This place is warm and too noisy and on the whole is not a very pleasant place to have spend your time as all there is to really do is watch the monotonous spin of the machines as you wait for your clothes. The reason I mention this one is it's one of the company branches which offers late night washing too, so you can indulge in many romantic, American-esque scenes like those cute ones in 40 Days and 40 Nights with Josh Hartnett and Shannyn Sossamon. Bless. Having opened their first launderette way back in 1951, they've gone from strength to strength providing washers and dryers for cityfolk ever since. They're slightly unique, more so than other launderettes anyway as the machines are larger than domestic washers and some can take on a whopping 33 pounds of laundry. No excuses for wearing your wash day clothes with these bad boys around! Yep, it's just about the only launderette that's willing to take on your king size duvet. A full wash will take around 25 minutes, and the dryers, with their large drum capacity, actually manage to make all your unmentionables easy-iron. Pretty good, huh? I was informed that there was a launderette nearby so I decided I would cope. The Liver Launderette is situated by the busy Lark Lane and is one of two on Aigburth Road. I first went there in the daytime and having never used a launderette before I was pleased to see that there was an attendant on duty who showed me how to use the machines and also provided me with some washing powder for a small charge. The launderette is nice and clean, and provides a warm haven to shelter in when the weather is on the cold side. There is plenty of seating on which you can sit and read a magazine, or chat to a friend. Now I have moved and have my own washing machine I have been back a couple of times to wash my duvet. If you go during the daytime when an attendant is present they will sort out washing the duvet for you for a small extra charge. They also provide a dry cleaning service where the items are collected daily and returned shortly after. This is a great little launderette which serves its purpose well.

However, 50p for 5 minutes of drying time is pathetic. I spent nearly £35 on 5 wash loads with £15 on washing and £20 on drying. Despite spending what I felt was a ridiculous amount on drying, not one item of clothing was dry and after hours and I ended up bringing everything home still damp. Complete waste of money.

If you're caught short of time or as has happened many a time to moi, the washing machine breaks and your landlord hasn't been very co-operative, It's really cheap and is only 25 mins per load. The drums are so huge I've had bets on being able to fit inside, but even if that is slightly unlikely, they take a 33kg load and wash it in half the time. Winner! It's not exactly rocket science but everything is clearly and helpfully labelled and then all you have to do is wait for the magic to happen... Voila! Clean! They've also got late night opening in specific branches with the last load being 7pm so if you want a little romance struck over Bold and Lenor then this is the place. The best part is if you're in a real rush they provide a washing, ironing and folding service for a good price. (Great for students who want a live-away mum!)
