It is within walking distance from class and I hadn't been before but was saved in Yelp as one of my "want to try" restaurants. First off, the warm greeting was so nice as we were the first customers of the day (a few minutes before opening). We were seated promptly and the server was quick to check in with us. I had read about the ambiance before hand and was very intrigued to see if it would be too "dark" to see with my older eyes but it was actually perfect and I enjoyed the red light, intimate feel. We decided to split the chicken curry ramen and edamame, fries and she also got a single slider. Let me tell you, nothing short of yummy perfection. THOSE FRIES, the flavors of the curry, alllllllll the things. Excellent find and kudos to the daughter for the recommendation.

I've come here a handful of times and have enjoyed it mostly…read more The hosts and servers are easy going and the restaurant decor is sweet. Majority of the time, the food is tasty and flavorful. The sliders are a great treat and crispy every time. The ramen is good and filling too. The last two times I've been, I noticed the quality of the ramen declined. The noodles are becoming firmer and firmer. Too firm for a tonkatsu ramen. Both of us were disappointed and hope that the quality gets back to where it used to be.

This place is a little off the beaten path, but the reviews looked promising, so we decided a small sushi road trip was in order. I walked in expecting the usual sushi restaurant vibe. Instead I was greeted by a television so large it could probably pick up signals from space. When I say massive, I mean it takes up an entire wall. Nothing pairs with delicate nigiri quite like a television the size of a drive-in movie screen. The all you can eat menu is a little limited when it comes to rolls, which was a bit surprising. But the nigiri selection was actually pretty strong and, more importantly, surprisingly fresh. Plenty of options and the fish held up well over multiple rounds. The cooked items were also plentiful, which helps if someone in your group is not fully committed to the raw fish lifestyle. Overall, I enjoyed the food. The service, however, moved at a pace that felt very... deliberate. Very, very slow. Slow enough that you start wondering if the rice is being strategically deployed to fill you up before your next order arrives. Still, the food was good and the experience enjoyable enough to land at a slightly above average four stars. Tip: come with extra time and patience. Settle in, watch a good sporting event on that enormous TV, and pack away some pretty solid sushi. Four stars. A little off the beaten path, a little slow on the service, but good sushi and possibly the biggest TV you will ever see in a sushi restaurant.

As soon as…read morewe arrived, we were asked "how many", to which I responded. the hostess asked if we were all here, I replied with "yes". He said "we'll let me know when they are all inside. I said they are right behind me walking thru the door. He then said "well it will be about 10 min". Then he just walked off. Less than a minute later another woman came up and said are you all here, we said yes and she seated us. We just chuckled and thought the other hostess must be having a bad day. As we sat thru the meal, we wanted to let them know we had a birthday without our daughter hearing, so I walked to the hostess desk (because I did not see our server around) and said "hey we have a birthday at our table. He just looked at me and then gave me a thumbs up and said "well I guess you should tell your server". I said, " I don't know where she is". He replied "well I'm sure she will be back at some point". I just shook my head and walked off. I went back to our table and told my husband what he had said. He went back to the hostess and said "I think my wife came up here because we have a birthday, can you not let them know.". The hostess said "well, that's not our policy, you tell your server". At this point my husband was extremely upset at the attitude we were receiving just from a simple request. My husband said "nevermind we will just find her and tell her ourselves, you Are useless". As he turned to walk away the hostess then shouted out "well what are you?" My husband turned around and said "excuse me?" The hostess said you heard me. My husband then said "bring a manager up here there is no need for you to be a smartass." During all of this we had not seen our server or we would have simply asked her. We weren't mad at her because she had several other tables and was busy. When the manager came up, the hostess was very aggressive and the manager was pulling him back saying they would speak with him. The manager never came to our table to apologize and as we were leaving she stood at the hostess stand staring at us as the other hostess stood behind the curtain. After coming there for over 10 years, we will be finding another Japanese place. There was no need for any of the events to occur. It seems they did not care about how customers are treated.

My egg rolls were extra crispy (read burnt) and even though they were a large portion, they apparently spent all their money on the crust because the filling was a prime example of minimalism. They have a little cardboard, bottom in the brown bag for takeout. Don't be fooled in thinking it's for support, it's for catching the grease. The crispy noodles for the soup was excellent. (always try to find a little silver lining in a thundercloud). The service was pretty good, I can't speak to the ambience because it was takeout. My recommendation for the ownership team here? Have you thought about road construction? Interior painting? Do you have any hobbies? Something you're good at? Because you suck at this. I now have to go give a good review for someplace else as I try to balance the good reviews and bad reviews on my profile. Honestly, to find a step up from this, though, it won't be hard. I got a traffic ticket the other day ...and the officer was really nice. I think I'm gonna say something nice on that review.
