I informed Bluetails on June 30 that I would be going out of town on July 1. They finally texted…read moreme from some program on their computer on July 1 and told me my application had been approved. They also said Hobey had been to the vet and it was determined that she was 8 years old and that I wouldn't have to pay an adoption fee because Honey was an older dog and I was 65 years old. I told them I had already left and wouldn't return until July 10. She said they could board the dog for $10 per day but never said anything about paying in advance. I never heard anything else until July 4 when I was informed that in order to hold Honey I would need to pay for the boarding up front. Why wasn't I informed of this on July 1? Then they sent a link for fastpayments.com and not bluetails. I again informed them I would not be paying any money in advance. At that point I was told Honey would need to be relisted and they would continue processing applications. And then Courtney sent me this after I told her it all sounded like a scam since I had never met Hobey in person, This is Courtney the founder of Bluetails. We have a very high reputation in our community. We take payments up front because PEOPLE always try to get a dog for free, or watch it for free etc. Feel free to call the Jefferson Parish animal shelter or the LASPCA and ask about our credibility. But at this point I think we're past the point of no return. This is the kind of gratitude we get for having a program for seniors. Trying to place older dogs with older adopters for FREE, but we're the scam.... OK". Definitely not a happy camper about how unprofessional this whole process was. I will be reporting this to the better business bureau as

I adopted my Little Dude from ARNO in April. I visited once and fell in love with this quiet little…read morebeagle mix -- the only dog not going crazy in his crate. The staff was very helpful and very thorough. Someone came to my apartment to talk with me before I was approved, and she spent quite a bit of time with me. There were some hoops to jump through but I didn't mind because I knew they wanted the perfect home for this beautiful boy. He had been taken home by someone else a month or two before and had been returned after only one night. They wanted to make sure that didn't happen again. It didn't. I was approved to adopt and he came home with me shortly after. They had a lot of rules about medical treatment and a vet checkup, etc. Stuart had heartworms and ARNO paid for his treatment. We also had some behavior problems in the weeks after he came home with me (he even peed on my bed -- repeatedly) and I once called ARNO in tears, worried that I wasn't a good fit and no knowing what to do. ARNO sent a trainer to my home. She spent about an hour with us, talking to me about the behavior issues and things I could do to help him settle in and feel at home. Today, Stuart (aka Little Dude) is happy and healthy. He's not so quiet anymore and he's getting over many of the fears he developed from being homeless and probably abused at an early age. He has a home and a human who adores him and the two times he got away from me he didn't go more than 50ft and then waited for me so he also knows he can trust me and I'm not abandoning him. I have ARNO to thank. I see some reviews criticizing Ginnie. I don't know her but she's one person. I've been working for more than three decades and every business has someone (usually more than one) who doesn't play well with others. I would caution you to look at their purpose and their business model and know that their first priority is the health and safety of those babies who they have promised to protect and care for. No amount of entitlement or whining will ever make them stray from that mission. And if you're truly committed to finding a forever family member, you'll understand that not every animal is perfect for you.

Late March I completed an app for a cat online. They replied quickly and rejected me. Because I…read morestated that I may take the cat outside with me, they said cats should never have access to outside or be free to roam around. I replied by stating that I did not indicate any such thing. The cat would live indoors, eat, sleep indoors, and otherwise be an indoor cat. If outside, it would be completely supervised by me. I never received another response to that. I also very much believe that the fact that I am a senior did not sit well with them. They do ask your age on the app (that should be illegal). Maybe that's the real reason and they are using outside as an excuse. In any event, the cat is still on the website living in a shelter when it could have had a very wonderful loving home., No wonder there are so many animals living in shelters.
