanding. I am on the mend and feel blessed to have had two very competent doctors treat me. Thank you, Dr. Patani and Dr. Houlton.

I figured I couldn't go wrong with any of them, so I called and let the receptionist pick. The annual exam was no big deal... I didn't have to get a pap smear, though, which helps. I hate pap smears. But in any case, the exam was quick and painless. Woo hoo! They were also fairly quick overall: My appointment was at 10:40, they got me back there by 10:50 or so, and I walked out of there at 11:25. Not too bad. Everyone was really nice, as well. They are located on the 15th floor of the Nordstrom tower. Dr. Gorman's ability as a MOHS Surgeon is fantastic. I was referred to her by my dermatologist…read morecouple years ago and was so pleased with the outcome of the surgery that I requested to be referred specifically to her again. Both visits to Dr. Gorman were to remove skin cancer, one area on my head and one area on my chest. To this day I can not find the area where she operated on my head (i.e. no scar but I know there were 20+ stitches). This time Dr. Gorman removed the skin cancer, stitched up my chest and specifically told me to come back for a follow up appointment "a week from Thursday", which was approx. two weeks later. I arrived for my appointment 10 minutes early and was the only patient in the waiting room. Eventually other patients came and were taken back before me. Fifteen minutes past my appointment time I was taken back to a room where I sat alone for an hour. I should have left. Finally I was seen by some other physician and was told that Dr. Gorman is never in the Bellevue office on Thursdays. Why then did she tell me to come back on Thursday, so she could remove the stitches? Why did her staff schedule me to come on Thursday without telling me that Dr. Gorman will not even be there? Dr. Gorman has a policy for patients who don't show up for their appointment, stating a $50 fee will be charged if you don't show up for your appointment. I'm thinking she owes me $50 - never mind the fact that I had to wait an hour past my scheduled appointment time to be seen by a stranger. I'm having an issue with the incision site and feel like I simply am not important enough to be taken care of. I assure you that I will be billed for having been seen by "Dr. I have no clue what her name is" and leaving the office definitely with unresolved issues. I knew I should have just walked out. Now I guess I need to find a doctor who will give me an explanation of what is going on and take care of my incision site problem. All that to say - in the past Dr. Gorman's skill as a MOHS Surgeon was impressive but a patient should never experience such absentee aftercare.

They handle scheduling, insurance and follow-up without a hitch. My operation went smoothly and everyone was friendly, made me feel at ease and they clearly knew what they were doing. I received a follow-up call from Dr. Gorman later that day. I would and will return for my own care with Dr. Gorman and send family and friends to her as well.

My experience with OPA Orthopedics was completely unacceptable…read more I was referred to OPA after a serious motorcycle accident on July 18 with multiple fractures that required orthopedic follow-up. They received my medical records and imaging, then lost my file. After more follow-up, I was told my records had also not been properly sent over for review, causing even more delay. Then, after weeks of waiting while I was recovering from broken bones, they finally determined that they do not even accept my insurance. So OPA lost my file, failed to process my records correctly, delayed the medical review, communicated poorly throughout the process, and then only after all of that figured out that they could not see me because of my insurance. That is an unacceptable level of incompetence for a medical office dealing with injured patients. This was not just an inconvenience. I needed timely orthopedic care after a major accident, and their administrative failures wasted weeks of my recovery. I would not recommend OPA Orthopedics based on my experience.

Same as the others - location is convenient, the doctors are professional and scheduling is simple. Quality of care is okay, but lacking when compared to dermatologists in other geographies. Then comes the bill - hence the 1 star rating: Neither of the items submitted made any sense at all and thus my insurance didn't accept them. (Again, this is a standard preventative that has had no issues billing at other providers). They had billed for a surgery when none was performed and other unique codes they must realize nets them the largest amount. When I called them, they said they would fix it and submit the correct CPT codes and they had made a mistake. Lo and behold, I receive a bill 10 days later for the wrong amounts they had submitted. This billing is a disaster at best, but most likely a fraudulent attempt at insurance overbilling. I would avoid this place like the dishonest, greedy practice they are.

From my first appointment with Dr. Shaikh, I knew that I had made the right choice. I actually have never had a primary care doctor take that much time to have a conversation about my health on an individual level. I really liked the doctor I had before I came here, but it was a totally different approach and she retired. I'm very glad to have gotten a doctor at SMA. When I needed some help right away, I sent a message and heard back within less than hour and easily got a prescription filled right away. So far, I am very happy I made the choice. Well worth the small premium you pay for access to a higher level of care.

After five years, fibroids regrew--which is not uncommon. I went in for imaging every 10 months or…read moreso to keep track of fibroid growth and I'm glad I did. Around the five year mark, they found adenomyosis, which is a common side effect of any gynecological surgery. It appeared on my surgical sites. This isn't the doctor's fault, but it's useful to know and to get imaging for it in the years after surgery. Problem is, when I went back to Dr Winner about a 2nd myomectomy, she encouraged me to do the myomectomy--which could have further increased my Adenomyosis issue. Mine was caused by surgery. The risk of more Adenomyosis was high with another myomectomy. Also, the iron testing she does before surgery is very general--I was anemic (at 24) when her test said my iron was fine. The Adenomyosis was making me anemic (it bizarrely hoards iron in the uterus). At no point did doctor winner advise me that there were other options for treating the Adenomyosis, like HIFU and UAE--both don't require traditional surgery and have great results for fibroids and Adenomyosis while preserving the uterus and eliminating the other health issues from Adenomyosis. This isn't fair to patients. I don't regret my 2020 surgery with Dr. Winner at all, myomectomy was my only choice with a massive fibroid and Winner was 100% the right choice. But when I complained of surgical site pain at my belly button, she didn't inform me that this could be a common side effect of the surgery where bits of endometrial lining could be accidentally left there--causing, essentially, endometriosis. There are interventional radiology treatments that are outpatient for this common side effect. Finding out that crucial context on my conditions had been left out by Dr. Winner in consultations was... not trust building. Dr. Winner should give patients more well rounded advice even if it means they don't choose surgery with her. She's amazing at getting big fibroids out with virtually no scars, doing endo excision, etc., but if you have post surgical issues or adenomyosis or fibroids that are 5-7cm and under, you may want to seek other consultations with interventional radiologists. Ultimately, I traveled to another state to get uterine artery embolization to kill off the fibroids and adenomyosis, which is performed through a single vein. No scars, no need for healing up my abdominal wall, and very little risk of causing more adenomyosis. 1.5 months out, my stomach has shrunk, my inflammation is down, my cycles are cycling and I feel great. I'll go in for cryo treatment of the belly button endo soon. --But I had to do extensive research and find other options all on my own. It would've been the kind thing to do to refer me to other practitioners so I could get the results I needed--elimination of adenomyosis and reducing risk of more adenomyosis sites.
