    Cheese, glorious cheese.

Make no mistake, this is a high-end épicerie/grocery store. Yes, they sell quite a lot of prepared foods, but the bulk of the items are fresh fruit and veg, canned and dry goods, frozen foods, pasta, dairy, etc. Limited organic foods. More Dean + Deluca than Intermarché or BioTerre (which is across the street). It has a HUGE cheese selection and a wonderful butcher for french cuts (filet, contre filet, onglet, bavette.) Meat is NOT grass-fed, though. Small, curated selection of wine and beer. Big chocolate section. Expensive. Very friendly and helpful staff. Rating Scale: 1 Star: Avoid the town in which this place is located just to be safe. 2 Star: With so many great places to choose from, why risk this one? 3 Star: I'll try it again or consume here in a pinch. 4 Star: I go here regularly if financially and/or calorically feasible. 5 Star: I look forward to taking my wife or friends here.

Delicious little neighborhood grocery store and butcher shop with a different name. I'd like to hear the story of why this place is called Chez Latina. I came here by chance as I like to explore and peruse the Mille end neighbourhood. Definitely a high end place with many prepared meals, cheese and a great looking small time butcher shop. Not a place I'd shop at every week (unless I was to win a lottery or get a big raise at work) as the pricing here definitely is a premium. It sure is a great place to zip up the fridge condiment selection or treat yourself to some specialty items. I have to take it easy as the fridge door in my place is full and I have a rule to make room before I buy more. They do have some high quality jarred items plus canned, spices, jams and jellies plus sauces. These neighbourhood grocery stores are a dying breed but a good local following can keep this place going (which looks like the case) for many years. I look forward to checking it out again!

Excellent for meat, and other delicious things. A little more expensive than PA but much better.

There are random carts littered throughout with random items sold for shockingly low prices. As many other people have mentioned, there is a metric fuck ton of dried fish in the back. It doesn't smell as strongly as the rest of the comments say it does though haha The meat was pretty shit though and the avocados we bought sucked

Yes, it's grungy in there, and smells weird, and is full of salty people, but I was able to get bags of groceries that fed me for an entire week for about $10. Admittedly that was a while ago, and I was a vegetarian back then, and I weighed less than 100 lbs, but hey I lived to tell this story. I was back at Segal's this past week, for a stroll down memory lane, and with the exception of some new security cameras and TV screens, it's exactly how I remembered it. It's still poorly lit. The refrigerated sections still have those yellowing plastic curtains. The floors are still dirty and it still smelled weird. Prices are a bit higher, but I would say keeping with inflation. They stock a few more organic items now. The bulk items used to just be in open tubs (like at Bulk Barn, minus the coverings), but are now in plastic garbage/recycling bins, with lids, lol. The "scoops" are plastic water jugs that are tied to the bins. Most are cracked or broken. I found this amusing. This place has apparently been around since 1927. Maybe it's just nostalgia speaking, but I have a soft spot in my heart for its "this is who I am, warts and all, take it or leave it" attitude.
