I had to arrange transportation, so they didn't make the appointment then when I called back just 30 minutes later I was informed that they didn't even know if the Dr. would see my husband, because it had been 2 years since he did his eye surgery.??? That would've been the thing for the staff to KNOW BEFORE they told me I could get the appointment! I got treated this way because my insurance coverage doesn't start until Jan. 12, 2012 as I switched providers during open season. I was rudely informed that I had to pay before even setting down in the waiting room. I knew I had to pay out of pocket before we left, but, come on. The way the woman spoke to me is like they don't care if you go blind as long as you pay the $200 before setting in their office. I'd give them ZERO stars if I could. Oh, and don't even think of asking for your medical records to go somewhere else. it could take 48 hours just for the Doctor to approve you taking them.

Excellent eye care but the front desk continually submits prescriptions to the wrong pharmacy…read morelocation. I have corrected them on this my last three visits and still a prescription was sent to wrong pharmacy. Fortunately I was able to get the prescription transferred to my pharmacy and filled in time for when I had to start using it before my eye surgery!! Very frustrating.

I had a really strange experience here. I only booked here because it's one of the few places in…read morethe area that accepts Davis Vision and I'll be trying somewhere else next time. I wouldn't say the receptionist I checked in with was rude, but she wasn't friendly either - just kind of going through the motions. Waiting room area is nice and I only waited a few minutes. The tech that did the pre-testing was friendly and did as thorough a job as I've had done anywhere else. Then she had me go in the exam room. The chair was in very bad condition with peeling vinyl and flaking foam. And then I find out I won't actually be seeing a doctor in person, it will be a virtual visit where I speak to the doctor on a screen and the exam is done remotely. This was never disclosed to me before this point and I would not have made this appointment if I had known that. I'm already there so I went through with the exam. I was given a set of contacts to try and immediately knew they were not right. After much arguing and being told I was wrong, I finally got a different strength in the eye that was the worse of the two, but they still weren't even close to right. Instead of figuring it out right then, I was told I would need to wear them for a week to get used to them and then come back. Getting annoyed at this point, I left and called back the next day to book a follow up...of which they had no openings for another several weeks. So I went way too long in a contact prescription that was incorrect and giving me headaches daily. I finally get back for the follow up and wait for over an hour in the waiting room. When I was called back the tech did a quick check and determined in a matter of moments that yes, the contacts I was given were all wrong and I would need to do another virtual exam. So I re-did that whole process and got a prescription that was better but still not quite right. Fed up at this point, I took it and left. I glanced at glasses frames but they were insanely overpriced, and I ordered my contacts elsewhere as I was done giving this place any of my business. Had I not already exhausted my insurance benefit, I would have gone somewhere else for another exam. I noticed when I was in the waiting room that I was the youngest person there, by several decades. It is in my opinion that this place caters to elderly folk who have more issues and thus will spend more money there. From my own experience and what I observed, it seems as though they are perhaps most concerned with maximizing profit at the expense of a quality product.

In every instance, the warm, welcoming and friendly office staff and technicians made the visits very pleasant. The technicians, male and female, were mindful of his bad back, and strove to make him as comfortable as possible during these tests. Were it not for Dr. Matangi's annual bloodwork tests, I don't know that a "slow, insidious leak" of red blood cells would have been noticed quite so quickly. A leak, by the way, that led to a diagnosis by other specialists of stomach cancer! Because it was spotted early, it was not Stage 4! Dr. Matangi is thorough, professional, knowledgeable and personable. My husband and I trust him and his colleagues completely. While the Clinic closes at 4pm, I must tell you that, after wearing a Holter monitor for 2 weeks and sending it off for analysis, Dr. Matangi telephoned us at 7pm to make a medication adjustment! There are several parking meters directly in front of the Clinic, and Shoppers Drug Mart's parking lot, a half-block away, allows Heart Clinic patients to park their cars for their appointments (they have a log book where you list your license plate). The Office Manager, Ms. Christine Cipolla, is the epitome of administrators: friendly, efficient and effective, with a delightful sense of humour! She and her office crew work perfectly together!
