The dogs that were there were wonderful with Raven. I brought some new tennis balls and gave them to the other dog owners so they could play ball with their dogs. We finally felt comfortable enough to take our puppy to our local dog park. Since I've heard two…read moresides good and bad about this specific park I was a little nervous. Well, we had a really good experience. Our pup who is just 4 months old really enjoyed himself and I found the park to be very clean. There ar homeless surrounding the perimeter but they don't bother you. I liked how there was extra poop bags in case you forgot them or ran out. There is a water spout for the pups if they get thirsty. If you have a little one there is a smaller section for smaller dogs I believe 35 lbs or less. I do have one complaint and it's not the park but a specific dog owner. If your dog's goes #2 the right thing you should do is pick it up right? Well, this lady's dog takes a giant #2 while watching it and turns a blind eye. She left it for either us dog parents or another dog to step in. I was very disappointed. So, make sure when walking around you are aware that there may be poop on the grass due to irresponsible dog owners.

Love taking the pups to this park…read more As mentioned in the other reviews, this park does have 3 separate areas for dogs of all sizes. Large dogs, small dogs and a space to train your dogs. We typically go to all three areas and truly enjoy the spaces. I have two smaller sized dogs and they get so excited coming to the park. Several of the owners are very friendly, clean up after their dogs and seem to also keep coming back. The park does get pretty muddy during rain seasons due to the lack of grass in some areas but overall we let the dogs enjoy it all either way. There are sidewalks for walking along the edges. There are benches to sit on but just be mindful this is where all the dogs lift their legs and do their business. The gates are a little tricky to open but definitely not child proof. Enjoy!

American Legion Park is probably the iconic park of Stockton. I'm not saying it's the best park,…read morebut it is the park that most resembles "old" Stockton in that the entire city used to congregate here for the 4th of July decades ago. First, Stockton wasn't always on the wrong side of a population 350k or more. I remember when we were about half that in the early 80's. This park was the premiere location to hang out and just relax. There really isn't much for facilities here. There is basketball, a kids playground and that's about it. The grassy bank protecting the 'hood from flooding is kinda cool because it provides an interesting pathway around the park and the Smith Canal. There are some concrete tables and benches if you want to throw a quick BBQ or just share some beers during COVID. You can fly a drone and get some great pics of Stockton from about 500 feet. You can throw a frisbee and lose in said Canal. You can talk a dog for a nice walk around and double back or shoot all the way to Pershing and make a loop. In short, this isn't the largest, most beautiful, or even the best facilites, but the location matters and this place used to the heart of Stockton when times were a lot better (kid of the 80's, greatest decade ever)!

Was surprised to show up for our weekend camping trip to see no camp host again. It was self check…read morein at the gate and we drove through as we had reserved online. Thankfully nobody was in our camp site as there wasn't a board or anything indicating what camp sites were not previously reserved. Got lucky as the spot we love, #49 was empty. Was impressed the grounds seemed to be mowed down and not too overgrown. The wind drops lots of leaves through the day but the open loop seems well maintained. They still have the feral cat issue, that been years in the making sadly. I will say there were less cats then the past few years, at least that showed themselves during our weekend. Bathrooms were very clean, even with many familes/groups tent camping throughout the grounds. We never had to wait to use them. Well stocked with soap and tp. With no camp host, there was nobody there to keep the noise to a minimum when it got late. It wasn't too bad but I did hear laughing and talking well past midnight. didn't bother us as we were in a RV, but maybe an issue for any families with small kids. There were a few other dogs on site, all dog owners kept their pups on a leash and I only heard one bark. Well done my fellow dog people. Can't blame the camp grounds, but the mosquitos here are AWFUL! We had the wrist bands, candles, bug spray with 45% deet. We went overboard with protection and ended up coming home with 4 bites. Them skeeters were humming early in the morning through the night. Overall we had a great weekend and will continue to come back to Caswell.
