We were greeted by one of the owners. She was friendly and shared information about this business freely. The store was quiet, clean and nicely organized.There is a food truck associated with the Delish business and online ordering is coming for store items as well. We've gotten several meals from the tasty empanadas and finally ate the chocolate dessert last night. It was incredible. Looking forward to going back to the store and trying the food truck.

I love that they use a handmade mass dough to make these. The meat of choice was Carne Asada. They were out of Lengua. I will go back again and again for this. It was my absolute favorite. I've attended food truck festivals in other cities but this was my first here in Asheville. There were roughly 15 trucks serving up a variety of styles. I went with some friends and my husband and I think between the 4 of us we sampled something from at least 8 of the trucks. I was a big fan of the Farm to Fender truck, and the Peruvian truck.. It wasn't as packed as I was expecting. The lines ebbed and flowed so I never really had to wait too long to order, I just did it in an intelligent order I suppose. We never did manage to snag seats, but that didn't ruin anything in my mind. My two gripes would be: 1. having to buy a wrist band to order adult beverages and not realizing there would only be beer and hard liquor (well, mixed drinks). I guess that's my fault for not asking what was there, but that was a waste of $3 for me. I just wanted a cider. 2. Having to pay to vote for my favorite food truck. I get that this event costs money to put on, but I don't know, I just plain didn't vote because I had bought a useless wrist band to drink. Just my two cents. I totally enjoyed myself and all the wonderful food and can't wait for it to happen again!

We also got vegetarian tacos and beans and rice the truck offered different protein options, one of them being queso frito, a sort of grilled cheese that I really liked. Then we tried the fried green tomatoes from the farm to table truck that came with a dip and were breaded with some coarse stuff that was great. In Asheville, I've had to hunt these places down. A fellow Californian told me El Patron has the best tacos in town. "It's also connected to a gas station." He said, as I effused about Patty's Pupuseria (also adjacent to a gas station). El Patron is inside of a gas station. You order at the counter and a very small kitchen prepares subs, burgers, tacos, burritos, etc. Normally, I would be a little skeptical of such a place with diverse offerings, especially inside a gas station convenient store. But this place was recommended. I ordered a Pastor taco, Carne Asada and a bean and cheese pupusa. Hubby ordered a steak burrito. Well, the bad news is their pupusas suck. Mine was a crispy, greasy hocky puck that tasted of old oil on an unclean grill. Two bites and I chucked it in the trash. Now on to the good part - the tacos - WOW. Yes! The pastor was perfectly seasoned. That subtle sweet pineapple, the luscious salty goodness, with bits of fatty pork in there. The carne asada was perfect - meaty, salty, yummy taco heaven.
