I am a real fan of this business. I was sick with Iritis and had to get in to see a doctor…read morequickly. They gave me a first available appointment. I went not knowing a thing about this business. I was treated with respect and was not only seen but the doctor spent the time explaining the condition, what causes it and what we had to do to get some relief. I was simply amazed at the level of care we can get right here in Watertown. Now reading the other reviews, I agree that something needs to be done with the waiting room. The atmosphere is not one of waiting for a professional but rather like waiting for a bus that is late getting there. The 'hurry up and wait' is a take off from Ft. Drum. You can do better than that. I don't mind waiting when I know the doctor could be taking a few extra minutes with a patient, but it shouldn't be like that all the time. The nurses also seem to be told to hurry, in fact I heard someone telling a group of them exactly that. Now onto my glasses. I am older than dirt so have had many, many pairs of glasses in my life. They did the best job of any by far. The bifocal was in exactly the right place. The arms did not hurt behind my ears and I loved them. Everyone deserves a second chance - when you go somewhere one time and then write a rotten review you are not giving the business the chance to make some corrections. I had a really strange experience here. I only booked here because it's one of the few places in…read morethe area that accepts Davis Vision and I'll be trying somewhere else next time. I wouldn't say the receptionist I checked in with was rude, but she wasn't friendly either - just kind of going through the motions. Waiting room area is nice and I only waited a few minutes. The tech that did the pre-testing was friendly and did as thorough a job as I've had done anywhere else. Then she had me go in the exam room. The chair was in very bad condition with peeling vinyl and flaking foam. And then I find out I won't actually be seeing a doctor in person, it will be a virtual visit where I speak to the doctor on a screen and the exam is done remotely. This was never disclosed to me before this point and I would not have made this appointment if I had known that. I'm already there so I went through with the exam. I was given a set of contacts to try and immediately knew they were not right. After much arguing and being told I was wrong, I finally got a different strength in the eye that was the worse of the two, but they still weren't even close to right. Instead of figuring it out right then, I was told I would need to wear them for a week to get used to them and then come back. Getting annoyed at this point, I left and called back the next day to book a follow up...of which they had no openings for another several weeks. So I went way too long in a contact prescription that was incorrect and giving me headaches daily. I finally get back for the follow up and wait for over an hour in the waiting room. When I was called back the tech did a quick check and determined in a matter of moments that yes, the contacts I was given were all wrong and I would need to do another virtual exam. So I re-did that whole process and got a prescription that was better but still not quite right. Fed up at this point, I took it and left. I glanced at glasses frames but they were insanely overpriced, and I ordered my contacts elsewhere as I was done giving this place any of my business. Had I not already exhausted my insurance benefit, I would have gone somewhere else for another exam. I noticed when I was in the waiting room that I was the youngest person there, by several decades. It is in my opinion that this place caters to elderly folk who have more issues and thus will spend more money there. From my own experience and what I observed, it seems as though they are perhaps most concerned with maximizing profit at the expense of a quality product.
